  1. I don't think the choppers will help with the weather forecast they are giving (rain Wed, Thur, and Fri). Both teams should think about wearing boots instead of cleats (or maybe turf aerator spikes). The West players were told that four Boone starters were out when they played against Volunteer (concusions after the West game), but I do not know how valid that information is. On a positive note, both teams will have to play on the same field under the same conditions. It did hurt West Friday against Cherokee and made us change the game plan. I hope that there are no injuries in the game due to the field. This would be the worst time to loose an important player for either of these teams.
  2. This time of year apparently all the fields are terrible. West Fresh played at Cherokee on Thurs and I was very surprised at the shape of the Cherokee field. I thought we were the only lucky ones who played in mud at the end of the year, but the Cherokee field was just like home. Just answering in kind.
  3. You need to read the earlier comments. I was speaking about the baseball field not the football field. I agree that the football field needs a new surface and did not say anything different. Funny how some people come in on half the conversation convinced they have all the answers!
  4. No one at West is looking past Cherokee and that is a guarantee!! We take all our games one game at a time. Just like building a house you have to start with the foundation and not the roof. Coach Woods has proven he understands that concept and is able to get the players to play the game on hand.
  5. How much is East putting up for the field? Nothing, the tax payers of Hamblen County are paying for that field and East is going to use it. It is not, nor has it ever been East's field.
  6. They are rebuilding Sherwood according to the Council and the Parks and Rec. It has just taken much longer than it should. There is a lot of finger pointing going on with this and the truth is...the person at fault does not matter (at this time), just get the field completed. After completion, then we need to find out who is at fault. By the way, this is not the Canes field per se. It is a Park and Rec field that is used by East. When East is done, then the P&R teams are allowed to use it.
  7. Another high school sports website (which will remain nameless) predicts the score to be MoWest 35 Cherokee 7. I do believe West wins, but believe the score will be MoWest 28 Cherokee 14.
  8. East is very quick and Greeneville is very down. So, it is not just a question of East being that good (they are pretty good), but of Greeneville being that down. Please do not intrepet that as Greeneville being bad. They have a good team, just not enough playmakers to move them into the elite of the conference this year.
  9. Nothing is locked in as of yet and I will show you what I mean: MoWest current 5-0 -- Cherokee, Cocke Co left can lose one and still be 1st East current 4-1 -- Greeneville, Daniel Boone left can lose to Greeneville and still be 2nd (if DB beats Crockett and loses to East) if lose both move to 5th Boone current 3-2 -- Crockett, East left win both will be 2nd Cherokee current 3-2 -- MoWest, Volunteer left win both will be third if East loses both Greeneville current 2-3 -- East, Crockett left Volunteer current 2-3 -- Cocke Co, Cherokee left Crockett current 1-4 -- Daniel Boone, Greeneville left Cocke Co current 0-5 -- Volunteer, MoWest left If Greeneville wins both and East loses both they will be 4th. The scenarios become to complex for me past that. Volunteer stands a chance at the playoffs if they win out and the complexion of the standings will change drastically in that event. At this point, only MoWest is assured of a playoff spot (win Friday and they will be assured the first place spot).
  10. In a word, "NO", Greeneville does not have a chance to come close to beating East. After I saw them (Greeneville) against West (very good QB, but the receivers had a hard time holding onto the ball and almost no running game), I was surprised at the size of the Greeneville team (seem very strong, but very short). If East plays up to their capability Greeneville will not be close in the first half much less the second. I am not sure the 21 point spread is enough here, could be closer to 35 or 40.
  11. If East is 2nd they will get the loser of the Tennessee High / Johnson Co game (the third place finisher in Region 1). If West is 1st they will play the fourth place finisher in Region 1 (probably Elizabethton). If Boone wins out they will be third in Region two and face the second place finisher in Region 1 (Tennessee / Johnson winner). If Cherokee is 1-1 (loses to West, wins other game) they will be fourth and play the first place team in Region 1 (Sullivan South probably). I believe East will get Tennessee High because I think they will beat Johnson County, but who knows (I also thought Cherokee would make a game of it against East; and Boone would beat Volunteer). Second round will obviously be the winners of the above matchups with the home field going to the higher seed. Third round will be the winners and the home field is in the bottom brackett this year (fouth round home is in the bottom brackett this year also).
  12. Well, Friday, October 13, 2006 shows why the games are played. The big win by East and the loss by Boone makes for an extremely interesting conference schedule and finish. There are no games that are not big games for everyone in the region. The finals show that anyone can lose on Friday. New finish prediction: West 7-0 East 6-1 Boone 4-3 Cherokee 4-3 (4th due to head to head with Boone) Greeneville 3-4 Volunteer 3-4 David Crockett 1-6 Cocke 0-7
  13. You have missed your calling if this is the only writing you do. Seems to me a byline in some paper has to be in your future. Great stuff and fantastic humor.
  14. Sticking to your prediction -- I like that. I do not know if West will get 48 on Greeneville. We seem to be our worst opponent of late and are making too many mistakes on offense. I believe West will win, but I do not know if we will score more than 30 (but I have been wrong befere...(knocking on wood)...hopefully I will be this time too. Prediction 28 - 7
  15. Obviously, Hillsboro and Maplewood cannot both win. I feel Maplewood loses due to the fact they are the visitor (I do not know enough about these teams to make a different guess). Also, if Springfield looks ahead they could lose as well.
  16. Barb, these are not even the most asinine statements he/she has made. I don't know who this is, but their lack of knowledge and sportmanship is very evident.
  17. I know anything is possible, but I do not see this happening. If the game is even this close it will be the other way around.
  18. Not even the correct number (if he is saying he is #69) for our center. This person has also written a few other things (on other boards) that make the Trojan faithful look a little conceited.
  19. West has not played Cherokee yet.
  20. The rain may change West's ability to score as many as we want. The mud may keep us from using our ground game to the best of our ability. If may also be an advantage to the passing game of Greeneville. I still see West winning, but the field may provide a little more equality to Greeneville.
  21. What that person is referring to is the CoachT pick the winner contest. It shows that (now) 77% of the people who picked the game have picked Cherokee to win. Unfortuntately, it does not say how many people have participated in this particular game. In other words, if only 20 people have participated then 15 of them have picked Cherokee to win. It is not a poll per se and it shows only CoachT members' idea of who will win. I do not think that there is a poll that shows that much of an advantage (or any advantage) to Cherokee anyplace else in the state.
  22. Here is what I think the records and standings will be at the end of the year for Region 2 4A. MoWest 7-0 Boone 6-1 Cherokee 5-2 East 4-3 Greene 3-4 Volunteer 2-5 Crockett 1-6 Cocke 0-7 Any comments?? Note: Cherokee and East may be swithed due to their game, but I think Cherokee wins.
  23. Yeah, almost beat us by 45 - 24. If West did not let down after the 14 quick points they would have had 50 before the half. However, the boys figured out East was not going to go away and did what needed to be done for the win. East may beat West sometime in the future, but they will have to do it before they get the credit for it. After looking over their schedule, the obvious conclusion is that they have not been able to pull any upsets. They have only beat the teams they were supposed to beat. The only big offensive or defensive production they have had this year has been on teams too hapless (this year) to stay on the field with anyone. East may be able to beat Cherokee, but I still think whoever has the ball last wins.
  24. Some stats for these teams: East averages 29 ppg while allowing 19.6. Their opponents record is 23 wins 26 losses Cherokee averages 23.3 ppg while allowing 14.7. Their opponents record is 23 wins 26 losses I do not see a big win for either team. Looks to me like a shoot out with the winner being the team with the ball last.
