  1. As a coach, I will now give my two cents. First of all I do understand that Coaches have the ability to be a positive light in a dark dark world. I also think that coaches who are passionate, sometimes lose control. Does that make it right? No. But it happens. I don't think that some parents realize the amount of sacrifice that good coaches make. I say good coaches because you still have some that are just drawing a check. I have two small children and a wife of 8 years and 2-4 nights a week during the season, I don't get to see them. They are in bed when I get home. I'm missing that time to teach, mentor, coach, befriend, and love a bunch of teenage boys. It is what God has called me to do. I still make time for my family, but is it enough? That is a question that continues to haunt me. It stresses me...It puts me on edge...I drill, train, teach and coach many skills for thousands of repetitions. We do box out drills, ball handling drills, shooting drills, on the ball defensive drills, help defensive drills, passing drills, dummy through plays, and everything necessary to prepare for our opponents. When you have worked this hard preparing for a game, you have no choice but to be passionate. When you know in your heart that your kids are prepared to take care of the ball and rebound and they go out and turn it over and give up offensive rebounds. You "LOSE CONTROL". I've never called my kids F'n P's but I have accidentally let a couple of profanities fly. If you judge me you are no better than I. I have done Bible study with my team. We pray on the court before every game. I tell my kids to live right, and more importantly I try to show them how to live right. When my kids fall down, I don't condem them I help them up. I can tear a kid down with the best of them. I belittle them. I have made them cry. But I have also cried with them. That being said...all kids are different and to be perfectly honest some kids need a verbal kick in the butt to get them going. Does that mean that I chose to kick them with profanity? No. But my kids don't need that. If you have never been in a coaches shoes you cannot say what a coach should or should not do.
  2. I don't see Dyer County having near the talent they had a couple of years ago. Coach Froedden is a strong disciplinarian and has weeded out most of the bad apples. Now we will see what kind of players he can develop. CJ Crittenden is probably better as a freshmen that Montrelle was, but will he be as good? I only question Froedden's style. I don't think it fits his personelle. He doesn't have the athletes to play a 90 feet game, especially not against the teams Dyer County plays. Maybe he is preparing for the future. He does have one thing going for him though, the administration at Dyer County don't really care whether he wins or not.
  3. You don't even know what your talking about. They are guaranteed a trip to the region, not a two seed. Know your facts before you get on here and post that mess. I truly believe William Blount will finish fourth in the 4AAA tournament and they will play Oak Ridge in the first round of the region. They will lose if that happens. In case you havn't noticed they are really struggling right now. Against good teams that is.
  4. You guys better be respecting the Rockwood Tigers a little more...If I recall correctly you have already gone 0-2 against them this season.
  5. William Blount won't even win a game in the region. Oak Ridge and Greenville siegel and Oakland Hunters Lane and Franklin Hamilton and Ridgeway The only question mark is maybe Bearden instead of Greenville...
  6. If Cleveland's book was not correct then it was Coach Green's fault. All coaches fill out their own books and are responsible for them being correct. Maybe Aaron was too busy being pretty to do his job.
  7. Coach K cusses as much or more than any coach in college basketball. I can't believe that you would even use his name in this discussion.
  8. \ The region tournament is at Heritage this year...
  9. Sevier County has already selected a coach and it's not Dodgen.
  10. How is Maryville not that good of a team? They had your beloved dogs beat at Maryville. I promise you, you don't want to play them in the district tournament.
  11. I meant to say the only team that has a chance to win the region is Maryville. My mistake. I think the district tournament will finish as follows. 1 Maryville 2 I'm going to change my second team to Farragut they are playing really well right now and they are hosting the tournament. 3 Bearden 4 William Blount William Blount will play Oak Ridge first round of the region. (Oak Ridge wins) Bearden will play Clinton. (Bearden wins) Farragut Will play West (Farragut wins) Maryville will play Halls (Maryville wins) I think West may be the surprise team from 3AAA. I think they upset Powell and make it. Halls and Clinton should be the other 3AAA teams to advance to the region. These are my predictions, go ahead and roast them.
  12. 6 South Doyle plays 7 Heritage and 8 Lenoir City plays 5 Sevier County on Friday The 6,7 winner plays 3 Farragut and the 5,8 winner plays 4 Maryville on Saturday. 1 Bearden and 2 William Blount have buys all the way to the semis on Tuesday. 1 will play the winner of 4 vs 5,8 and 2 will play the winner of 3 vs 6,7. The only team that has a chance to win a game in the Region is Maryville.
  13. 1 seed Bearden 2 seed William Blount 3 seed Farragut 4 seed Maryville 5 seed Sevier County 6 seed South Doyle 7 seed Heritage 8 seed Lenoir City Play in games 6 South Doyle vs 7 Heritage and 5 Sevier County vs 8 Lenoir City I think Maryville wins the tournament in an all Blount County Championship against William Blount. Farragut and Bearden play for 3rd. The only possible changes would be if Lenoir City beats Farragut tonight then Lenoir City swaps places with Heritage.
  14. Let ye without sin cast the first stone...Give me a break dude...His job was to take the doormat Vols and make winners out of them...If the worst you can come up with is using profanity, and trying to catch a cheater, boy that's really poor character. He is a solid coach and a winner.
  15. The News Sentinel interviewed a fan that was with Pearl and supposedly all he said was "Hey ref you have missed three calls in a row." Minett made eye contact and put his whistle in his mouth. Pearl said "As if he was going to give him a technical." Pearl said "What are you going to do throw me out." Then Minett got security and had him escorted out. Knox South referees are so concerned with being the center of focus in ball games. It is absolutely rediculous. Shane Minett, at a Lenoir City ball game this year showed how big of a jerk he can be. Lenoir City was up 1 with 55 seconds to play and had the ball and the assistant coach quietly said "be consistent". Without pause Minett stuck him and essentially took the game away from the Panthers. The best referees are the ones that nobody even realized they were in the gym. Nobody pays to come and watch the officials. It's a shame when they try to take the spotlight. I guess, based on most referees lack of abilities, they were obviously never in the spotlight as players, so they try as refs...What a joke.
  16. Just another example of some hot head jerk of an official demonstrating that there is no limit to his power. Referees are really pretty pathetic on the high school level. All power and very little knowledge. At least Pearl got a bird's eye view of how bad it is in East Tennessee. Maybe Pearl could complain to TSSAA and get something done before referee's completely ruin the integrity of this great game.
  17. Your probably right. Lenoir City basketball is a joke and Wartburg is for real. Lenoir City staying close the first time was just a fluke. I look for the game to be a big Wartburg win. Final score Wartburg 85-55. Go Dogs.
  18. Watching your beloved Chargers fall will be the highlight of the year for most coacht basketball fans. You can't just support your team without pulling down everyone else's. You sir are a pathetic excuse for a basketball fan and I'm sure Coach Armstrong and the Central boys would do just fine without you running your mouth 24/7. But it is people like you that put so much pressure on your team. I can see Central choking again this year. I just don't think it will be until the state tournament. And don't say it won't be a choke either...You have already proclaimed that they will have alot to say about where the gold ball resides. That's what everyone said last year before they laid an egg in the region...
  19. Oak Ridge lost to William Blount in a nail biter without three starters. They actually started two freshmen that game. Grant Domsic, Revelle Coffee, and Jared Stephens were all missing. They also didn't have two other of their current seven man rotation. So that game has absolutely no weight in anybody's book. Oak Ridge beat them without three starters. It probably wouldn't even be close. Oak Ridge is the best team in the East. Hands Down.
  20. It is always alot of fun to watch teams fall on their face because fans, ignorant ones at that, continually talk trash to other teams. Catholic deserves alot of respect to accomplish what they have accomplished in their first year in this district. For you to say that Austin East is not that good reiterates your basketball ignorance. I think McMinn Central is good and they will walk to the state because nobody in their region or substate can even play dead. It's probably the weakest AA basketball in America. Even so called pathetic Lenoir City is 3-1 against your district. Centrals weak schedule will hurt them when they actually have to play somebody in the state tournament. I guess the coaching staff is content to go 30-1 playing cupcakes all the way to the state tournament. And don't get on here and say anything about them playing McMinn County, and Cleveland because they are both average AAA teams this year. I don't know why I'm wasting my time with this because you are probably just an ignorant teenager that has not learned the values of respect or being humble.
  21. I love it when fans never give credit to the opposing team for the way they play. Did you ever think that the reason McMinn played bad might have something to do with the way Walker Valley played.
  22. Great job panthers. You have been steadily improving and still have alot of room for growth. Keep working and great things may be in store.
  23. The best in East Tennessee...Well none of you have Austin East in there and they are really, really good...Just ask Fulton who beat McMinn Central... My top 10 in East Tennessee looks like this... 1. Oak Ridge...Losing Coffee was a huge blow, but they have their motor back in Jared Stephens. They just killed Halls by 15 and it really wasn't even that close. 2. Bearden...Must be number 2 on the talent of three senior guards led by White. Lost only once and that was the fluke of the century to Sevier County. 3. Red Bank...Playing great as of now and don't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Ended Bradley's home winning streak at 1,000 games...(lol) 4. McMinn Central...Had their hic-cup against Fulton and returned to stride. Best AA team in East Tennessee. 5. Austin East... They went to West Tennessee and beat Dyersburg and only lost to Liberty by 2. They are very good and nobody seems to give them any credit. With Mitchell at the helm I guess nobody ever will. 6. Maryville...Has begun to hit stride and nobody has even noticed. They are very athletic and will continue to improve as the footballers continue to gel. 7. Halls...Until they lose a couple more games they will stay in the top 10. Sharpe is good enough to keep them winning. 8. Science Hill...Making it to the semi's of the Arby's means they are good...However, Oak Ridge handled them in a scrimmage day without their footballers so they can't be that good. 9. Catholic...They just keep winning with smothering man to man defense and Matt Parton can flat out stroke it. 10. Clinton...probably will finish 2nd in district 3AAA behind Oak Ridge...Dixon and Dye are lethal... Alcoa is also very good but losing to William Blount keeps them out. I'm no expert and don't claim to be...I just wanted to give some food for thought.
  24. I personally think that a program is only as good as the players that play in it...If you have DI caliber players year in and year out, then you have a solid chance to compete every year. In the last 15 years, Lenoir City has only had one player sign a DI scholarship and that was mid major. Bolivar for example has two high major D-1 players on the same team. Some programs just don't have the horses and will never have them...
  25. Oak Ridge 63 Halls 50 Oak Ridge, without Coffee is still too much for Halls. Stephens is back and he makes OR 15 points better. I don't expect it to be much of a game. Halls is overrated.
