  1. Good game Dyer County.......I know exactly how it feels to be almost there, but just never enough to climb over the hill....good luck next season....#30 '05
  2. So you call transferring.........recruiting? Let me break it down: If you have never been around players in the locker room, or were a player yourself, then you wouldn't understand this. These situations are what I call "I don't want to play for this particular coach b/c ________" DC would have still been good the previous two years if Butch would've stayed, b/c the players "liked to play for this particular coach". But he didn't stay, Frodden came in, players soon formed their opinion, and then said "I don't want to play for this particular coach," and most of the talent left. Note: If the coach respects the players and the players CAN see the outcome of their hard work at practice, players will stay at their school. But if one of these two barriers break down, especially RESPECT, players will soon form their OWN opinion, and either quit the team or transfer somewhere else. It's as simple as that......basic common sense coming from a players perspective. DC has and always will have talent. They just needed the right person to harness it. And with McCord, having respect for his players and players seeing the outcome of their hard work, did just that. Unlike others I know...... /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  3. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> WHY IS SOME DYERSBURG PERSON ALWAYS HATING ON DYER COUNTY!!??!! WHY DO I ALWAYS HEAR SOMETHING NEGATIVE WHEN SOMETHING POSITIVE FROM DC ARISES.......JUST SHUT IT ALL UP, THEY HAVE BEEN HEARING IT FOR TOO LONG.......AND WHY DOES DC HAVE TO RECRUIT ANYWAY??........YOU NEED TO LOOK AT WHO IS RUNNING YOUR ATHETLICS AT DYERSBURG INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT THE PLAYERS DC HAS AND BLAMING IT ON THEM!!! DANG!! But I digress.......... /mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />
  4. I was just wondering if anybody thinks the 2001 squad was better than this year's squad? Don't get me wrong I'm loving this years squad. I was just wondering about this b/c if we beat Whitehouse, and Liberty is as good as people say they are, they may give DC a little trouble but I believe we could win. Although if the 2001 squad would've played Liberty this year, I would seriously believe the game would be DC all the way. If DC in 2001 would've gotten national recognition, I believe they could've been ranked nationally just like Liberty this year, even if they had 5 starters in the whole game!
  5. I think that if Coach Hopkins or Starks would've stayed as DC coaches, and Froedden would've been the Assistant coach/motivational speaker for DC players, the b-ball team would have went a long way, physically as well as mentally.....when Hopkins was there, athletes that I can recall during my years their went to college: Courtney Jones, Montrelle, Brian, John Morris. Other players like Cyrus Johnson, and Perry had scholarships to go to college but they just didn't want to go....Hopkins was there for those kids day and night, just like Froedden is, so you gotta give Hopkins credit where credit is due. Well If they were in summer camp, and they just had to adjust to a new coach as well as learn new plays, wouldn't you think that it would not be pretty??? I remember Hopkins talking about how good Lambert was and how he basically had to run the team all by himself. But I never heard about the 98-99 season so I can't elaborate on something I don't know.
  6. CJ will be as good, if not better, then his brother Montrelle. I think he averaging about 10-15 points as a freshman. I think if he gets a little more help on the floor their is no telling how many more open shots he could get. That's true...Dyer County adms. really don't care anymore if they win or not since they got hit with so many accusations that year. If Froedden would've came about 3 or 4 years ago, I'm 95% sure that most, if not all, of the starters would've quit and that there wouldn't have been any accusations with b-ball athletics....If Hopkins or Starks would've stayed (=more accusations), there would've been no telling of how many regional, substate, and state appearances that DC would've had......especially in 04-05 b/c I know for a fact that DC were at least 14-15 good players deep in the spring and summer.......they could've started 5 different players every game. But Froedden weeded out the bad apples and others just quit basically b/c of his style of practicing and playing.
  7. And where was martin-westview?, oops i forgot they got put out by DC
  8. I was on the team, so I know a little about b-ball....when we played ridgeway in the semifinals we were in foul trouble so we couldn't d-up as hard as we needed to in da 1st half, and they still only beat us by 4 and killed their other opponents by about 30 in the finals.....so really when we played Ridgeway, that was the championship game!!
  9. I really do think they would've LeBron's team (i dunno about Lebron though) a good matchup....Yeah they were the best from NW TN and would've beat any team in TN or the U.S. any given day........i can personally remember when the team went to summer camp in Peoria, Ill, and played many teams out of Chicago beating them all by 10 or more.....and WesCharge if you are from Martin, you should remember when we played Martin Westview in the regionals at Fayette-Ware HS and Perry Powell did a 360 slam dunk in the game (just bringing back those memories). No Crittendon never did go to MTSU.....he went to Volunteer State CC for two years and is now playing at Auburn University-Montgomery.......Last time I heard about Powell, he's still hanging around in Newbern.
  10. Do you think that Dyer County will ever get their swagger back?? I was thinkin back to about 4 years ago or so when they were virtually unstoppable (they would've given Lebron's h/s team a run for its money!) offensively with their many 3's and dunks, as well as defensively with their hard-nosed matchup zone.....now I just look at them, and although they are playing very hard, wondered what has happened.....well i guess that the 2000-03 seasons were an end to one of the best h/s teams in TN that I have ever played for.....any comments? *Dust yourself off, and try again next year DC *
  11. I heard that winning at Union City's house is very hard. They said that the officiating there is horrible. What are some of your opinions?
  12. what about the faulkner girl?? what do you mean?/
  13. The best basketball movie ever was "Hoop Dreams". It was a true story about two boys from Chicago aspiring to get to the NBA.
  14. The players from last year that will return this year will be Montrelle Crittendon Brian Fisk. The boy that from Florida that you were asking about was 6'11 Dustin Bird. I believe that we will have as great of a season as we had this year. We will also have new incoming and returning players from around the county that will help us acheive the goal of going to state and winning that Gold Ball!!!
