  1. Didn't Bradley Central almost lose to East Hamilton last night?
  2. Yeah...I was just fixin to go make me a big mess of crow to eat. I'm glad they held off the rally. Thanks BTW for making it at least fun to watch.
  3. I guess we will have to wait another year for that Memphis sweep. Good job Fulton.
  4. I guess we will have to wait another year on that Memphis Sweep.
  5. Anybody else think that BTW's shot selection is a little questionable?
  6. As I stated on another thread, it appeared that the indians were running the reservation at BHS, and to me that is what seems to be what got them beat. Sure Blevins subbed the way he wanted to and it probably cost him a gold ball, but I'm not sure he really wanted to win one that badly with those kids. They have the worst attitudes I have ever seen on a basketball court. His only control at this point was playing time, so I guess in the end he really had the last laugh. Congratulations Mark, you are chief of your reservation once again.
  7. Jesus turned over the tables in the temple if my memory serves me correctly. By the way are you a member of the nice police. Believe me all the trash talking that the Bearden fans and players have done this year, it's time to eat some crow.
  8. Good to see justice served. Those jerks didn't didnt deserve to win anything. From their arrogant coach to their arrogant fans. I heard Demonte Simpson took his shoes off in front of the scorers table during or before the post game hand shake. Just an example of how bad it has gotten at Bearden. Congratulations NE on taking out the trash.
  9. Only common opponent is Bradley Central and Walker Valley hammered them three times and Shelbyville beat them as well. It all comes down to Walker Valley hitting the 3 ball. They have hit 15 3's many times this year. You will see soon enough. The only thing most fans will hear alot of will be...Ware for 3, Trotter for 3, Sharp for 3, and Burrell for 3.
  10. Nobody outside of Bearden High School and their fans will be rooting for the bull dogs. They are arrogant and really have zero class. They have ran up the score on too many people over the last two years to get any respect from other East Tennessee basketball fans. I saw Blake Jenkins get into a verbal altercation with the Oak Ridge coach the other night. It was completely initiated by Jenkins too. It's really sad that Blevins lets this kind of behavior go on. Looks like the indians are running that reservation, not the chief. I hope White Station or Ridgeway drops the hammer on them.
  11. Cleveland applies as much pressure as anyone around and Walker Valley handled them three times. I say Walker Valley by 8, if they shoot it well by 16-18.
  12. You are validating my point. The coaches hands are tied. They are not allowed to discipline kids for not coming. I will agree that if they are not going to follow through with what they say then they are losing the players respect.
  13. All good programs make workouts mandatory. Like I said, it is not advertised as mandatory but it is understood and accepted to be by the athletes and the parents. Then the administration will support the coaches when some lazy kids parents come and complain because little Johnny is having to work for something. I also think that athletes gravitate toward great motivators. At LC however, great motivators are shot down by the administration. If you motivate you are told that you shouldn't influence the kids to want to work hard. You shouldn't pressure them to want more than 0-10. It is a joke from the top. I'm sorry but it's true.
  14. If what you are saying is true. That they are as dedicated as Maryville, and working as hard, then that could only mean that they are not winning for one of two reasons. Either no talent or no coaching. Which do you really think it is? How many players at Lenoir City can run a sub 4.7 40? How many players can squat 300 lbs, bench 250, and power clean 200? I would venture to say, very few.
  15. While LC might have 25-30 kids in the weight room during the summer, I would venture to say that Maryville has all of them there. You know around 90-100. That is a 65-70 percent advantage. It isn't hard to see the difference.
  16. Do you think any good program looks at off season workouts as though they are optional. No they probably don't verbally say that the workout is mandatory, but I can garantee that the workouts at Maryville, Powell, Central, Halls, and West are not optional. That's why they continually stomp a mud hole in Lenoir City.
  17. The one and only reason Lenoir City can't compete in football is that the coaches are not allowed to hold the athletes accountable due to the lack of support from the administration. A couple of years ago, a parent went whining to that bafoon of a superintendent that Coach White and his staff were actually making off season workouts and conditioning segments mandatory. Well, what did the superintendent do about the complaints? Did he A) Support the coaching staff in trying to build a winning program; or did he Cower to the parent with the loudest bark. You guessed it. I wonder what the administration at Maryville thinks about off - season workouts? I bet Maryville's coaching staff lets their players come and go as they please during the off season. I'll bet they even have cupcakes and brownies at some of their workouts to celebrate all those championships. Get real people. You get what you deserve. LC's program don't work hard. And it's not because the coaches don't know how to work. They are not allowed to. Beyond the idiot superintendent you have a principal that thinks the kids are working too hard as it is. If I was the leader of a school whose football team was headed for 0-10, I dang sure wouldn't be telling the coaches they are pushing the kids too hard. Of course you never know how much trickle effect comes from the top. I'm a firm believer that the cheif's priorities can be seen on full display in that vocational school while the athletic facilities are crumbling all around it. I will not attend another Lenoir City athletic function until the "I Could Care Less About Athletics or Whether They Win or Lose" superintendent is ousted. You want a winning program. Get some leadership that cares about athletics, not woodshop.
  18. As long as the people in charge in Lenoir City are in charge, their athletic programs will struggle. Athletics don't mean anything to the central office staff and therefore don't mean anything to anyone else in the system.
  19. This is really starting to get out of hand. N2Choctaws is still bitter towards me because I made some derogatory comments about his beloved choctaws. As for kids at Dyer County being discarded. I would say that there are several from the two state tournament teams that you might say were discarded. You know the hero today, loser tommorrow type players. They are everywhere, and anyone who follows basketball in this state knows players from all across it who fall by the wayside. You already know my connection with Coach Hopkins and I'll not bore these folks with that story. The comment about kids falling by the wayside was meant for Pete Froedden who's now at Sycamore and that was only due to my conversations with Coach Hopkins about how Froedden ran off all the good players after he left. I actually don't even know any of their names. So quit trying to twist posts into something they are not. As for me and my coaching, I coached baseball at Sweetwater for two years and desire to return to coaching one day. So you can find another question. As stated before I would love to meet with govman at either the freshmen game or the varsity game with LC. Again it will all depend on my wife's schedule.
  20. First off let me start by saying I am not someone trying to stir anything up in Lenoir City. I also would like to say that I am not a Tony Williams basher. I was just questioning why his teams can't seem to win the close ones. I do think the program is going in the right direction. As for us meeting, govman, I am not opposed to that. I have two small children and my wife is a nurse that just got switched to second shift. I don't usually travel with the panthers, but I do make it to most of the home games, or at least I did when we (my wife and I) could go to the games together. I will definately try to get a sitter for the William Blount game. I would enjoy saying hello.
  21. Maryville brings one of the best basketball teams in East Tennessee to Lenoir City on Tuesday night. Do the Panthers have a chance? Lenoir City has seemed to stumble as of late and have not really been playing very good basketball. They need shooters to step up and make some shots and their defense must do a much better job shutting down dribble penetration. Rebounding will also be a huge factor with Maryville boasting the largest team around. I think Lenoir City will have to play almost perfect and Maryville will have to stumble for the home team to have a chance. Final Score Maryville 64 Lenoir City 48
  22. As of now the district shapes up like this... Farragut Bearden Lenoir City Maryville William Blount South Doyle Heritage Sevier County I think it will end like this Farragut Maryville Bearden Lenoir City Heritage William Blount South Doyle Sevier County I do think that Maryville will win the tournament and since they are hosting it that should help them.
  23. The combined record for their opponents is 41-70 and Nine of the eleven opponents have .500 or worse records. They are off to an 11-1 start but I think it will kill them come tournament time. Any other teams fall in this category?
  24. McMinn will get one game that should be somewhat challenging. Mcminn Central opted to not play them and as a result Lenoir City will be taking their place. Lenoir City won't be a push over for the tribe. I cannot figure out why Central would cower out of a matchup with the Cherokees. I guess Coach Armstrong, now that he has lost all of his talent, can't handle the other side. Good luck Panthers.
  25. Excuse me. Powell will win the district? Powellfan...You had to be drunk when you made that post. Oak Ridge will definately win that district and they might go undefeated. They have way too much athleticism. They have a couple of lock down defenders that will keep Hargis and Conner in check. Powell is a good team but be realistic.
