This kid has had a wild year. Averaging 25 pts., 13 rbs., 7 blks. a game was just not enough for TSSAA. Congradulations to all the players that made All-State but we all know that the AP All-State teams are jokes this year. Being bashed for having a weak schedule hurt his chances at a Mr. Basketball canidate but his schedule was as week as Puckett's. This kid is a new breed of basketball player that has a special talent. From his deadly 3pt. jumper to his aray of post moves. It's a shame he didn't get the recognition he deserves.

I believe this game will consist of just this years seniors. Though the West is still highly favored with the Delks, Prince, Webb, Mason, Doaks, etc...

Will there be a West vs. East All-Star game? If so, who all will be playing in it???

TSSAA really screwed Tyler Smith and Xavier Webb this year. Smith had been nominated for 3 years straight and Webb lead the state in points, rebounds, and blocks per game in A!!!

Ridiculous, I didn't know 20 pts. made someone not worthy of a Mr. Basketball nomination. Versatility is the major reason he got a scholarship. There are hundreds of 6'9 guys but not all of them can shoot and put the ball on the floor like Webb can. Just because you saw him have a 20 pt. game agianst a good player like North doesn't mean North is worthy of a Mr. Basketball nomination. Doaks had 12 pts. agianst JCS does that not make him worthy of a Mr. Basketball nomination?

Skogen will get it because of the same reason Webb didn't get nominated, and thats politics...

Good post, in this case why wasn't Xavier Webb nominated??? Puckett is a good player but Xavier is a better player than any of the three, in my opinion. Good luck to all three nominees though.

What players this year deserve to be All State? Who's the best in positions 1 through 5 in the State???

Everyone knows that the War Eagles have struggled when Webb is not hitting. Last night West Carroll guard play really suffered and in my opion is what killed there chances of making it to the next round. They've had a weak schedule but when they beat Greenfield and Trenton I didn't see as many posts about them playing well. Yeah, mosterman99 went overboard on some post but West Carroll had a good group of kids this season that never really got it clicking as a team. Congradulations to Xavier Webb and the rest of the seniors on outstanding career.

I think the incident agianst Lake Co. put a him a little farther behind Webb. Doaks is a phenomenal player but just let his emotions get the best of him. Webb game is smoother and he doesn't show much as emotion on the court as Doaks but end the end it benifited him in this aspect. Im going with Webb for Mr. Basketball but the Skogen kid will be his closest contender following Pickett Co.'s Joe Bailey.

What a surprise?! Another thread about Webb and the "overrated" West Carroll War Eagles. This kid can play ball. Everyone knows that. You can say he got pushed around his freshman year, but who didn't!? He has to be one of the most improved players in the State in any classification from his freshman to senior year. He has converted from a straight post to a big man with slashing and pure shooting capabilities. The kid has game regardless of who they play or how his team plays. He can't do it all now that he will be facing more competition in regional and sectional tournaments but he did bring his team this far and some need to give him his due.

Xavier Webb, in my opinion, is the best basketball player in single A ball because he can beat you in anyway he feels. Everyone knows he can post, shoot the jumper, and stroke the 3. The point is he is not the coach and he cannot help who he plays agianst on his schedule. What he can do is dominate who he plays night in and night out, which he has done all season. Now when you mention Doaks, he can play ball and is clearly the better [/b]athelete and can jump out of the gym, one of the best in the state but Webb is a better skilled and more developed basketball player. Now when you talk about Webb and his supporting cast. Yes, they are streaky but even when they are he still carries them on his back to the win on the defensive and offensive end. Good luck to both guys but im going with Xavier Webb for Mr. Basketball but if I was voting for Mr. Athlete I would vote for Nicchaeus Doaks.

I see West Carroll ended their regular season 24-1. How are his stats and how is he shaping up in his running for Mr. Basketball going into tournament time?

This was a wake up call for West Carroll. Everyone knows that Milan is not better than West Carroll. Not taking anything from Milan but West Carroll is still a way better team. Milan couldn't do anything with Webb but they realized that if they mad there shooters shoot of the dribble that they could stop them. Milan just wanted it more than WC tonight. Keep your head up and improving Eagles and congrats Bulldogs.
