  1. Just noted on the gaterade.com web site that Curt Phillips was named Gatorade Player of the Year from Tennessee. Congrats on a well deserved honor! It's been a special time watching Curt exhibit the best qualities of what is great about high school football. Witnessing his commitment to excellence on and off the field and giving it all to serve the team has been an inspiration.
  2. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> There we have it. Your statement "the problems that I perceived with his game really were problems with HIS game" tells us that your perception is reality. Your eyes are more accurate than electronic timing. Hold the presses while I'll alert the media that the source of all football knowledge feels the need to spew more toxic criticism. Having read your egocentric posts, I was concerned you wouldn't pause a moment to consider the attached objective opinions of others. But then why would you take the time now to become informed before you continue your criticism. Just shoot from the hip and care less of the effect of your actions. Your last sentence is a weak, transparent, hollow attempt to appear gracious. In the same manner, I hope you prove me wrong in my belief that you are this web site's equivalent of a hemorhoid (?sp), by stopping your public criticism of the kids and getting a life away from the computer. Do I need to capitalize it to prove my sincerity? Panthers08, if you're that weak and can't help yourself, move on to grace another site or topic, but warn them to get out their Preparation H before your start in on your next victims. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  3. Panthers08 It's now official; you stand alone atop the all-time leader board of CoachT. No person with so little personal observation of a 17 yr old h.s. player has made more numerous critical posts. Dr. Phil might conclude that you get perverted gratification and attention by publicly and anonymously criticizing a minor by name and then repeating it ad nauseum. This could be secondary to either: 1. A need to prop up your very low self esteem, possibly due to multiple beatings as a child, impotence or sexual ambiguity 2. Undiagnosed or under treated mania of a manic-depressive. Supporting this conclusion are symptoms such as: obsessive behavior including spending an unhealthy amount of time on-line repeating the same inappropriate comments to the point that others get annoyed and attempt to have you go elsewhere, and grandiose delusions (absurd delusions of a one's personal abilities and importance) such as watching one game from a distance and considering your opinion to evaluate ability above established professionals with more time spent doing side by side comparisons, i.e. Tom Lemming, Rivals, ESPN and college coaches. See below for support. Dr. Phil's recommendations might include taking pause for introspection. If you are healthy enough to recognize and address your problems by communicating only when your opinion is worthy of another person's time, good luck in what is sure to be a struggle on a difficult road to recovery. Your parents should have taught you of the potential damage done by unwise and critical words and to first ask yourself if what you are about to say or do is constructive or destructive. You ultimately reap what you sow. If you are too far gone, as it appears, then you will likely utilize your overactive defense mechanism of denial and claim innocence and freedom of speech, oblivious to the ill effects of your actions. Make the world a better place and spare us of your mental midgetry by seeking psychological evaluation and possible initiation of shock therapy. http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stories/082807adq.html http://footballrecruiting.Unapproved Website/viewp...sp?pr_key=56102 Rivals top rated in order as of 11/15/07: Dual-threat quarterback Stars RR Ht/Wt/40 Hometown Rank Schools 1. 4. Congrats South Rebels on the MoWest win! Well played with a balanced passing and running attack. Smart with minimal mistakes. Solid, inspired defense until well ahead in the second half. That first half may have been the highest caliber of high school football I've ever seen. From play calling to execution. Impressive! I hope South fans fully appreciate the hard work of the coaches and players that has resulted in the great run the teams have had these last few years. It's truely been special and done with class. Celebrate the victory through the week-end, then bring extreme focus on Greeneville. They will bring a potent combination of speed, power and misdirection including a solid passing game. The best you've faced. If you play next Friday as you did the first half tonight, you'll be just one game away from the state championship game. If that opportunity can't get you fired up to focus more than ever before, you need to check to see if you still have a pulse. Only 8 teams are left standing. All are excellent. Play your game with maximum focus and intensity and after next Friday night you will be one of the FINAL 4. Just Bring It! No regrets!

  6. Congrats, M East. You guys came with a great game plan and executed it with near perfection. Very well disciplined and got the most out of your players. You put South on the ropes early with the opening run back for a near touchdown which turned into a quick score, followed by interceptions of two deflected passes which made it 21 zip in a hurry. Great ball control offense and a bend and hard to break defense. South never was able to stop you combination of speed and power. South's tackling effort has been much better, but then that has a bit to do with who you're trying to bring down. Hats off to an extremely well coached team and some seniors who got some avenge their season ending losses to South the last two years. Well done. Great season, South. You played all season with the class and heart tought by a great coaching staff.
  7. Good post, Hustle_Will_Win. Your class wears well.
  8. P. Smith is one tough cookie. He took 2 of the hardest shots near the sidelines that I've seen. One was when he was knocked through the fence, almost hitting the fence post. I believe the flag thrown on the play was not for the hit, but elsewhere. The other was on the South side when 2 of South's hardest hitters, Wingfield and Dykes gave him the one-two punch. Wingfield first hit him hard enough to take most anyone down. It stood Smith up for the patented Dykes body slam. Yet still Smith got right back up. Impressive! I know Smith is tough, but a good lesson would be to consider going out of bounds without that last half of yard. You will do your team more good if you are able to get up and still be able to see for the next play. I was also impressed by the show of sportsmanship by both teams. Many players were helping each other up and avoiding the trash talking. Good luck to the Cyclones for the rest of the year.
  9. As predicted, South's coaches and players have shown their character and talent to rebound from the "series of most unfortunate events" at J. Fred to stake their claim atop the MLC. Congratulations and keep the fire stoked.
  10. Jcolter, You were quite the expert on this call. Good show! By the way, hopefully this reality check will remind everyone that trash talkers don't have to know much football to blow hard on this site. Let's recall all who deserve double servings of crow by reviewing the many preceeding pages of predictions/proclamations. Bon appetit!
  11. Congrats DB on a large win. You gotta love those LBs. Give credit to the Indians for making the best of turnovers and red zone scoring. Would like to see some stats on DBs performance in the red zone. It's got to be impressive. I'm still not certain at this early stage of the season how DB will do when they don't get momentum early. They clearly have a killer instinct when they smell blood, but hopefully they have the fight to go toe-to-toe in a 15 rounder. Enjoyed Coach Clark's quote in the paper when he was asked in his wildest dreams did he think the game would go as it did, he responded that his wildest dreams are NOT about football. Roll Tribe!
  12. Quote from Compusatman: "Jamesbad...I agree, everyone should lighten up. However, put the shoe on the other foot. Let's imagine what the DB ontarage would do and say if Graham Clark made the same carreer ending blunder that Stacy Carter did." Compusatman, Let's remember back just one short year ago when DB lost their starting QB early in the game as visitors to South and had difficulty on offense the rest of the game. DB's offense the final quarter was nonexistent with QB keepers left and right. DB won by a single point on a missed PAT, but they were running for their lives as South lost 3 fumbles deep in DB territory in the final 5 minutes. That was not near the beating that DB dished out last week, but there were comparable factors....early season unexpected injuries to key offensive players of the visiting team and limited adaptation of game plan. There were disappointed DB supporters making posts on this site speaking of how Graham had been outcoached by Stacy (imagine that), but I don't remember anyone asking for his head on a platter. Well let's remember what DB did after that game last year. They regrouped and had one very successful season, meanwhile teaching another group of young men the meaning of perserverance and it's value in life. Dwell on that for a moment........ In football as in life, even the best may occasionally stumble when punched in the gut and people pile on, but I'm confident that Stacy will do as Graham did, regroup and mentor young men, with or without the support Chicken Littles. Regarding your later quote about Phillips' ball handling decisions and stat padding......... "That however does not disspell what Pudding said about him. He does withdraw the ball from Taylor Fletcher and follow him up the hole because he knows Fletcher will bulldoze whatever is in front of him. AND he does hand the ball off when the hole is closed so as not to tarnish his stats."........you have absolutely nothing to base that accusation on. I don't know where you and Pudding get that. Taylor played freshman ball last year while Phillips played for the varsity. This year they have only had 2 games and a jamboree together. Check my accounting for those outings and connect the dots. Jamboree- in the one quarter Phillips threw or handed off throughout. He did run several times the evening before in a scrimmage with Volunteer, but that certainly wasn't to pad the stats. The game with H.V. had Curt with 3 or 4 carries, depending on which press account you choose. If he and Stacy were going to "pad his stats", don't you think he would played longer than 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter when he had completed only 5 (of 5) passes and 3 or 4 carries for <50yds.? That would have been a great time to break some records and do some serious padding. Didn't happen and isn't on their agenda. The DB game also provided no support for arguement as you may remember there were no holes, Curt kept it in the face of repeated jailbreaks and was given a lumber beating. Basis for your accusation........vapor and vengence, maybe? Find a quiet place and heal, my son. Some might conclude you have a personal bone to pick and chose to snipe. Let's give Coach Carter and his staff the respect they deserve and let them have the same opportunity given to Coach Clark last year ........to teach young men by example how to handle adversity, persevere and hopefully succeed. Otherwise these young players may finish school and become disgruntled adults looking to sow weeds of discontent in the form of toxic web posts. Maybe I've stumbled onto a motivation for such posts......misery loves company. Just a thought......
  13. Just a few comments in response to the hanging "puddin" party: Lighten up! You can't really be supporters of the program or high school football in general as you offer up such toxicity. Puddins' final line tells you his level of commitment and support, "I think next year, I'll just skip the DB at South game.... you don't want my 2 cents anyway". You got that right. Shoot, I forgot... you drove 35 minutes to get to the game. Your medal of honor is in the mail. Coach Carter and his staff have done a great job turning the program around since the moment he took the job. Check the records and get a grasp of their commitment to the program and their players. It speaks for itself to those who are receptive to the truth. They had a bad game, but don't deserve to be assassinated. It's telling how certain personalities/characters expose themselves by piling on and stirring it up when someone has faultered. Yes, your team (or so you say) plays a bad game and you toss a grenade at their leadership and walk away. Easy when you can single out real people by name and attack them anonymously. The gentlemen you attack will pick up the pieces and move on. Your statements about Phillips selfishness don't make sense either. You say, "Tell me, why is it that if there is any kind of a hole formed by the offensive line, Phillips pulls the ball and follows the RB through the hole? Why is it when there is no hole, Phillips gladly gives the ball away." You can't be basing that on last year when both of their most talented RBs, McMillin and Sandidge had great years. The D. never knew who had the ball...ask DB or anyone in the MLC. You must be basing it on the Happy Valley game....well no, Phillips only ran it 4 times with 2 being scrambles. Then it must have been in the jamboree, but then he didn't run at all. That leaves the scrimmage against Volunteer when he was selfishly trying to pad his all important scrimmage stats. That leaves the DB game that we just painfully endured. You can't be telling us that when he doesn't see a hole, he gives it to the back. There was no hole, he kept the ball and got rocked. Yea, he's selfish like that to pad his stats. The way I saw it, there were a couple of times that he missed a read and paid the price, but it certainly wasn't because he was selfish. He's a high school football player doing the best he can, just like the center that got hurt and the soph. replacement that got stuck into a bad situation that got worse. Who's more disappointed, the players and coaches or you? This year could be tough for South. They graduated some great seniors, have limited depth and have already lost some critical players from this years squad. The MLC is looking stout. The true character of an individual/team/supporter is revealed when adversity is encountered. The jury is out, but I'm betting on the 1st two and the majority of the 3rd. Unfortunately there will always be masked, unfulfilled grumblers waiting for someone to stumble so they can temporarily feel better by pretending to be experts and piling on. Support these young coaches and players rather than attack and try to divide them. If you feel a great need to inform them of their errors, send them a note, schedule an appointment or invite them to your next coaching clinic. Show the same class you criticise DB's #20 for not having. On a more positive note, congrats to D.B. on a great game. Also, the D.B. band rocks. They are a first class organization that represents our region well. If both student sections and crowds could show the same class as the band and coaching staffs, we would be all the better.

  15. Everyone in the region was hoping to see a great game when both teams showed their A-game. It didn't happen.....not close. When South lost their starting center 2 days before the game, South players and fans hoped for the best. Well, all that could go wrong early did and it went down hill from there. Football is a game of momentum and things can get out of hand in a hurry. Make no mistake, it's clear that the best team won, but South got struck by lightning three times and never showed the ability to bounce back or adjust. Not a good thing. One game does not a season, player or coach make. South will regroup, heal, learn and improve. Those in the area who know football know what they can do. Tonight didn't reflect it. It does look like depth could be a problem, particularly if the RB's Fletcher and Collins have significant injuries. By the way, regarding the posts about Duran Furgason, he had a great arm, strong enough to pitch BB at a D-1 school. His arm wasn't what kept him from being recruited for football. Comparing Curt at this point in the season isn't exactly fair. Coming off surgery and rehab, his arm strength won't be back for a couple of months. Players with shoulder and knee surgery usually don't really get it back until the 2nd year. He didn't get to throw at all until a few weeks before the season opener and that was very limited. Most of the posts on this site had him playing wide receiver or DB until the last couple of weeks. How quickly we forget. He looks to have the other desireable QB assets the Furgason didn't. Time will tell. Congrats to DB on a most impressive showing. Good luck to both programs. Our region hopes both improve and represent us in Murfreesboro.
