  1. I think it would be wise for the players to not get too pumped up right now. Wait til tomorrow night before you do that. There's no need to emotionally drain yourself a day before a big game. I'm excited too though. I wish it were here. I'm ready for all this talk to be over and let these two fine teams decide it out on the field. It's gonna be a good football game and I hope a good atmosphere at CG tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to it!! CG-42 OS-14 Panther Pride!!!!!
  2. I hope we still get to see that matchup myself!!!!!!!!!!
  3. That's true. The teams in that region are the perennial powers that everyone longs to be like. When you think about it, if you can stay on the field with some of them, you have accomplished something. I think that's what the Panthers are trying to do. Prove to people, and themselves, that this year, they belong in there. This year, they got a shot of competing with those guys. This year, is their year to shine. They are a hard headed bunch. It's gonna be tough for anybody to to tell them they don't belong!!!
  4. That's a good point pujo. Region 2 will be the favorite in everybody's eyes until somebody knocks them off. That's one thing about CG this year though, anytime that they have been challenged, these kids have stepped up. I don't expect anything less on Friday. Everyone's right about region 1 vs. region 2. I think some things may change a little bit on Friday though!!! Panther Pride!!! CG-42 OS-14
  5. ...lol... ...they're a pretty good team...lol...They only have 5 or 6 D1 guys this year!!!
  6. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on making the playoffs. However, now they have to go to Catholic. Good year for the Dogs, but it will probably end Friday. Catholic wins big. Catholic-54 Claiborne-6
  7. I look for the Panthers load up to stop the run and try to not give up the big play through the air. That is a recipe for success if you are CG. CG's rush defense has been good all year and Oliver Spring's rushing game is their bread and butter. If CG can put OS in 2nd/3rd and long situations, they will win the game. If they let OS control the line of scrimmage and run the ball effectively, it could be a long night for the Panthers. I look for a good ballgame but I still think that CG will win going away. CG-42 OS-14 Panther Pride!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Agree 110%!!!! One at a time has been the Gap's order of business all year and I don't expect anything different this week.
  9. Thanks for the encouragement. We wish Hampton and Cloudland luck as well. I heard about that game!!! Maybe a rematch on the horizon???
  10. That's weird. Must have been an early Halloween omen!!!! hey pujo, just wondering where you're from and who you pull for. And if you've seen either of these teams play this year?
  11. Fun to look at, but that and 50 cents will buy you a coke at a machine!!!!
  12. Thanks. I kinda like it when CG is the underdog, it seems they play better then!!!!
  13. That's an excellent point. Here's my thoughts. In a lopsided game, play the big boys the first half, and the first series of the second half. If you're up 60-0 then so be it. That's a good way to keep your good ones sharp, and get your pups some pt. That's just the doc's prescription!!!!
  14. Hey pujo, just wondering where you saw that OS was a 1 point favorite? I'd like to see that if they're giving odds somewhere!!!
  15. Don't know, but what point does running up the score prove when you already know you are a superior team. That to me doesn't show much class at all. But that's just my opinion.
  16. No contest. Alcoa by as many as they want!!!
  17. Alright, the playoffs are here. Everybody (that's left) is 0-0. So this in turn is a new season. Cumberland Gap ended the season on a 9 game winning streak. Oliver Springs lost 4 of their last 5. So momentum goes to CG. I saw where CAK lit up Oliver Spriings through the air. CG runs a similar style offense. Advantage: CG. Oliver Springs has to make the trip to Cumberland Gap. Advantage: CG. Oliver Springs has a great defense with two great linebackers. Advantage: OS. Oliver Springs runs the bal very well. Advantage OS. Pretty even huh? So I'm gonna say that CG will go into this game ready to stop the run and play with a lot of emotion. This is their first ever home playoff game. The atmosphere should be electric. I hope so anyway. CG has worked their butts off this year to win this region and finish 9-1. Could very well be 10-0 if not for a few missed opportunities in the first game of the season. It all boils down to this, if you don't win, your season is over. These CG boys will fight and play their hearts out because I know they want to keep playing. I'm gonna say that it's close at first, then CG pulls away later in the game. Go Panthers and let's bring this one home. CG-42 OS-14 Panther Pride!!!!!!
  18. OK, look over them then, but I can't wait to say I told you so!!!!
  19. All I can say is you better not overlook South Greene. They are a very good football team. I think CAK will have trouble blocking them and keeping them off of Harb. They're fast, aggressive, and will flat bring it on defense. They're offense has improved greatly since the addition of the transfer from Dobyns-Bennett. The run the veer offense and have a great fullback in Laws and now they have a great tailback to compliment him. Plus you're playing at South Greene. I pick South Greene in this one, maybe by at least two scores. SG-35 CAK-21
  20. I would say South Greene, Happy Valley and Gatlinburg Pittman (who Oliver Springs defeated in the first game of the season). It should be a very hard fought game. I'll give my complete analysis and prediction in about 30 minutes.
  21. I agree, great job both schools. Best of luck to both in the playoffs. Although I am Panther Pride thru and thru, I am also a Claiborne Co. citizen and hope that the entire county goes out and supports either of their teams on Friday. Congrats to both schools!!!!!
  22. Not much of a game. But a good warm-up for the playoffs I guess. I was a little disappointed in the crowd attendance though. Maybe it was the cold, maybe it was the competition. But next week we need EVERYBODY out to support these Panthers in their first ever home playoff game.
  23. Forget about what happens in a few weeks, I am looking forward to tonights game. I can't wait to see the Panthers back on the field. It seems like forever since they played!!!! I also hear they got a few offensive surprises to throw at ya this week. It oughta be a great night at the Gap, and a big night for the Seniors at CGHS. Panthers win big! CG-56 WG-6 Panther Pride!!!!!!!
  24. In the odd years, odd regions get the home field advantage with two teams having identical records. So if there was a matchup with the GAp and Alcoa, then CG would hold the homefield advantage. But that is a ways off and neither team will be looking to that unless it happens. But to answer your question, I'm pretty sure that I am right. But you can check the TSSAA website to be sure. TSSAA.org. Thanks.
