  1. You can't say that, because you are too young to know what went on in the early and mid-nineties. Hampton hit harder and played harder than they ever did. Brian Taylor was one of the best backs in Hampton history. B.J. Taylor and Mark Watson was the deadliest running back duo in Hampton history. Hampton was in 2-A and the playoff seeds were a lot tougher back then if you know the history. I was there. Teams across the state are cupcake now compared to what they used to be. I can judge the level of competition because I was there and here I am now.
  2. Son, I know you were a heck of an athlete. I couldn't help but smile after you did that Ric Flair strut on Roan Mountain last year. I created a lot of hype last year didn't I ? Whooooooooooo!!
  3. I can't believe anyone would think this would be a ball game. This would only be a chance for Hampton to rest their starters in the second half.
  4. If this is the case, then its trully sad, because it means the leadership cares very little for the feelings and well-being of others, especially the kids. Elizabethton getting embarrassed in football and basketball should not happen with the numbers and quality people getting involved. It sounds to me like power hunger and greed have corrupted the system. Maybe Dr. Roper knew what he was doing when he removed Ed as principal. I don't know. Just an outsider observing. NOW, look at what is happening. Unbelievable.
  5. I do respect kids that play hard to the whistle blow. I do not respect those who lay back and wait for a running back to be stood up and then come in and slam the player to the ground to try and injure him. Thats what happened. There are too many witnesses to it. As for giving up on my team. I was there last year when the eagles blanked us. I was there when Jellico came back and beat us and I was there to watch Unaka hammer us for the first time in 25 years. I've been around Cloudland football for over 17 years and sure, I'm not accustomed to losing. But just because I don't get on here and hollar and scream whooooo!! every breath don't mean Ive given up on the Landers. It just means that I'm married now and my wife does not like Ric Flair. P.S. Most of Roan Mt. did quit showing up. Seriously, you would not believe the empty parking available now at Orr Field. NO, they still haven't come back.
  6. Sounds like you guys are echoing my sentiments of a couple of weeks ago. If you can walk then you can play. That used to be the philosophy at Cloudland. I've talked to fans that have watched Unaka this year, and they can't believe that Unaka has tougher kids than Cloudland. I'm sorry, but kids that love the game of football know they only have 4 years to do it and they will play at all costs. Whats even worse is the girls in the community are calling the players wimps. Whats it going to take to light a fire under these guys?
  7. Its hard to respect anybody that's just out to hurt somebody. Its on film and the people in the stands can't deny the fact that it was not necessary to drive another players head into the ground after the whistle had blown. An all-state player shows class and plays for the love of the game and is team oriented. The reason Cosby cannot win on a consistent basis is they can't handle success and share it as a community. Last year the Eagles fans were threatening each other on here every week. A community that is going to act like barbarians don't need to represent our state as a champion. Lowe, I wish you the best of luck in college. My best advice to you is to forget about Cosby, because they are not going anywhere soon.
  8. Those are different sports. I do think the whole city of Elizabethton is political as a whole. They lied to Ned Smith about the basketball coach job. Its just not a trust worthy place or a place worthy of a gold ball. Its just like pujo said, its a heart problem.
  9. I agree. Hampton would not beat South. I don't think it would even be close. They will have their hands full with Erwin. That is who they play, not South.
  10. Lowe kid, the games over. You can't beat Cloudland or Hampton. Time to move on. Grooms will not be all-state.
  11. Hampton 28 Unicoi 14 Cloudland 30 Chuckey-Doak 12 West Greene 13 Unaka 12 Please!!!! let it happen
  12. Does anyone know the status of Tipton or Clawson. Heard both sustained concussions at the hands of Grooms.
  13. I agree. Lets talk football. This ain't Dr. Phil.
  14. I totally agree. Its easier for our mountain boys because we know where we come from and have to work hard to have anything good. When Elizabethton quits making it so easy for their boys, humble themselves and pick up the drive that our small mountain communities have, the wins will return. Until then, things will not change. Politics will continue to rule and junior will keep getting petted at home and told how great he is.
  15. Hampton's fans can be the team's worst enemy. These 56-0 blowout predictions put the team in a position to where they have a bullseye on their chest. It happened two years ago when they predicted they would blow Cloudland out of the water on their home field and it wound up being a nail biter. It happened when everyone including myself predicted that Hampton would march into Oneida and man-handle the Indians. I'm starting to learn this "respect your opponent" type stuff because I'm really tired of it coming back to bite me. Other teams will be incited by a domiant team's arrogance and they will bring their A game. I would rather make it as easy on Hampton as possible and like ole J.C. says, "We might get our butt kicked". The underdog has the advantage in some cases and I'm going to say that Hampton will escape Unicoi Co. 28-14.
  16. Sports TV, why don't you just give Hampton the credit they deserve. The Johnson Co. team that Hampton beat would beat Elizabethton every week this season. And I'm sorry if the behavior of teenagers annoys you. If you don't want to hear it, then you'll probably have to stay home because nothings going to change.
  17. I'm loving every minute of what's happened the last several weeks. This is great!
  18. Maybe I don't need to go to the Med Center after all! Its amazing that you gave us our own city and then we took over yours too! Seriously, how does it make you feel to know that since 2000, the best teams in the county have been the smaller 1-A schools. Thats what I thought.
  19. I agree with the Hampton 35 Unicoi 14 score. Hampton will not be comfortable until the 4th quarter. Erwin is a hostile place and the Devils are playing with pride these days. As for matching up with South, fans of the Alliance don't need to worry about matching up with teams they don't play.
  20. Discipline. That is why Cosby will never be able to put together a winning tradition. There may be a few bad apples, but Cloudland and the Roan Mt. community pride themselves on being first class. Not only have we put together the most special sports ekstravaganza in the area but we do everything first class. Its just like the King told Unaka, you may get us one year, but we are the program that everyone maps there future by. The wins will continue.
  21. I always pull for the Creekers opponents. I'm going to say West Greene picks up their first win of the season, 13-12.
  22. I look for this to be a defensive battle from the get-go. The Black Knights defense is stouter than West Greene's. I also think our Highlanders have been playing with heart on the defensive front as well. Our boys have a few more weapons on offense and I think we will prevail 30-12.
  23. Wow! North Greene must really be down this year.
  24. They are physical on defense. Much more physical than Elizabethton, but they have very few offensive playmakers. If Avery and Cloudland played right now, it would be much closer. I predict for Johnson Co. to beat them by at least 10 points.
  25. Good job by both Highlanders and Bulldogs. We must keep the Alliance at 1 and 2 in this region. The tough defense of Unaka must be dealt with. The Highlanders must deal with Jellico and I think they will in convincing fashion. The hard work is paying off. Now we look to Chuckey Doak to go for the 3rd win on the season.
