  1. Glad to see you feeling better. I hope you've healed well. Now, I agree that South isn't going to be a power year in and year out. South has had some very good basketball teams in the past though. Maybe you've forgotten. You are correct, more times than not, D-B and SH are going to be the teams to beat. I'm not expecting to win the Big 8 every year. I do however expect improvement from seaons start to finish. That never happens though. One question and I'll drop the subject, who was tabbed as preseason favorites by every coach in the Big 8? If Morgan had South's team this year, they would have won the Big 8. County schools occasionally come up big in local play . Central won district in '06 and Boone goes for same tonight.I will agree though that no local school including D-B or Science Hill will be a powerhouse in basketball anymore. Memphis and Knoxville have locked it down. South can however become a local powerhouse just like East has when they are reclassified in 2A. Scott, please fill me in on some of the code talk for coaching changes etmf is referring to. I didn't realize such code existed. CD, if me or etmf told you, we'd have to shoot you! But, I might be bribed into it with 20 or so Shack hot wings!
  2. Bill, are you saying we should hire Mrs Fowler? no Scott , she coaching swimming won the state . she is over with basketball. i'm saying you better keep what you've got ,you could end up a L.Kiffen I hear you. How are you feeling these days? All healed up?
  3. Bill, are you saying we should hire Mrs Fowler?
  4. They have been to the substate a few times but to my knowledge they've never been to the finals. Hey Volmanwho lools like the team to beat in the clinch mt. conf. Gotta give the edge to Slant. They return all 5 starters.

  7. jhilts, i respect your opinion. I understand your passion for Rebel sports in general. I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong. But, I'll believe it when I see it. This years team was Coach P's best shot in some time. They should have won the Big 8. Yet, we struggled to go .500 and lose in the first round of the district.............
  8. Well, I do agree with you on most of this, except the JV does now have a good program and Coach in Hutson. I know who you are, and I respect your ball knowledge, so I'm not trying to be offensive. Your point (toward the Varsity) is well taken. Coach P is a fine man. You might question his game plan but you can't question his integrity as a man. I'm not sure it's in him (coaching style) to get emotional and get "pumped up" for a game, but young men enjoy the emotional highs and want that kind of coaching. It just makes it more fun and I believe it speeds the bonding process between players and coaches. I'm not an insider at South who has any say so in who coaches what, but it sure would be alot of fun to see our coaches and players jumping up and down and acting like they are having fun. We are not just talking about the boys program either. Mr.Harvey (principle) has been quoted as saying, "this is an academic school" (when asked about coaching---as a reason for not making some coaching changes). My question is -------what's wrong with having a good basketball team and academics. Why do we have to draw a line between those?? Hey, have a good day!!!! Agreed. Terry is the best coach on the staff. And Coach P is indeed a fine man.
  9. I know you are new to the boards 2Rebels and I hate to be down on anything associated with Sullivan South athletics, but I've been saying it for years. This years seniors won the conference as freshmen. They were predicted to win the conference this year. I knew from the beginning it wasn't going to happen. No way they should have finished worse than 2nd in the Big 8 this year even with BD's injury. This conference is as weak as I've seen it in many years. Our boys basketball program gets progressively worse after their freshmen year. They are always successful during their middle school years and usually very competitive their freshman season. Then, that's it. No more improvement. I don't see this changing any time soon with the current staff.
  10. I hate to say it, but it's not going to get better.................
  11. Just as predicted. 4th in the Big 8?? C'mon man!!
  12. No doubt Jack. But, having Patrick and Swafford for 3 years would trump this by 10 fold.
  13. Camion was in a tough situation CD. He really had no choice in the matter.
  14. The Tribe should be well-acquainted with Camien Patrick. Our Kingsport boys will be challenged to slow him down. Speed, size, and athleticism is the trifecta for a football player. Yes, homecoming for Camion. Good kid. Could you imagine the Indians with Patrick and Swafford in the backfield together??
  15. Comp, you know and trust me, so believe me when I say, don't waste your time with BJ. He "knows" a lot. Then claims to get his info from sources at the Big E. He hates HJ and AR with a passion but only knows HJ through hear say?? Get real and move on BJ.
  16. As I see it, the best running back next year is going to be a sophomore. I know of one kid that has "some" discipline issues. He has "talked" of going to other schools. He's a good kid, I hope he follows the strong discipline that is on the way and MUCH NEEDED in my opinion not just for him, but the whole team. If he goes, I wish him well, but staying would be in his best interest, especially if he has any aspirations of playing college ball. And all the strong defensive players are graduating. Not to say there is not some good ones left. No one in my opinion coming up can't easily be replaced. Just my overview and opinion of what is going on with the Science Hill football program. You are correct. The best RB at the Hill next season will be a sophomore. If that group of kids will listen and buy into Stacy's system, the sky is the limit. If not, it'll be more of the same and Stacy will be frustrated in 3 years. My bet is, the kids will follow his lead and success is just around the corner.
  17. Henry, I agree with you 100%. You know I'm a South fan. Always have been, always will be. We have some great kids at our school. We have some, like any other school, that can be just plain ignorant sometimes. I was embarassed as were some of the other "old timers" when this happened. I spoke to a few of them and tried to explain what an embarassment this was to our fine school. Did they listen? I hope so. Did they understand? I hope so. Will it happen again? I hope not. But, to all that were offended by this act of stupidity, I apologize on behalf of the Rebel Nation.
  18. Pudding, it pains me to say it, but you my friend, are 100% correct.
  19. Funny, I heard it was....................Mike Turner!
  20. One of our Coaches came over and talked with me last night and said that if Science Hill's AD is'nt a liar...the job is Stacy's.And he is taking the Nelsons and Sam Haynie.Haynie will be doing a computer class...if he decides to go.This Coach said this came straight from Stacy's mouth. He also said if Haynie goes our next Coach would be Hunter Jordan. So either way lets get this over with. Although I do believe that this is a done deal, let me warn that everything you hear Turner say does not come to fruition. I expect an announcement within the next few days. But, Turner has fooled me before so...........
  21. From what I heard that was his first game back and he wasn't up to par like he was the following weeks. It may very well be that Clark can outcoach Carter day and night. This year had so many ups and downs tho, I'm not ready to call that one way or another. The Boone team beat TN High and DB, which beat South, which beat Boone, but who couldn't beat TN High. Either all the teams are close and the games could go one way or another, or you really see who knows how to coach against who. Well if your trying to some how say that Stacy is as good or better than Graham let me set the record straight. Stacy has never beat Graham in a game of high school football. Stacy couldn't take three of South's "best team's ever" and get a single win over Graham. Stacy couldn't take upper east tn.'s best quarterback in three decades and one of his "best teams ever" and beat Graham. Lost that famous game 44-0. Couldn't come close to beating Graham in 2009 with Graham having his worst team ever and Stacy having one of his "best teams ever". That game was over at halftime. Graham Clark has the most wins of any coach in the past 10 years in upper east tn. I could go on but I think I made my point. Stacy Carter is a good guy a very good coach by upper east tn. standards but lets not compair him to Graham Clark just yet. Good to see you back on the D-B wagon Jack! I'm sure Graham appreciates your "support".
  22. This is why Stacy will never coach at Science Hill, nor Rebel Ralph, nor Rebel Scott. The African American players have indicated they will NOT play for these Rebels. They didn't play for Smith either! Your chops have been busted!
  23. I think we will see football at ETSU again one day. I think it's several years down the road though. As the one poster said, their is the Friends of Buc Football group that meets regularly, but there's just not much coming from it right now. I think after Stanton is gone, we'll begin to see some progress. It's a shame really.
  24. Don't say that! As soon as you do, that QB from Central will decide to transfer to South and pick us apart! I'll admit that at this moment in time, things look good for Boone, just a bit better than South, but from also some of the other postings...that taking for granted thing won't get it done in Gray. We have to get past that South hurddle this year, and that's a big one from the Boone point of view. You and TN High will be right in there with us, fighting it out for the top spot in 5A I have no doubt about that. Any other rumors about that coaching spot, seems a ton of money is flowing into SH...wonder where it has been all these years? You can leave Tn High out of the equation for the next few years I think. They are going to see a tremendous drop off. They MIGHT have one more run in them next year, but after that, it's slim pickings in Bristol for at least 3-5 years. As for the SH job, I won't speculate because of what happened last time. They are a wild card.
  25. Good point Jack! What would I do without you? You are like a well trained puppy. Everytime I post, you come running.
