  1. PG- DeShaud Johnson-TN High SG- Phil Weatherford-Central SF- Omar Wattad-Science Hill PF- Tyler Harmon-TN High C- Ashworth or Powell-Sullivan South With two penetraters (Johnson & Wattad) in combination with a pure shooter (Weatherford) all that’s left to do is clean the boards.
  2. Darius was VERY impressive … when he was running the ball that is. When the ball wasn’t going to him he would stand straight up from his stance and watch the play. Someone needs to let that young man know that scouts don’t look at “highlight films” any more … they look at game film. Very strong runner but doesn’t have tailback speed. But one thing is for certain … if your going try to bring him down you better bring the TREATED WOOD because as we saw tonight anything less will just bounce off!!! The other backs ran hard and were also fairly effective especially (#21). Mo-West should fair well against South but will struggle against Maryville. The Maryville coaching staff scout opponents VERY well and will most likely shut down a one sided O like West possesses. GOOD GAME MO-WEST!!! GREAT SEASON VIKINGS!!!!
  3. Believe me …. If all where seniors …. We will STILL be good to go next year!!! At this point GOOD program, GOOD coaching, and getting better game after game!!!! One of these days the poles will recognize who gets is done year after year when it counts …. Sullivan East, Sullivan South, DB, NO … COACH STUBBS’ VIKINGS!!!! Stubbs NET coach of the year!!!! Any doubters need to tune in to next year.
  4. Great post NATION!!!!!! It seems they have to see for themselves.
  5. You’re right Wiz. We’ll meet again gridcoach! Good luck to the Tribe … you guys have a distinguished program from the band to the team.
  6. Shhhhhh … everybody be quiet the MR FOOTBALL himself has just spoken! You know every once in a while a clown like you gets on and decides that he’s going to “put me in my place”. And every time I have to end up writing that same old “just my opinion” speech, but I’m not even going to waist my time on you. If I’m not mistaken it wasn’t until the latter part of the game that SH finally put a period on the game against THS. 35-21 is a decisive win (although its not the 49-14 spanking you received last year) I did say that SH was the better team that night … but it certainly isn’t anything to jump up and down about … especially sense THS is only a 4A school (not an excuse just a fact). Win a conference game or any game in your division and then you can run your mouth. By the way your radio announcers at the THS SH game stated that Joslin ran a 4.3 forty I didn’t just make it up. In my opinion he’s just not that fast. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t even the fastest on the team. And where were the dynamic duo last week … COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN!!! But one thing is for sure Joslin IS a game breaker and even I can’t take that away from him. In closing Id like to say that neither one of us have anything to show DB this year (same team a last year minus a couple of athletes). With THS it’s a proven fact … but don’t worry your time is comin!!! By the way ... when is the last time Science Hill beat DB. Remember gridcoach … this is coacht not ESPN!!!!
  7. To go into a game without a key player is much different than losing one or in the case of the JC game two key players during the flow of the game. That not only affects the game plan but the mental attitude of the entire team sometimes. The bottom line is that JC was the better team that night and I’m not trying to make excuses. But I have to tell you … if the Vikings win tonight that would almost negate the embarrassing loss to JC. I don’t think they have what it takes to tackle the Indians. The Shoun to Joslin thing is overrated. 4.3 forty … please.
  8. It time to go!!!! Good luck to both teams … and everybody pray with me NOW for an injury free game!
  9. It was in the actual Bristol paper as a side note. It wasn't in the storey on the website.
  10. Johnson’s injury along with a big breakdown at left cornerback is the only reason Science Hill was able run up 35 point and beat the Vikings. Tonight Johnson is back and the secondary has a few tricks up their sleeves for those who have watched film and think they’ve found a weakness. Look for some bump and run man coverage along with several new zone cover schemes that involve the linebackers. This is the first game this year that all three playmakers have been healthy at the same time (Shaw, Johnson, and Bell). More than I think the Indians can contain. All this negativity and doubt about the Vikings will surely fuel their fire ... Kinda like it did when EVERYBODY picked them as big underdogs against Elizabethton this year!!! Remember that?? Vikings 21 DB 10
  11. Congrats to the Cyclones!!! Feels good don’t it!!
  12. IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN NORTH EAST TENNESSEE!!!!!
  13. The Hilltoppers pulled our pants down!!!!! What cha goanna do Stubbs?????????
  14. What ever Glee??! By the way your freshman team looked good last night. The two RBs on the freshman team (#25 and #20) should start varsity for the Cyclones. Very fast and they both run the ball very hard!! Good size up front also.
  15. He may not start but he will play.
  16. Come on 3 … don’t be a hater.
  17. Listening to the players yesterday evening on the radio they sound pumped and confident going into tomorrow nights game. Several of the linemen used the phrase “come out and hit them in the mouth right off the bat” when they were asked about the game against the Hilltoppers.
  18. The Vikings could have easily put up 35 point or more on Elizabethton but Coach Stubs showed a lot of class and played very conservative the entire second half. If I were in charge I would have poured it on just for people like you (my motto is “Leave no doubt”)! Of course I would also go for it every time on fourth down. I don’t understand why people keep calling Virginia High a “mediocre team”. They dominated John Battle and routed them 45-9 this past week. I would even wager to say that they would finish an easy 3rd in the MLC (and I’m being generous to South because I saw the game against Central last night on TV and I’m NOT IMPRESSED at all)!!!! Both Science Hill and THS played Elizabethton under very similar circumstances. It was their second game of the year, and they both went into the game with a convincing win under their belt. The difference was Elizabethton was picked over THS and the game was the conference opener which in my book made it a more important win. The Hilltoppers struggled with Betsy having to go into overtime and the Vikings made easy work of the Cyclones. Of course each match up poses a different set of circumstances but I will have to put the Vikings on top in this one. Vikings 27 Hilltoppers 10
  19. You mean sort of how the Hilltoppers showed Elizabethton 2 weeks ago?? Very impressive!!!
  20. They may pull one out against Unicoi Co but that’s about it!
  21. I’d like to say congrads to the Vikings. Great execution on O and the defense smothered what little offence Betsy had. I commend coach Stubs and his staff. It’s obvious that he took more than just the embarisment of getting stomped away from Maryville last year. He and the other coaches have worked hard from the time the bus pulled back up to the field house that morning and he has been determined to raise the bar for the Viking football program AND IT SHOWS!!!! As a fan I can look at a team and tell weather they are well coached or just blessed with a multitude of talent. The Vikings do have talent but last night it was obvious to me that they had been well groomed for this game! Coach Stubs showed a lot of class by playing very conservative in the second half. The Vikings could have EASILY run the score up to 35 or 40 points. I WON’T EVEN GET INTO THE OFFICIATING!! The Cyclones only had 50 yards more in TOTAL O than the Vikings were charged in penalties! That’s two years in a row the officials suited up in Orange and Black. Say what you want but if you were at the game or even if you just listened to Elizabethton’s own radio station AM 1200 you know what I’m talking about. You better make sure you get that same crew for the South game. We may not win the state championship this year but the Vikings have already shattered a lot of doubt and proven themselves to be one of the top contenders in the MLC! That brings me to the BRISTOL HERALD COURIER. What is their problem!!!! For two weeks straight the BRISTOL HERALD has picked the Vikings to be on the loosing end. This week they even said that the Cyclones were “loaded with talent” and they listed a Viking freshman player (Adam Tabor) who was injured in the freshman practice as a factor in last nights game. They even had one of their clown reporters at the practice at the time it happened. Maybe they should ask which is the freshman practice and which is varsity and they could save themselves from making another ridiculous prediction. Next I guess East will be a heavy favorite over the Vikings in the BRISTOL HERALD!!!! By the way Congrads to the Patriots! No surprise to me.
  22. Sorry you take offence to some of my posts GLEE … I don’t believe in pouring a lot of sugar over my words (as you obviously do). I simply call it as I see it … right or wrong!! You know what they say about opinions … well that’s what coachT is mostly about. None of us are getting paid and most of us don’t have a clue of what we’re talking about. By the way, why did you recant your “Have a little class lady” statement. That’s right I saw it! That was real classy and quite original. That’s probably why you withdrew the post. As far as the game goes … speed and depth in the skilled positions will a big factor in the Vikings win tonight. Special teams and the kicking game will be the rest. But if the Vikings O line is able to step it up another notch look for the scoreboard to light up like it did last year! I’ll stick to my prediction, Vikings 24 Cyclones 13
