  1. I would just about have to say that everyone on that list would have played at Greeneville this year. Dunbar or French might not have been at Quarterback, but I bet you Laws would have run in the backfield , Wykle and Wright would have played at reciever. And it would have been fun to have watched them in addition to the GHS crew.
  2. West Greene has had some real talent coming in from the feeder system in the last few years. McDonald and Glenwood have provided them with something to work with. I am not sure where their big men came in from but with some of the talent they have if they begin to play together as a team and if they have worked hard over the summer as they say, they very well could be a team that could contend for some good postseason play. Hopefully the injuries won't get them. And as far as the Landair Classic, well are they over their heads? Maybe but we will see and it will be a good measuring stick for how far they have come. Good Luck Buffs!
  3. Wow Barb you have brought to my attention something I did not know. I figured that DB had a lot more students than Science Hill for some reason. Are these figures right? I am just asking because I really don't know. I didn't figure Volunteer to have 1,100 either but that is just from me not knowing I suppose.
  4. There is a lot of conflict and high emotions when the county schools play Greeneville. South Greene had a very very good team last year and gave the Devils all they wanted and then some. Seems to me that most of the pressure in a game of that nature is on Greeneville because they are as some would say supposed to beat a smaller county school. Basketball is very different in the fact that just because a school is smaller than another they may have six or seven kids that can really play the game of basketball. Take Sullivan Central last year not as big as some of the Big 9 schools but they were pretty darn good. I for one hate to see these games end because they brought out a lot of interest and usually packed the house. I don't know if they bring any more emotion than say a South Greene - Unicoi County girls game from a few years back, or say a South Greene - Chuckey Doak boys game from a more recent time would bring but I suppose it is a thing of the past. Good luck to all the Greene County teams as well as Greeneville, it would be nice to see them all have a good season.
  5. South Greene - Jordan Laws, Marc Wright West Greene - Jordan Ward Chuckey-Doak - Josh Wykle, Brock Dunbar, Alan Cutshall North Greene - Andrew French Just my opinion. I am sure there are some others that are pretty good athletes also but these are just a few that kind of stand out to me.
  6. Heck I would take either one of them and be pretty happy about it. I watched Wiggins every game last year and he can play. I watched Wattad play a few times a year and he is impressive as well to say the least. When you beat Science Hill you have got to either slow Wattad down or let him score and try to keep the others from scoring. Last year it was kind of the same thing with Wiggins either try and stop him or try to keep the others from beating you. I dont think Wiggins will have quite the supporting cast that he had last year but I sure look forward to watching him play again. Good luck to Omar when he goes to Gtown, it would be nice to see him do good up there. Even if he is from Science Hill he also represents East Tennessee and it would be good to see him be impressive there.
  7. Seems like there must have been more than a little excitement on the hill last night. Game was called near the end of the 3rd quarter. The radio station seemed to be saying that a fight broke out but with no ejections. (They never really said it was a fight but that is the impression that was given). I hate that the civil war of Greene County football turned out that way. Best of luck to the Rebels in the playoffs.
  8. I will say this, I came on here giving my opinion, I did not give any excuses for losing the game, I did say that if not for a early mistake and a late mistake who knows what might have happened. I did not trash East, I said I felt the best team won the game and I also said that I felt that East would need a better passing game to go far into the playoffs. I also said that was my opinion, now I know Ramsey is good and has a good arm, (I have seen him catch in baseball), I believe they probably had an off night and I was simply stating that I was proud of Greeneville for the effort they gave, then this Stush dude comes on and dogs what I said because he thought I was a Volunteer (HS fan) and I was talking about HIS canes. I have nothing against East and hope they do well but I did not post that to start anything with any of you. So if any East fans (-1) took it wrong I apologize.
  9. You mean they are not going to play Crockett Thursday? I was planning on going but since the season is over.....................lol
  10. Cuz, so what does that mean? They move the game to the next day or the second place team would have to go on the road or what? It is a different situation so I really was wondering what happens. Thanks for the input.
  11. # 1 Where is my Dude? # 2 I was being complimentary of YOUR Canes # 3 Yeah your right! As for the dust the field was wet the other night in case you missed it.
  12. Some of you guys are amazing............all this trash talking and putting each other down when actually on Friday night Greeneville played pretty good, East did not play as well as they have been the last few weeks and I would like to think Greeneville had some part in that. However I feel that the best team won the game, I did not see the punch but someone did, the pass interference was a pass interference, and yeah I am sure there were some missed calls but I will bet if you watch the film there were some on both sides of the ball. Usually that is the way it goes whether you are playing in Greeneville, Kingsport, Morristown, OR Maryville. The official on Friday night did not all come from Greeneville you know guys. Enough of that already, good luck to East in the playoffs. How does it work if you guys beat Boone and both East and West have home field advantage in the playoffs? Does West have first choice since they have been there more often or what?
  13. Dude before you get all messed up jumping on someone here you need to know what you are talking about! First do you see the Vols symbol? That is the volunteers I am a fan of. In my statement it looks pretty obvious that I have seen Greeneville play a lot. I was making a statement about the game I saw last night and my statement was really none of your concern. I was simply stating how I felt about the game and how I felt East would need a passing game to go far into the playoffs. If it offended anyone from East I apologize that was not the intention of the post, I was simply saying I was proud of the Devil team for the effort last night.
  14. Through much adversity this week, starting QB out, backup QB out, getting blasted last week at West, the GHS boys could have folded the tents and quit early. However they came out and played with passion and desire. Undersized and playing a team with about three times as many players I think the boys in Green did themselves proud last night. Actually it was one of the better games they had played this year. With the exception of a couple of mistakes they very easily could have won this game. Sure they didn't and moral victories really mean nothing........usually.........however last night I think that this moral victory did much more than look good. Trevon keep your head up you did a fantastic job last night not playing hardly any at QB this season except in some JV games. Having Danny Bannach, and Joel Brimer back in the lineup sure helped a lot. Good to see you back in there old 88! I for one am proud of the effort last night and I appreciate the work and dedication you boys have given. As for East good luck, Dockery is for real and Moshier was hard to stop but if they are to do anything much in the playoffs they better find some passing game to go with their running. Good luck East and GHS lets go out and win one next week!
  15. First half Cherokee just flat out put it to Greeneville. Second half big turnover and Cherokee is about to go up 26 to 0. Another big turnover and Epley takes it about 102 yards to the house. Big swing in momentum and then Greeneville scores again makes a stop has the ball and bang completed pass, fumble and another big momentum swing. Cherokee really dominated the game and the score is a little misleading. I am very proud of the devils for not giving up and fighting hard. As for the clock deal, I have a question, if Cherokee gets three false starts in a row and the clock starts they can run off 1:30 without ever snapping the ball??? Not just because it was against Greeneville but I don't see that as being a good rule.
  16. Stewart had a really nice run and did some really nice blocking in the game against South Carolina last night. They talked very highly of him. Great to see that.
  17. It is great to see some local (East Tennessee talent) perform on a national stage. BW has really been impressive thus far. With the suspension of Mitchell at South Carolina maybe Thompson will get some playing time as well. It is really good to hear Alcoa, Maryville, Central or any East Tennessee name come up when watching big time college football.
  18. Neil's body was found this evening about 100 yards from the accident site. Please remember this family!
  19. The news reports that Former South Greene High School football and girls basketball coach Larry Neil Ricker was in a boating accident . The report reads as follows: "The search continues for one of three men involved in a boating accident on Cherokee Lake near Russellville overnight which involved a local educator and his son. The accident occured shortly after 12:30 A.M. Reportedly Larry Neil Ricker and his son were participating in a bass fishing tournament. Their boat apparently struck another boat pulling a disabled boat. Larry Ricker and the operator of the other boat were flown to the UT Medical Center with critical injuries. Two others on the boat which was struck were treated at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Another passenger was not injured. A Morristown rescue squad said this afternoon that the younger Ricker (Neil) had not been located. Divers with sonar equipment was being used in the recovery efforts. Larry Ricker is a teacher at Camp Creek Elementary following a lengthy and successful coaching career at South Greene. Neil Ricker is a South Greene graduate. " Neil had also helped Coach the South Greene football team even after his father had not been involved with the team. Larry Neil is very well respected and admired as a coach an educator and as a friend. Neil is one of the nicest young men you would ever want to meet. Everyone please say a prayer for the Ricker family. I know that it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  20. Jefferson County plays Morristown West for the championship. Jeff County has to beat West twice. Last night Drew Story pitched for Jefferson County against Morristown East and threw a very good complete game for a 6-1 victory.

Who won the East-West games last night? I have not seen or heard the results yet. Or was it last night? I heard they were supposed to play then?
  22. As of last report the district tourney is going to be played at Tusculum College. There has been ongoing discussion about this from the high school coach and the college coaches and with the athletic director. Unless something changes between now and then that is the plan from what I understand. Wow how about East with a big win over Jefferson County last night? I know that Jefferson County may have been looking a bit ahead to the double header with West on Tuesday but still you have to take care of business at hand first. West may have been looking a little ahead as well, Greeneville gave them all they wanted last night in losing 3-1. Tuesday looks to be a big day in the IMAC.

East has some very good young talent. Their sophomore group is extremely talented. I think they may have a few good years ahead of them. I believe they may turn a couple of heads before the season is done.
  24. Okay everyone take a deep breath, take a step back and let the kids play ball. I for one don't think we need to badmouth each other on here. It is a site where opinions can be stated and yours might be right and mine might be wrong but as they say it is just an opinion. As for the Greeneville they sure are not playing really good ball right now but they do have a few players and are starting a couple of freshman and should improve as the season rolls along. (I sure hope so anyway). I have not seen Jeff Co. play yet but I know West is going to be very solid and East put a hurting on us the other night. Good luck to all the teams and lets all hope for some nice warm weather to start rolling in here the next few days.
