I think you are wrong peabody10. Coach Sisco coached most of the summer before resigning. The new guy was hired right before school started. Trenton should finish somewhere around 5th or 6th.

I was talking to one of the coaches involved in one of the scenerios below, asking him how he was enjoying his new job. He told me, " I guess i am not very good at what I do, but if I could do anything else, i would be doing it" To all the coaches out there, I want your opinions on if it is worth it anymore? Would you do it again if you were starting over? Going to give some general points and others I know about if you want to add, feel free. * Obion County mess - current and past - has been total chaos. * Another W Tn coach who has been through total heck at his current school despite taking them further than they have ever been finishing in the finals last year. He was one of the regular topics on here the past 2 years. * Another W Tn coach takes a team to the sectional, further than the school had ever been, won 20-25 game, had nothing returning the next year, which everyone knew. His own principal and athletic director told me that at the start of the year, yet he is fired at the end of the season, one in which showed improvement. And that was one nice guy. * A current very successful young coach has a girl walk out on him either after a game or at halftime, which all assumed she quit. She later rethought her position and wanted to come back, coach balked but said she could with stipulations: running, etc. Nope, she has to come back he is told by administation. Then was talked to again wanting to know why she wasnt playing more * Another coach doesnt want 3 school board members sons, grandson in the program so they cut his supplement and when he was still going to stay, circulated rumors damaging to his reputation, basically forcing him to leave. * Another coach is forced to apologize to cheerleaders, cheerleaders because he told them he didnt appreciate inappropriate behavior that they were doing towards other cheerleaders at a game. * Constant harassment from parents. Do you ever feel you have to explain everything you say, do, decision you make, not even talking about who you play, why, how much, the strategy used, uniform colors, lack of backbone by administration, low pay, and low and behold, try disciplining individuals or the team. Maybe it is just me but I see things alot worse than 15 years ago. Kids, especially parents, weaker administators, less support at games. Maybe I just needed to vent and I know I have gotten too negative. Wondering if I am the only one out there. Thanks.

No explanations? What is your position, or should I say deposition?

I probably shouldnt be sharing this but a very qualified coach was offered but declined. He would have been interested if it was the boys coaching position. I still think it will come open, but I think he does a very good job. It just doesn't seem to be a good fit for some reason.

None of my business but kids should never be on a hiring committee. That is what is wrong with alot of things in this world, letting the inmates run the prison. By the way, the committee should not have a difficult time. To my understanding only 2 people had applied, neither from nearby.

Just wanted to congratulate Clint and Peabody players for playing through all the adversity and finishing on a great note. Thought there would be a few apologies on here for the way some talked about the coach/program.

I am not going to say there isn't ANY talent at OC but I have seen their middle schools, jv, and high school teams the past 3-5 seasons and I didn't see many kids that could start on many other teams in their district. Not that they are bad but not the caliber of Westview, UC, Dyer Co, Crockett Co. etc the past few years.I wish the best to whatever sucker takes this job but the problem is not and has not been coaching. It is funny how everyone runs down the coaching, administration, etc. but talent usually prevails and I don't see a whole lot. And the comment about it being undisciplined, you see what happens when an "established" coach tries to instill discipline. Hey its ok if you want to go on a skiing trip before the district tournament. Yea, go ahead and go hunting and skip practice. We will hold your spot til you get back. OC needs to get their head out of the sand and wake up. It is NOT the coaches at OC who are at fault.

I am not from Greenfield but have watched both these young men since the 7th grade and got to know them a little. They are excellent examples of student-athletes both on and off the court. Congrats to the Greenfield players and Coach Trevathan, and coach Durden on another fine year. These young men still have some basketball left to play in the next few years.

I'm not a Peabody fan but I do consider Clint a friend. Can you not let him enjoy his biggest win ever at Trenton without bashing him and questioning his next pay check? He works extremely hard, is very fundamental and is an excellent educator, and a good person. He took over the program when no one else wanted it. Don't believe me? Ask Harry how many people applied for the job 6 years ago. Now because the talent is back, and has been the last 2-3 years, everyone wants to coach at Trenton. Leave the man alone and let him enjoy his win and run to the state tournament. Support whoever you are for and let those hired to do a job do it. All those who hide behind message boards, cutting down those who put their product out in public display night in and night out ought to get a little more support and appreciation. I know. I've been there, working my butt off trying to figure out a way to win and then have to put up with the crap that follows. We put our livelihood on the floor 30 + times a year in public, depending on 14-18 year olds and 2-3 referees to determine the outcome. One day I'm going to go to my former "fans" worksite and boo, criticize, and post messages on their company's message board, questioning their work ethic and results that depend on many people. Good luck to Clint whatever happens.

Just to have a little fun and not intended to start any rants about any current coaches but what coaches would be considered better fits with different type of athletes or teams? Who could take your team with the players it has now to a different level ?

Not bashing anyone or anything but what has happened to my patriots the past few years? Have only seen them 3 or 4 times the past couple of years and they don't look like the old Henry Co. teams. Where has all the talent gone? Where did the big kid from last year go? What does the future hold? Hate the district they play in cause I dont get to see them very often.

Not sure where you will be leaving from but from West Tn probably the best way is: Go from Dyersburg to I-155 to I-55 toward St. Louis 1st exit on I-55 is Hayti-Kennett Mo Hwy 412 (turn left and go back over I 55) stay on 412 to Kennett. At burger King in Kennett, turn right and follow signs. Not a bad drive

Anyone know how Henry County did last night vs. Union City? Also what is the coaching situation at Henry County?
