  1. I agree with SC3. Coaches definitely make more money, but the pressure is greater also. Speaking in generalities, though, I think GA football is more physical than TN football. That is not true everywhere, but in many of the schools I have witnessed that is the trend. Also, football is more important in GA than here. The communities and administrations back the teams more. Again, that is a generality, and does not encompass all TN schools and GA schools. And all of this is on my observations only. ( I have coached both places).
  2. Does anyone ever do a pick for the whole week? Maybe in an entire class, or region?
  3. Big Country, Marshall County's defense has only given up 3 rushing TDs since the beginning of spring practice. Two of those came last Friday in the pouring rain to a very good McNairy Central team. I am not boasting that the Tigers will have 10 straight shutouts, but I do not think opponents will be able to march up and down the field at will like last year.
  4. Wow, I hope your RB does not have to juke to miss tacklers in the backfield! That does not say much for the O-Line!
  5. I wonder about the Spring Hill-Marshall County game. Both teams seem to be better than they were last year. Spring Hill has the emotional advantage of having their head coach return from fighting overseas, and this being his 1st regular season game back. In addition, he is from Marshall County, so it is another type of homecoming. With that said, MC is playing at home in "The Jungle" and they are coming off beating a very good opponent, McNairy Central, in terrible weather last Friday. What do yall think? Do you think emotion will counter playcalling and physical ability?
  6. Lipscomb-Marshall County
  7. McNairy is big, strong, fast, and disciplined. I think they will have a very good year.
  8. That field is absolutely terrible. When Marshall County played there in the spring, it looked like a rice field becuase of all the standing water. I know it rained the week, but I think they kept watering it to slow us down!
  9. Let me tell you, McNairy was a very tough opponent. They had size, strength, discipline, and intelligence, not to mention speed. The game was in the middle of a quagmire, so it slowed down both teams, but man was it a hard fought game! I think both teams played their hearts out, and I am just glad McNairy is not in our region! Good luck to them. Maybe we'll meet in the playoffs.
  10. Laugh if you want, but Marshall County's d-line is pretty stout.
  11. It is not a secret who MC plays, but everyone kept backing out! MC plays McNairy Central. They will hit the field around 9.
  12. I thought that Creekwood had a really good defense! Giving up 6 scores does not sound good. I thought they were going to be good this year.
  13. The offensive line was patched together, but did a great job. Several guys scored including Donta Hightower, Justin Wright, Cavalla O'Neal, and Justin Braden. I think the score with the number ones in there was 6 - 2 Marshall County. MC did not give up much on the ground. Most of the movement was to #18 of Shelbyville who could play some ball! Good luck to SCHS this year.
  14. For Marshall County, it would be either Justin Braden or Micheal Murphy.
  15. I gotta have some faith in the Marshall County Tigers!
  16. No coach does everything right. There is no doubt that coach Macurry knew how to win football games, but I have heard from a multitude of sources that he was borderline crazy. And that is not from the new staff, but from members of th community. I think Coach Johnson is not well-liked in some aspects, but the kids seem to resond to him, and I expect great things this year for the Tigers.
  17. Big Country, I am not the betting kind, but if I was, it would be that Spring Hill will not score 40 points on MC. I just can't see it. The MC of last year at week zero is not nearly the team MC is now, even before we put the pads on. I have no idea what Spring Hill has, but I know that MC is already in a better place from last year. I can't wait for the opening kickoff!
  18. You don't have any respect for the Marshall County coaching staff, do you? I believe that most of the staff is new. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. Do you dislike the new staff of the old?
  19. Hightower is 6'3", about 220 and runs probably a 4.55. He wil be a junior. He has great instincts. I think he knows he is good, but is not quite sure yet just how good he can be. I hope he comes into his own this year. I do expect that he will rush for over 1500 yards this year.
  20. I think Marshall County will stop the run much better this year. I think we are going to force people to throw it in order to beat us. If we can do just that, our offense will look even better.
  21. Braden is a freshman. He has great quickness, and has good breakaway speed. I think of him as a scat back. Pound on the defense with Hightower, then slip little Braden through the line on a draw, and he is off to the races! He will be good once he builds some confidence.
  22. Marshall will open with Spring Hill in week zero. I am not sure who they will scrimmage yet. The bye is on the 13th this year. I would assume that is to prepare for Lipscomb, which is on the 20th.
  23. It wasn't that even. I watched the film. The field was ridiculous, and we were using our 3rd string QB. The first two did not play. I do not want to take anything away from DC, but it wasn't that close.
  24. It is possible that I was misinformed about how many scores MC had. I just watched the scrimmage film, and Dekalb looked decent. Honestly, the field was in such bad shape I do not know how either team could do anything. That obviously slowed the game way down. I was disappointed in the play of the line of scrimmage--things to work on. Anyway good luck to Dekalb. As for Marshall, we are still a long way from where we want to be.
