  1. This is true ,without him cloudland's spread offense wouldn't work
  2. you have a good point there pujo, and I can see the coaches point of no distractions, but still Its just one of those things thats hard getting used to.you just don't see the intensity in the fans or the players anymore its like youre at an away game at home.I think maybe if there was an off limits area along the fence near the team there wouldn't be as much distractions.I bet you won't see hampton on the opposite side of their field.
  3. I'VE been begging for them to do that since they started it,nobody seems to get into the game when our guys are on the opposite side of the field.I think its useless for us to keep doing it.I think it gives the other team more of an advantage being in front of their fans,if their fans were on the opposite side i could see where it might give us an advantage
  4. I think he means this thread cause I doubt it will stay civil for long, lol.Cloudland 21-14
  5. my schedule shows cosby at hampton tonight, whats the deal?
  6. yeah i guess you are right about your nephew being on the 01 team i dont remember him from that year i guess because he didnt see as much playing time,I'll never forget the night the goal posts came down or the trip to murfreesboro as long as I live,I know what you mean about it not being the same though i really miss those days too.It hasn't been the same since mike left, robbie seems like a good coach but I don't know if we will ever be as dominant as those days only time will tell i guess.Hopefully hampton can bring a gold ball back to carter county I would love to see them win it just as well.
  7. Pujo,I have always respected your football knowledge, but why does it seem to me that you arer trying to downplay the 2001Cloudland team accomplishments, there best team ever in my opinion and yet you are praising the 03 team that lost in the first round of the playoffs,is it because you had a nephew on that team?I hate it that your brother left cloudland but you dont have to degrade cloudland and might i say your brothers best year ever.
  8. I'm glad I didn't go see the worse beating in cloudland history.I hope this serves as a wake up call for us,if we are going to get back on top its going to take alot more work, beating teams like west greene and cosby isn't a good measuring stick as to where we stand.
  9. I'm going for Hampton but i wouldn't be predicting another blowout Unaka has a tough defense all they need is a little offense to make it interesting. Hampton 28-14
  10. sorry to butt in this conversation but I don't think you can blame pujo for promoting hampton because his family is there now, after all there was alot of backstabbing against his brother at cloudland,I bet you those same people would give their right hand to have him back (no offense to the current coach).I think hampton is falling into their own trap when you go into every game expecting to win by a blowout, that same mentality cost cloudland their last shot at a state title in 2003.Heck i know some people who had already made reservations in murfreesboro and look what happened.Hampton just needs to quit reading all the bragging and stuff on here and get focused on each opponent no matter what their record is.I used to live in roan mtn. and I'm also a highlander fan but i still go out and support hampton whenever i get the chance since i live in hampton now so i wouldnt think that pujo would be lying about supporting the team.
  11. CAK has been a power in 1-A since the 03 season and probably will be from now on.
  12. I'm not ready to give up on the landers just yet.I think robbie is trying very hard to make this thing work.I just hope he realizes that a school as small as cloudland is not going to have the athletes year in and year out to run the spread offense.good qb's are rare as hens teeth at cloudland and everyone knows it,thats why no one is buying into his offense.I don't know how much west green is improved but im going to say cloudland wins by two touchdowns. good luck landers
  13. i've been hearing alot of good things about this years team, its going to seem strange watching cloudland run the spread offense.hope to see atleast a 7-3 season
  14. Thats very true wingman, from what ive been hearing everybody wants to be the coach.it looks like a classic case of jealousy to me when in fact i doubt that any of the assistants can do anything better.although im doubtful that what robbie is trying to do will work im willing to give him a chance,it can't get much worse than last season.I doubt that we will ever see the dominance Cloudland had when lunsford was the coach
  15. I'm interested to see how robbie is going to make the spread offense fit in at cloudland,if it works out then he will be a hero ,if not then he better be packing his bags cause nobody wants to see another disastrous year like the last one.I hope it works out but im not putting much faith in it myself.
  16. sounds like we need alot of work in the weight room, hope the kids see the need to work hard.we got pushed around quite a bit this year.
  17. Thats good to know King ,I see your point also.I know we need some changes I was just saying that I hope robbie wasn't planning on abandoning the running game altogether.look at what happened to unaka when they tried it against hampton it looked terrible and they payed the price.I just dont think I could sit through another season like this past one.Im not a football guru like some of the others on here but i know a good offense when i see it.what I meant by that not being cloudland football is because is I'm so used to seeing us play smashmouth football but i do see the need for change.we're not going to win a state championship just by running the ball we really do need to catch up with the rest of the state.I think robbie is going in the right direction with this and I know we have some good talent coming up from the jr. high team and maybe all the pieces will come together.Im behind you all the way i guess its just going to take some patience and some getting used to something different.like you said Im all for good changes.
  18. I agree pujo although its a great offense but I dont think cloudland has enough talent at critical positions nor speed as far as that goes to run a spread offense.I would love to see it work but I just dont see it happening. If you ask me thats not cloudland football ,you got to be able to run as well as pass maybe if they try mixing it up a little more it would be more successful.I think robbie should concentrate more on passing defense and our kicking game thats what has been our downfall all these years it killed us against ezell, boyd buchanon and also against cak.I think we could have had three state championships if not for our inability to defend the pass.im sure someone will disagree but thats my opinion. quote name='pujo' date='Dec 5 2006 - 12:46 PM' post='826289849'] I like what I'm hearing about the kids and coaches working. Thats a step in the right direction. As far as the spread um out and throw it kind of stuff, it really sounds great ,but alot of people don't understand, what do they think Jellico and Grace runs. Some teams are suited for this and some are not,you just have to go with the type offense that best suits the players you have.Harriman had the same style and their inability to run the football costs them two years straight against Hampton. When you get in the red zone, you better have some type of running game.Another thing ,the youth club team I helped with would be perfect for this style of offense, but we don't even try it, Why would we if we are beating everyone 30 to 0 every week. I really doubt any of our youth club teams will be running this kind of stuff, we could probably get good at it because we have alot of good skill people. But our team is the kind of team ,you could run about anything with. Very few 1a schools have the tpye of atheletes it takes to be sucessful with that offence.I hope it works because I wouldn't mind seeing our little team in this style in a few years. My guess is ,it may not look so great at the first and people will be screaming, I hope the coach has thick skin.If people will stand back long enough ,he might just make it work. The one thing I like is, I think he's going to go at it extremely hard. Patience is the word of the day. I guess time will tell.
  19. you can bet your life they have speed i havent seen a private school yet that didn't.i would say there's no one on the team that is slower than a 4.6 forty.when you are playing a private school you can expect skilled players at every position.i would probably compare them to the 2002-03 boyd team,im sure coach lunceford can relate to that, hopefully the hampton coaches will be well prepared for it.
  20. I think if hampton plays their game and doesn't turn the ball over like temple, they have a very good chance of beating fcs.The bulldogs are playing team ball now everyone has stepped it up in the playoffs they just need to step it up a little higher now, this is a different caliber team than they are use to seeing they have skilled players at every position. of course im picking hampton in a close game 28-24
