  1. All I can say about cloudland is Lunsford returns and power is restored I also like Hampton and they have a good coach in Lunsford jr
  2. I haven't posted on here in quite a while, but since my name was brought up I can tell you this I've always supported cloudland even if I don't like the job the coaches have done lately.I'm not a football guru like pujo and king and theres no way I could be a coach either, but I know a good coached team when I see it and we haven't had one since mike left.I don't criticize out of dislike I just tell it as I see it,Robbie is a good guy I just don't think he was ready for coaching and it showed on the field, I don't believe it was lack of talent.I'm really tired of the whole mess that why I don't post on here anymore cause it really doesn't matter what my opinion.it is what it is.I'll still support cloudland and hopefully the new coach who ever it may be will bring some respect back to the program.I miss the good old days.
  3. Pujo,That was one of the things I liked about Mike it didn't matter who's kid it was.Mike didn't do the senority thing if a freshman could do the job better than a senior then the job was his.It didn't matter who the parents were. One of cloudland's best freshman teams sat on the bench for three years while robbie was there.very few saw any playing time til their senior year.
  4. Ford Baker would have been a good one for the job, look what he did with the jr. high when he was there.my guess is Matt Birchfield gets the job.
  5. Who ever takes over they have their work cut out for them, good luck to robbie in the future.I hope the powers that be study real hard on who the replacement will be.we can't afford anymore losing seasons.
  6. yeah king,i hope so.I just hate to see a once great program reduced to shambles.I don't blame the kids for wanting to play some where else it kills me to even watch a game anymore,I know we are better than this.
  7. Everyone knows what the problem is so why don't they fix it.
  8. I think everyone is disgusted with cloudland football pujo, including me.
  9. Yeah Pujo,I could see the possibility of players transferring to a nearby school, which would probably be Hampton of course.I don't see any going to Unaka.
  10. Its going to take alot to rebuild cloudland's program to where it was Pujo, personally I would love to see your brother back there coaching, but I don't see that happening. It would probably take a couple years even for him to rebuild but once he got reestablished I think it would be back to the good old days.I don't see Hampton letting him get away anytime soon though with all the success they have been enjoying.
  11. I think there needs to be some serious changes at Cloudland if it means a new coach then so be it,Robbie has done his best and it just isn't working. Its not from lack of talent from the kids that we aren't winning,I think alot of people have figured that out by now.
  12. ole tiger is just totally classless I've seen nothing but respect from the hampton folks, rockwood was the better team plain and simple, you will get a taste of the private school dominance next week.
  13. Happy Valley is not the team we want to be facing right now coming off 2 losses, this game could have a big effect mentally on the team.if we lose this one they might just give up on the rest of the season,I hope they can turn it around this week I think if they practice hard this week and like 91 lander said cut out all the mental mistakes we could win this one,its going to take a team effort.
  14. yeah it hurts to lose one because of a stupid penalty it was our game until that happened.
  15. Cuda, I do agree with you. I'm not at the practices but I would hope that the coaches are trying to teach proper blocking and tackling. I also don't know what that kid was thinking when he tried to jump on that punt when nobody had touched it. Surely, our boys know more about the rules than that. When we scored that go ahead touchdown, a stupid motion penalty brought it back and that was the nail in the coffin. I will say that Matt Cole and Aaron Tolley are horses. These guys should carry the ball at all times. Morgan cannot help us until he learns to run the ball hard and quit dancing and spinning around. I think Trey should be given the opportunity to take over Morgan's role. And this is the first team I've seen up here in a long time where the running backs are more physical than the offensive line. From what I saw, the O-line just doesn't want to put forth the effort to block. I saw several plays where the line was turning around and watching the RB's dragging defenders down the field. Another thing that needs to be addressed is personal fouls. If I was the coach, any kid that drew a personal foul would sit on the bench the rest of the year. I think it makes the team look bad because the player only thought of himself and not his team. Like I said, I am not at the practices and I don't know what the coaches are trying to instill in the players. I go back many years with 3 of them and I know that they are super good guys and I don't want to say anything on here to cause hard feelings. Losing is something I am not accustomed to. I don't even get beat at tic-tac-toe. I guess I expect everyone else to be warriors too. The pride is gone up here. There is only the memory of the good days where we imposed Highlander willpower on the opposition. In order to get it back, we need to come together as a community and support our guys and let them know we are behind them. Then it comes to the players. Those guys have to be willing to be perfect and to take pride in their work. All that being said, I love Cloudland football and want to get it back to where it was. On a good note I would like to say that I think #18 tyler shell earned himself a starting position last night, what do you think?
  16. Well I think something has to be said about some of cloudlands problems and i think a few will agree with me,In my opinion the no huddle is hurting us more than it is helping,we need to keep our best players in there at all times. Not standing on the sidelines every other play waiting to run in a play call on the next down, added to that you have bad play calling, poor blocking, look at all the holding penalties we had last night, poor tackling, just plain old self destructing is killing us.I know this team is better than that just look at their record from jr. high and that should speak for itself.Alot of our problems fall back on the coach like it or not,I'm sorry for stepping on toes but I call it like I see it,the inexperience shows.we just need to work harder and work out in pads atleast 3 days a week. Not trying to take anything from Unaka, you all won and you deserve the credit, but This team should be undefeated right now we are beating ourselves every game,we need to fix our mental mistakes more than anything.I know we have the talent we just need to learn how to use it.
  17. If Lunsford is the new coach and the Hampton folks let him do his job,no team in this area will be able to keep up with Hampton.
  18. yeah I probably shouldn't put it that way but the rumor I heard was he was being pressured to start running the spread offense and he didn't want to so he just decided to step down, anyways my point is I think ford baker ran a better more balanced offense and he knew who could do the best at each position,I like robbie and all he's a good person but what the heck good is it to run the spread if you can't throw the dang ball, thats just my opinion which don't really mean squat anyways, they are going to do what they want I just miss the highlanders of old.well anyways this thread is about coach lunsford I think they will be making a big mistake if they let him leave.they are a better team with him there
  19. Robbie has done a decent job coaching cloudland but I don't think he can bring them back to being as dominant as they were in this area, not with the offense we are running now.I honestly think they ran off the best coach when ford baker left,no offense to robbie I just think he knew how to get the best out of each kid,and his offense reminded me alot of whats missing at cloudland now.
  20. Thats the way it should be,It just blows my mind how some people want to ruin something thats good for the whole community just because their kid gets yelled at a little or their feelings get hurt. The same thing happened at Cloudland, some parents just think their kid should be babied and not taught some discipline and respect for their coaches.I know the cursing sounds bad but Its not like the kids haven't heard worse at school or at home.It might sound like a bad thing but I think they will know the reason why some coaches are hard on them when they are out in the real world trying to survive on their own.
  21. you don't know what you got til its gone and you're settling for second place.
  22. actually I don't think it was a blatant kick because cloudland hasn't had a good kicker in years.Thats always been a weakness for us.
  23. Yeah its always better to play against good competition but I don't have much confidence in our new spread offense,I honestly don't think that we will have enough quality athletes year in and year out to run that type of offense, especially at the qb position we are not well blessed with quality qb's here at Cloudland.
  24. well as far as traveling goes it would be easier to move up to 2-A but I doubt we could compete there on a regular basis.we don't have a problem with some of the local teams but I doubt we could even win a single playoff game with the level of competition in 2-A
