  1. Do you think you may have jumped to the head high school coaching level too early in your career? By the way I thought a good job at JCS. If you were just coming into JCS as the new head coach would you do anything different than from when you first began?
  2. I do not blame Scott.... The reason being is that I knew another team he had coached. He had a few "players" and had an excellent season! There's no secret to becoming a "player." An individual has to make a major committment to the game on a daily basis! I know of high school players in their district who make 300 threes a day, every day of the year! It takes them about 1 1/2 hours to do this. Unfortunately, the coach assumes the responsibility for the record. Gibson County football hasn't won too many football games the last few years...Now that I think of it. I hope the male athletes at GCHS recognize the urgency of turning things around! I heard the rumor that was brought up about Shane Sisco going to Gibson County.
  3. Congratulations Greenfield on a great year! Hard work and unselfishness pays off! I am proud for John, it was his time!
  4. GCFAN excellent post! You are right on the money. Change may be good for both Scott and the program! I wish him the best!
  5. Your point is well taken! Union City is an excellent academic and athletic institution! Maybe their basketball program needs someone a little more mature. In this business, the only friends a coach has are other coaches or officials. Oops! I forgot the "good guys" at Ken Tenn Sports!

  7. Does Lex Suite actually have the resignation from coaching basketball in writing? Lex said the other day Roy has not put anything down on paper. Coach Grant's daughter is a very good player from Clarksburg I believe. I don't blame him a bit for wanting to follow her basketball career in high school! Roy, we will miss you!
  8. I know Scott is waiting on this job in particular. I don't think you'll hear him moving anywhere until he has the opportunity to go back to Paragould. Great time for Skyler beginning high school. Scott is an excellent high school basketball coach! Good luck to him in his work!

  12. Hey Coach Bowlin, does Bo Booth know anything about Greene County Tech High School in Paragould, Arkansas?
  13. Brian Fisk played like a man with a mission! Montrelle disappeared - mental toughness last night, he could not stay in the game without his hand in someone's back. He wasn't mentally tough enough to counteract the referees, opposing team, or the crowd. Maybe Montrelle has gotten away with too much garbage (reaching, hacking, pushing, etc) during the season. These referees did not know Montrelle. The money men have to step up this time of the year. Brian Fisk did that! Jason Black did that for his team last night!Athletes cannot take from the program more than they put into the program. The program is bigger than any one person! Montrelle has reaped a world of benefits from this great game. Athletes' pay back the game and the program by hard work, humbleness, and being a good ambassador of Dyer County basketball! I truly wish him the best at Middle! It seems I've been a little hard on him, but his education will be paid for! There has to be accountability! He will face this type of quickness every night out. I hope he plays all four years and earns his degree.
  14. Hey wescharge tell the beave Coach Britt deserved the coach of the year. Lost 8 seniors and 18 wins in regular season! If that's not the best coaching job in the district, well then I guess politics wins. Oh by the way beave I saw Wally officiating the game last night. Maybe you can work with him on his assertiveness.

  18. New coach at Columbia Academy? I coached againt Wes May in West Tennessee. Great person and wonderful family, but he will never win!!!! He does not work at it. If Columbia Academy looked at his records they would see that he could not even win in a basketball hotbed, Troy, Obion Central!!!!!!!!!!! That includes both boys and girls basketball teams at Hillcrest. Would you believe he was demoted to the high school. They wanted to get rid of him and bring Billy Kail down to the jr. high to actually teach. I like Wes and consider myself much closer to him than Kail but in all honestly it will surprise me if he ever wins!!!!!!!
  19. I will be working at Martin Westview Girls High School team camp this week. I will be working at the Sharon gym most of this week. Today the camp begins at Sharon at 12:00 and goes until 6:00 Thursday evening. You can come and look me up. Ask the referees or the scorekeeper for goldenbearpride. The phone number at the gym is 456-2332.
  20. What a great break for a nice guy! I have the background in each of the three sports and 12 years of experience. The Lady Yellowjackets need and deserve someone who is willing to commit at least 5-7 years. Continuity has helped young people experience success in football and baseball. That truly is the case for your great boys basketball program! I have two sons who would add to the student population at Greenfield and will be pretty good athletes! Mention me to Hal he will tell you who I am if you want to call me. Later Balla 202 keep me informed
  21. Are you talking about Coach Dilday? He did a really good job. Whose left on your football coaching staff?I'm really interested. Let me know if it was him. Stay in touch Goldenbearpride
  22. Greenfieldfan and zackthomas, I was wondering if you have heard of any frontrunners for the position. I called Mr. Vaughn today and talked briefly expressing my interest. I had a long conversation with Coach Blackman today. I think he would feel comfortable working with me. If you are interested in finding out who I am talk to Hal. Thanks fellas keep me informed. Goldenbearpride
  23. Zackthomas I currently am a head junior high football coach. I also coach girls and boys basketball. I feel like I have the background combination of success in each sport necessary to fill the big void left. There are a lot of good people in Greenfield who I greatly respect. Flint Northcutt, Jeff Crouse, Troy Jones, Tommy McKelvey, Tony Stout, Lou Bethel, Craig Medling, Greg Ursry, Craig Medling are familiar with my work. Hal would be a really good man to work with, as would the whole coaching staff. Stay in touch zackthomas
  24. I would be interested in talking with someone about the baseball program at Greenfield. I am a former UTM baseball Assistant who has one state tournament appearance as a high school head baseball coach. Our team finished as state runnerups in 1996.
