  1. All the basketball talent leaving Memphis to play their college basketball? They shouldn't have to! The University of Memphis should be considered home!!!!!!!
  2. Would someone share this information with Coach Calipari?
  3. Congrats Coach Stephenson! Isn't Franklin your wife's hometown? Why has Emily decided not to move to Franklin with you?
  4. Covington over Henry County Liberty Tech over Bolton Union City over Memphis Carver Westview over Dresden
  5. SLS, Jarrod Bain is the fastest kid in the school. He will run with any of the Waverly players on the floor. I wished Jarrod would have played football. His physical talent would be impressive on turf!
  6. Add 6'5" Jarrod Bain from Camden Central High School. Quiet, respectful "A" student who is a wonderful role model to young kids who aspire to play the game. When he laces them up its almost as if he goes into that phonebooth and comes out with his uniform on. I say this because he's very mild mannered off the court. Cause when the ball gets tossed up he becomes a very aggressive player who plays very aggressively. 6'1" 8th grader played the point guard slot because that was what he was asked to do for his team. He has worked hard with the strength shoe and weights. Nicknamed "Superman" in junior high because of his demeanor from off court - on court. Weakness - has to develop consistent shot behind the arc. Last season range was 16-17 ft. It is difficult to keep him from getting to the basket. Still growing he will graduate at 17 years old. Because he's very quiet off the floor, playing in an average 2A district he's really been overlooked. Not to mention coach's son graduated from last year's club. Offensive sets were ran for his son. Granted he was a very good shooter, can coach really afford not to run set plays for a player has been physically blessed! Even with those circumstances the unselfish Bain was named his District Player of the year. Averaged double-double for the season. Probably close to triple-double because he's a good passer! Vertical leap over 40 inches - and a white kid at that! If he develops 20 ft jumper you have found a much quicker but smaller Larry Bird! I would be interested in hearing from any of their opponents who haved played against him!
  7. Lake disappeared yesterday in a scrimmage against a Kentucky school. He was shut down by a 6'3" ninth grader. He had 11 or 12 pts all in the 1st quarter. He also had one dunk. Yesterday he settled for the 20 ft. jumpshot. He never penetrated the lane nor did he attack the boards. I'm sure he's the real deal! Coach Rudesill appeared to have pulled him out maybe for not hustling! The 6'7" Olajuwon ? did not play well yesterday either. Oh yeah the other team had a 6'9" 270 lb. kid who gave him problems. Olajuwon will not matchup against someone taller than him on most nights. I was most impressed with the strength of Bolivar's players. They were very strong ripping away rebounds on missed shots. Also I think Bolivar was surprised the Fulton County matched their quickness level. In fact they probably defended better as a team down the stretch in winning the game over Bolivar by 4 points. Hopefully Rudesill got his teams attention! I can't decide if Bolivar was being lackadaisial or the Fulton County has the potential to make it to Rupp Arena in March. I wish Rick all the best this season because he ia a class act! If anyone else was at Dyersburg yesterday please offer your thoughts.
  8. Obviously you don't have a clue! You must not know Coach Cates nor do you understand his baseball past? Why would you pretend to be, "The Beave?" Why do you hate the baseball program at UTM?
  9. yes email me at bases2run@yahoo.com give me info and I'll call you or email you back you call me. I have a good friend whose looking to go to a different school. He keeps me informed on what he checks in to.
  10. Fullcourtpress, I never said he built a program. I said he has won most everywhere he has been. Newbern - 32-8 including 2 county championships and Best of the Northwest (TN) Champions '92. Ridgemont 15-4 first ever boys Obion County championship. Camden 30-6 - River Conference Champions both years. (2 years) - Two 4A TNT appearances. I think he deserves a chance to lead a high school program somewhere or at least an assistant role. He has paid his dues. He is constantly working to improve his ability and put himself around strong teachers of the game. I used to coach with him at a former school. He is not the bad guy you may think. Often times former umpires are not liked very well. Did you know he used to umpire summer league, high school and college baseball? Does that have any reason why you feel that way? Explain your opinion

  12. They have discussed the job with all three. Marty would be the right kind of blue collar fit for that program. He has won everywhere he has been. What have they got to lose? He could also help Coach Fishel as an assistant football coach. Do you think they would really give him an opportunity? Or are they afraid he might, just might succeed?
  13. Coach Maxedon are you leaving Selmer Middle? I student taught at McNairy Central in 1988 with Coach Horton. Math and history were taught by Coach Roberts. He had three blocks and basketball. Sounds ruff doesn't it! Principal Chuck West is a wonderful person to be around. Sean Stephenson is one of the most underrated coaches in West Tennessee! You would love working with him.
  14. Yes, there is an assistant girls basketball job at Dresden High. I may could help you with this job. Tell your husband I said hi. I ate supper with him at Applebees in Dyersburg awhile back. We discussed working together next year. Contact me I can help you with this job.
  15. Paper said Caleb Farmer, Clements can't pitch every day! He pitched the day before I believe. One pitcher that's crazy! Any good program will have developed more than one good pitcher. Greenfield just ran into a more established program. Most any school will always be mediocre until they decide to hire a baseball man to coach baseball at their school. Very few in Northwest Tennessee do that hire baseball men to coach baseball that are full time teachers!Believe me I wished people cared about this great game ...America's Pastime.
  16. Coach Sean Stephenson will be needing a new assistant basketball coach to work with him next season. Gary Roberts will be returning home to his alma mater to lead the Sharon Eagles. Working with Sean would be a wonderful opportunity for a young coach to work with also being with one of the premier single A programs in the state! If interested call Sean or Chuck West at Dresden High School. Congratulations to Gary, I know you will be a big time winner with your experience.
  17. Jeff would do as good a job or better than the former coach in my opinion. If I remember correctly way back when Lisa Pituch student taught at Obion Central she really undercut and badmouthed then girls BB coach Bobby Hausier. She really wanted to take over the program in his place. What's the old saying, "What goes around comes around!" I really respected Coach Hausier and the work he did with the girls at Obion Central.
  18. The words I am hearing are that they may make him take the girls job. Sounds kinda hard to believe. If someone didn't want to lead a program surely they could keep their current job in the system without it being jeopardized. Probably depends on if anyone esle outside shows an interest in the position. For someone not afraid to teach and rebuild this could be a positive situation. It's gonna take time 3-5 years. They are hungry for a winner! It is important to consider what kind of a teaching load would they have to carry? If they get lazy this job situation will be career suicide! What do ya'll think
  19. I agree with you, but he has contacted them about the position. Can't wait to see what happens
  20. Hey beave, I found out Curt Lee has expressed an interest in this job? Where do you think he will stack up against Jonathan?
  21. Brighton only interviewed 2 for this position. I know one of the candidates. Gibson County - the decision makers will decide Todd Halford is a little too young and experienced. I think he will be a very good coach in his prime, much better than Bain, his predecessor at Rutherford. Someone at this level gave him an opportunity. I believe Mr. Bo Booth is a class act and everytime I talk with him he is the ultimate in professional! HE WILL MAKE A GOOD DECISION! West Carroll - Something strange they are very slow to acknowledge there is an opening. Would they fill the jobs from within their system. Principal is a football man! Spanarkle are you interested in the job?
  22. Wouldn't it mean something if people cared about the baseball program? It's sad, this sport could turn out more scholarships than most any other sport. An average athlete can write his own ticket if he works at it!It's a crying shame our kids are missing out. You haven't thought of anybody actually signing a baseball scholarship around here have you? Probably Peanut Winn (87?) was the last to earn a baseball scholarship, only to quit so he could work at a gas station to make a car payment. He could still be playing professional baseball right now!! Baseball is a wonderful game! I challenge you to strengthen the level of baseball around here!
  23. Amy, I didn't realize you had been out of college for 6 years. Time gets away! I was at Freed when your brother Bill and Amber were there. Referring back to another post politics are every where I have ever been. I have never experienced it in a private situation. Have you thought about returning home to Florence? I truly wish you the best in your career in whatever direction you go. I know your family and know you are a good person. With the good female role model you are there is a place where you are needed. Young ladies learning this game need exactly what you can give them. The lord will send you where you are needed! Have faith in your ability to coach and don't allow those who have cast you aside to make you believe you are inept.
