  1. What actions has Bruce Pearl made that make his actions questionable, he cares about "nothing else", and that he has no class? Please be specific. As far as the accusation of fairweather fans, every program goes through this. A winning program is alwasy goping to be more popular than a losing one.
  2. Bottom line is Greenville's competition has been much weaker than Science Hill's. Based on the scores between the two teams, Science Hill is the stronger team. The only way Greenville could win is if they happen to get hot in their outside shooting that night, but to think they should win is escaping reality,
  3. Thanks Art. I recall when Bronson used to play for the Gate City Copperheads. Is he an example?
  4. I care. That's exactly what my boy did (played at D-B but zoned elsewhere), and I'm curious what the make up of the team is now. I am not trying to create an argument, and I have nothing to "get over". I just wanted to know the team composition.
  5. It will be Clinton all the way. The Dye/Dixon combo is too powerful.
  6. One thing in this DB/South debate that hasn't been mentioned. DB always has several kids from outside Kingsport, either Sullivan County or even outside the county, that play at D-B for the sports. How many on the DB basketball team actually live outside the school limits?
  7. Clinton won it at the freethrow line, and did a good job on the press. OR had the edge inside. OR did a better job getting inside in the second half, and when Younkin finally started stroking in the secong half it looked like OR was going to pass them on momentum. Clinton guards picked it up and put a stop to it though. The reffing was good. Clinton won decisively. I bet these two team up again in the playoffs. Should be a great game when they go at it again.
  8. Agree. If it doesn't come sooner, it will happen once they play the District 3 and 4 top schools, which are much stronger than SH, as happened last year. They will not make it to state.
  9. Powell loses to a very weak Halls team. Halls has barely won any games this year, winning a few at the start of the season before the football players got on most teams. Smith or no Smith, this puts Powell out of contention as any serious threat in this conference.
  10. I don't see how you guys can be arguing about how many points SH will win by, when that is dictated by how the coaches play their starters. Each coach has to decide how far they want to go with their starters once it becomes probably apparent SH will win the game. Beardon will make state. The other team is not too obvious, their are several but I doubt Greenville has a chance. I'd say William Blount, Science Hill, maybe Oak Ridge have a better shot.
  11. Lets face it. The etiquette of sports is the winner gets the final quote. Let the kid enjoy his moment of glory. If he missed his shot he wouldn't have gotten quoted. Don't try to over analyze the situation.
  12. By all means ask him. I didn't consider it a derrogatory remark, he was just making an observation.
  13. I was at a friends house in Oak Ridge when I saw it. It was replayed on Channel 15 Comcast, I believe the OR School Channel. It was David Clary, who said it more than once.
  14. Huh? That just doesn't make sense. Either you base your thoughts on others or on your own observations. In this case I did both. I think what you really mean to say is "keep your mouth shut and don't say anything negative about the team". But this is a message board isn't it? Stick to basketball rather than personal attacks against the posters and this Board will be better for it. As far as the timing, I watched the taped replay Sat afternoon.
  15. ......Uninformed comments like this are funny........IMO, every player on that team MERITS more playing time then what they are getting and that is just not happening....... Sounds like more people than the players have an attitute problem. Call me uninformed, its just from personal observation. Oh, and I watched the TV replay and the announcer said the same thing.
  16. Powell players seem to have an attitute problem. The coach needs to get that straightened out or they'll self destruct.
  17. All this doesn't matter, however, since the Toppers competition has been so weak. And beating S. East by one point is not exactly dominance. Wait until they play a team around Knoxville like Beardon or Oak Ridge and they will get clobbered.
  18. Its too early to tell about Dowdell since he's just a sophomore. If he doesn't grow much more he will need to improve on his outside shooting. If he grows then he has a shot at it.
  19. It was strange that the fans were yelling "ball hog" on Domsic. Until Stephans comes back, he's their best ball handler so in fact he needs to be the one hogging the ball. Dowdell got in foul trouble and got limited. He needs to cut down on his offensive fouls. That will come with experience as the Sophomore grows to be the top player in East Tenn in the next year or so.
  20. Oh come on now. How many times do Clinton fans have to blame the refs? In any case, once Oak Ridge get all their players back, it will not even be close.
  21. Halls won 63-57. Oak Ridge got into early foul trouble, and with only 8 players, exposed their bench. Revel Coffey had 4 dunks though, if that's any consolation for the Wildcat fans.
  22. Your right. In fact OR smeared South in a summer game when both teams had their football players, so those 2 losses don't mean anything, not does the close game with Campbell County. Depth is a problem with OR right now, but that problem will disappear once they get Stephens (last years starting point guard freshman) back in Jan. and Gregory (a 6'5 soph post transfer) here next week.
  23. Hey guys last time I checked this was a basketball forum, not football. So everyone seems to think Science Hill was the top team in E. Tenn., and they proceed to get creamed by South tonite. You DB'ers who think they will beat South had better be careful. Oh BTW, a couple weeks ago South also handily beat Oak Ridge which are 2nd ranked in the Knoxville area. True OR didn't have their football players, but nevertheless South will be a force to be reckoned with.
  24. 3 Observations: 1. Ravenwood defense got a good jump on the snap count 1/2 the time. OR should have mixed the snap count to force offsides. 2. OR should have closed the middle right after the first drive instead of waiting until the second 1/2. They made the adjustment (beefing the middle and allowing single coverage) but it was a little too late. 3. On the Ravenwood fake punt at the end, the OR rusher (21) should have protected the corner instead of coming straight in for a block. Comments?
  25. With the influence of UT football (and pretty lousy UT basketball), the east tends to be football country. I know a few kids that are good in both sports in HS and quit BB to concentrate on football. That would be one reason though certainly not the only.
