  1. Farragut over Cent. Hendersonville over Bearden (could be the match of the tournament) Farragut over Hendersonville in the final (in OT)
  2. I think size plays a role in soccer, it seemed to play a role in this game. There were several 50/50 balls where the Cent. player was able to outmuscle the LHS player to the ball, especially in midfield. The Lavergne midfield had trouble maintaining possession in the 2nd half. They did a great job in the 1st because they kept their spacing and spread the attack. The second half they allowed Cent to take the attack to them and they played on their heels most of the time.
  3. The only player holding Centennial in the tournament is Bristol. Bristol is the only reason they made it as far as they have! LaVergne dominated the 1st half and there was no score until the middle of the second half. Centennial didn't know what to do with us. They also had a rather high foul rate and out did LHS on yellow cards. Proving the old adage that there are two sides to every game -- I saw this game and thought the first half was even with both teams creating some opportunities. LaVergne did a good job of creating space and negating Cent. size and speed advantage in this half. The second half was pretty much all Centennial with the exception of the last five minutes. LaVergne did not have the size or speed to keep up. Bristol was unreal on a couple of saves, but what did you expect; he is one of the top players in the state/nation.

  5. I took a look at the results from some of the traditional top teams in the state (CAK, Farragut, Bearden, Christian Bros, Father Ryan, and Brentwood. Between these six teams they have a total of 11 games where they either shut a team out and won by more than 6 or beat a team by a score of 7-1 or more. The highest score I could find was 9-0, followed by two 8-0 games. I'm thinking these teams understand when to call off the dogs / work on other skills / or maybe they just understand karma. Lessons are learned from hard fought victories and defeats, not humilating or being humiated.
  6. Father Ryan 3 Franklin 1
  7. Try http://blogs.knoxnews.com/preps/archive ... s_al.shtml There probably have been some changes, but not that many.
  8. I agree -- Acosta from CBHS is very good as is Kauffmann from MUS. Pollard was 7 of 8 from over over 40 (five of six from inside 40) according to another website. He also uses the lower college tee for his kick-offs which takes away a little height but is something college coaches like to see. The championship game should be a great one.
  9. Purdue, Clemson, Marshall, UTC, and UNLV (before the coaches were fired) were the frontrunners for Pollard. Vandy and Tennessee were in the mix originally but they both chose to offer elsewhere.
