  1. Congrats Tribe! Good hard fought, well played, good ball protection, great play execution, an all-around great effort! You deserve the win! It's time to keep pressing forward, beat Volunteer and we'll motor along with the momentum into the playoffs! ROLL TRIBE!
  2. Indians play well tonight! Your hard work ethic and dedication will bring a big win! DB 28 -SH 10, ROLL TRIBE
  3. I'll be in Johnson City too 71. Boone is the Rodney Dangerfield of " maybe the whole state".Even if they were to pull off the victory,it would make most say TH was just over rated and had some luck earlier in the season.I know I would bring some attitude up from the country. As for Dobyns Bennett,if we can't beat SH,we should stay at home and count all the good things that have happened in the last few years because we are just not a good team this year...Up until now,we have all the excuses in order, but there would be none for a lose to SH this year. Sounds like you're hoping for a Daniel Boone win. Are you still a little sore from the loss to the Vikings? I know it must be tough on you Indians this year. I don't believe in excuses by the way. There are none. And by the way, Sensabaugh's groin injury had to be the fastest healing one I have ever heard of. Maybe he had an excuse--he didn't want to be trucked anymore!! Are you kiddin'???? You win 1 game against DB in recent history and think you're top dog and that you were so tough that we didn't want to play in the game???? You're sadly mistaken! When TH can run a string of 4 or 5 victories in a row over DB, then maybe you'd have a little something to "crow" about. You'll be coming to our house next year, see ya then pal... For your future edification, I think TH will probably win this game --- but I will tell you that going into this game with that attitude can get you beat! Boone doesn't make a lot of mistakes and they take advantage of every opportunity! Sounds as if you're ripe for the pickin'......
  4. Oh yeah --- by the way, if DB wasn't playing SH in a historic and possible playoff implications game, I would be at the castle to see this one! ROLL TRIBE!
  5. We played both schools and both of you won the game against us. To tell you the truth, I think this one is to close to call. It will be a battle of will and endurance, both of you would be deserving of a win IMHO. Just want to send both teams the best and pray that all the young talented men on the field stay free from injury during this contest. Hats off to both teams for being well coached and playing hard, may the best team win! Good luck to both --- you're both heading to a possible conference championship and the playoffs!
  6. I'm sure they are saving them for after the first round of the playoffs........ Yeah, cause they don't play DB in the first round. Don't worry guys, South hasn't got their fill of crow and will come back for another heapin' helpin' in due time!
  7. For me Dobyns-Bennett vs Science Hill, Kingsport vs Johnson City, neighbor vs neighbor --- just doesn't get much better than that for us! DB has dominated this series, but I've never seen any two teams fight harder to win and it usually ends up being close. DB is down this year but we will be up for this game! I hear the war drums beating louder and louder............. I will mention that the DB/Oak Ridge rivalry is a close second when it was going on, like to see that one come back!
  8. Good luck to you too! I believe if you guys keep it in the trenches, can play toe-to-toe with South!
  9. I will be with you on that,if we win next week. This is the first game after South that I wanted DB to win at the start of the year. The way it's played out,the winner will will go to the playoffs.I just don't see Central beating SH, or Volunteer coming close to DB on senior night. The bad news for the winner is a first round super team, but that's what you want from day 1,{a chance}. This is a must win game for DB and I have no doubt that we can win this one! I believe we could play with just about anybody if we eliminate the simple mistakes and execute! A 1st round super team match up would be fine with me, I think it's about time that we spoil a higher ranked team's opening round! This could be the start of something good..........ROLL TRIBE!
  10. In my opinion, theres a 265 pound reason Sumo didn't get going until the third quarter, and he wasn't able to play in the second half { Patrick H}.Patrick may be the most important player on the team, because of not only at center, but how he stops up the middle on defense when he is in there. It let's the ends and linebackers use their speed by making the center and guards have to go after him much more in double teams.Add that with a double on the end,and the linebackers will have a field day in their backfield. That's how this defense is made to work.Roll Tribe Batman you are exactly correct! I had forgot that PH went out with what seemed to be an ankle injury. He needs to get well quick!
  11. This will be a close one! Records are thrown out, every game between these two are for bragging rights no matter what the standings are! Sensabaugh will have a big night and look for Steele to be the difference maker late in the game again! ROLL TRIBE!
  12. Cap1, was that you I saw at the game wearing the yellow poncho????
  13. I thought Sumo was one of the hardest runners I've seen this year, although he really didn't start running hard until the 3rd quarter. We should see him running on Saturdays in the future. Sensabaugh had a very good night, would have been better if penalties behind the play were not called - go figure! The Indians need to eliminate the stupid mistakes they've been making all year which has made them a mediocre team. I know Clark is not happy with this. Come on Indians, let's get it together and put it on the 'Toppers this Friday! ROLL TRIBE!
  14. Definitely a defining game of the season for the Tribe. Can't take a chance in coming out flat --- gotta get our game face on and take care of business tonight! Somehow I think DB rolls in this one after last week's performance! ROLL TRIBE!
  15. From what I understand as per a DB football statistician, this is the 1st meeting of these two teams ever! ROLL TRIBE!
  16. Thanks Batman for the overview! I agree too that a team can never just "show up" and expect to win, it takes work and ethic. I always told my boys that 3 things would bring about success: (1) when you buckle the chin strap, the attitude changes (2) give everything you got for a total team effort (3) keep it between the lines ROLL TRIBE!
  17. I for one would like to see Swafford Chris needs to get healthy and rested for later season games. I must admit that I know very little about Crockett; so if anyone could expound on the subject, please do so for my benefit. I will be looking forward to seeing these teams to "knock heads" at the J Fred this Fiday! ROLL TRIBE!
  18. Right you are, Jason is VERY enjoyable to watch on Sundays! Often we as fans do not recognize the talent underneath the high school athlete we see week-in/week-out. There have been and are presently many from this area that will be playing on Saturdays and some will continue to play on Sundays. I forgot to mention the name of Cody on my original post of Saturday players. I bet many of you could add to the list of Div 1 players from our local schools. Make no mistake, I am a DB football fan but I DO support High School football and the fine young men that play it well here in upper east TN. I wish all that participate the very best and that they are successful. ROLL TRIBE! PS: THS you've got it going on!
  19. Batman...you and most other CS advocates need a dose of reality. TV? Get a grip. There are currently no Division I athletes in NET that I have seen. When you go through the recruiting process and follow through to the scholarship celebration it is just that...a celebration. When you show up for camp you see that everyone on the whole team is All State, POY, etc., etc., etc. At that time it becomes just an award. It don't get you far. So far from what I see Ty Garvin, Clint Phillips, CS, KS, even Bradley Tallman are all Division II at best. It's not just being good. You have to have all the right dimensions. With blazing speed being the utmost important factor. Everyone has this Division I rainbow with their sons name at the end of it. Trust me...been there done that. CS is a good RB and fun to watch. But DI? I don't think so. So he has already been offered? I'll believe it when I see it. The best most productive RB in the area is Bradley Tallman currently and he will not go DI. At least not as a RB. He will be made into a LB...and that is at the DII level. He is not tall enough. There are exceptions to the rules but when you see them they control every game they play in. Help or no help. And they don't get hurt every other game. Some of the best educations are at DII schools and even NAIA anyway. These schools are upwards of 30 grand on a regular basis. There is really alot to look at. CS's name will go along way in promoting his stock. At least he has that going for him. The elder Phillips told me a long time ago, "just let them enjoy their high school career and if they get a chance to play college ball and get an education then great. Reduce the pressure and let them enjoy this time in their life." Because so few can withstand the pressure of the job a scholorship brings them...at any level much less DI. So what I'm saying is once you've seen first hand what it takes to compete at that level you come back down to earth and realize that yes, you can "Shoot for the Stars, and if you don't get there you will land pretty high anyway-Knute Rockne'", but you walk away being able to see the forest in spite of the trees. Yes, you have to have a dream, but out of respect for the ones that get there it takes so much more than that. formerblazer - Didn't realize you were a talent scout in addition to your other many outstanding qualities! In recent years several Div 1 players have emerged from this local area by the names of Gerald, Adonis, Patrick and Curt - just to mention a few and 2 of these players I just mentioned went on to the NFL, all since the year 2000. I watched them play and based on what I saw then compared to what I see in CS, he should be a Saturday player if he keeps his head on straight! I understand he already has ACC & SEC (I'm sure you know these are Div 1 schools ) looking at him with forthcoming offers. CS has the size, speed and all the personal attributes Div 1 schools are looking for. BatmanDB is exactly correct in his assesment, you however, are wrong!
  20. To formerblazer, I must tell you that Boone is a very good team this year, congrats to your team. I'm sure beating DB this year is sweet, so enjoy. The only reason I made my statement was due to Boone supporters calling in on local sports talk shows and making the statements such as "Boone has the best defense in the state of TN." The young men on the Boone team deserve what they have worked for and earned! I hope you can continue your winning ways and make it to the playoffs and represent your school and upper east TN well, heck it wouldn't make me mad to see you bring home a state championship! Side note: When Boone or anyone else can beat DB year in and year out, then they have bragging rights! That’s a tall order; don’t set the bar so high that you cannot clear it. We are down this year but we will be back! See ya next year.......ROLL TRIBE!
  21. Geez.... PS Boone is nowhere near as good as they think they are.....listen, we are 6-1 and have our schedule and play our games. We were good enough to beat Seymour, Cherokee, North, Central, Science Hill.....and DB. We took South to overtime. No Boone fan (wait I take that back one comes on here and states we are the greatest...not me) thinks that we are the cream of the crop. We do believe in working hard and taking what we are dealt and then...whatever happens happens. If we beat volunteer, beat crockett. and beat TH 3-0 then still...we would hear that the kids overlooked Boone and it wasn't their best game and...excuses excuses. TN High may beat us and if it happens it happens...but Boone would still be 8-2 and at the end of the day... we won some games and played some close ones. Get over your school's history and start living in the now. You got beat by Boone and TN High...live with it. First of all, congrats to THS --- The BEST team in East TN by a long shot! Class act, well coached and well rehearsed! They should win the Big 8 and should do well into the playoffs. As a comparison THS is head and shoulders above Boone. When Boone played "the" DB, they had no sustained drives except for scoring drives from DB turnovers and DB having 2 touchdowns recalled from stupid penalties. Boone does have a good team, but not as good as they think they are.
  22. Agreed! It's time to get a shower and then head to THE game! Cap, you are a gentleman and scholar! May the best team win ---- of course DB! ROLL TRIBE!
  23. I'd take a one point win in a down pour right now!! One of the best games DB has played in the last few years was a Campbell county in a cold rain last year.I'll never forget the crazy old woman that walked in front of me and Adams after the game and said{GOOD GAME CAMPBELL county!!},we looked at each other in disbelief,I said it was granny Clampett on the jug. You all need to be posting in the DB-Tn High thread so Cap can tell you how wrong you are. We are posting on the DB-TN High thread - check it out- it's time that this puppy is laid to rest until next year! ROLL TRIBE!
  24. I was there at that game and I remember seeing this lady --- you are right! Long drive there but I always looked forward to it! My sons had some of their best games there. A 1 point win is always good, if DB gets the "bugs" out of their game then this will be a 2 touchdown game! ROLL Tribe!
  25. Made this same post on the DB/Sul South thread --- couldn't hardly tell the difference of the 2 threads! Looks as if it could be a wet one tonight, to which it doesn't give one team an advantage over the other. I do know that this is the 3rd time in 4 years that DB has been at the castle, wonder how that came about???? THS has always been and will always be a force to recon with! Make no mistake, if you do not play good ball against them then you will be on the low scoring outcome side. DB has won the last 5 in a row knowing this simple rule and no doubt will bring their "A" game tonight! The dominance continues. PS: Boone is nowhere near as good as they think they are! DB 27 THS 13 ROLL TRIBE!
