  1. I would say the pass defense is pretty good. They have only allowed 3 passing touchdowns all season, and they have 14 Ints. 9 of those are by the Warbritton brothers alone(Jacob has 6 and Tyler has 3).
  2. So because you feel this is the last year to have a contender, a Perry Co. player should win by default. Doesn't that somehow diminish the value of the award? Warbritton is a senior so this is his last opportunity as well. By the way, I've seen Tucker play once and Warbritton play every game. That by no means gives me the right to say who the better player is. I have no problem with you being so supportive of your player and for you to acknowledge how great a player he is. You comparisons just don't hold much weight nor would mine. By the way, I wish Jacob Tucker the best of luck in the future.
  3. I can't really see how anyone on this topic could possibly reply in an unbiased manner. Of course, all of you are going to go with the young man you have seen play the most and rightfully so. It's almost like a beauty contest. My guess is that this award usually goes to the one who gets the most press which gives Middle TN players an advantage. So be it. And you all can site enough stats to make any high school math teacher blush, but none of that is really valid unless all these young men have faced the exact same teams, played the exact same number of minutes, had the exact same number of snaps, etc. Take a stat class if you don't believe me. Of the ones mentioned here, I have seen one player play with my own eyes. That is Tyler Warbritton. I could copy and paste all his stats here from unapproved website but anyone can see that for themselves. My vote for him would not be based on numbers but on what I have seen. Warbritton was put in the qb position after the first few games last year, so this is his first and last season of full qb play and what an impact he has made. He is a play maker on both sides of the ball. His effort to turn any and every play into something positive is not often seen in high school football games. When the ball is in his hands, something great is likely to happen. Whether he is even nominated for this award or not, he is the heart and soul of this year's Huntingdon team and they and those that watch and support him have already acknowledged how vital he has been to the 2011 Mustangs. Frankly, from what I know about him, he just wants to win football games. Good luck to all those in consideration and may they all make lasting memories on the field that they can brag about to their kids and grandkids in 20 years.
  4. Then just how should your comment be taken? I'm sure no one on the Mustang team will lose any sleep tonight because a Perry County fan was unimpressed. I guess it's just a shame you wasted good gas money on the trip. Great win Mustangs!! Your town is very proud of you.
  5. Oh, I'm very aware. I was just hoping he could say something nice or at least productive or not comment at all. And it's you're(meaning you are) not your(possessive).
  6. Just what is your problem with Huntingdon? I don't look on here often, but whenever I do happen to check in on a Huntingdon thread, your name always seems to pop up on the list with some scarcastic or snide comment. Why can't fans of the Mustangs have a SERIOUS conversation about the team? You do it enough with the Rebel threads. So for those who are on this thread to talk about the Mustangs, I too thought they got off to a pretty good start, and I'm looking forward to the Trenton game. Should be a good one.
  7. Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the head coach also in charge of defense? Making sure that it is appropriately taught and understood by players, and adjusted when necessary. Many may make the assertation that offense won Huntingdon its one and only championship. I would say that HHS won their championship due to two things: Terrance Bell's speed and an outstanding defense that gave up very little.
  8. Huntingdon dropped Milan and Dyer County. Trenton and South Gibson were added in those two spots.
  9. No disrespect to you or your opinions, but please allow me to disagree. First, the statue is of a horse not a man. It seems you have close ties with the current coach at Huntingdon, but I think it's a little extreme to even suggest a statue of him will one day be erected. 2nd, maybe someone should have asked the more than 10 young men who quit the team why they did that. Did anyone care? I know many of these young men and their abilities would have helped on the field. This has to say something about the program, doesn't it? Next, who, including Paul Ward, would be pleased with a 5-7 record? Lastly, any coach can have a preferred offensive plan that they believe is THE BEST, but if you don't have the talent to support it, what good does it do to keep calling the same plays over and over? AND, what about defense?? Is it being taught, too? I'm really tired of hearing "we do what we do." There were 7 teams this year that showed that "what we do" just didn't isn't good enough.
  10. I'm confused. Who are you talking about working for the orthodontist? I'm a complete supporter of the Mustangs and hope they do win this game. But I sincerely hope no one, be it coach or player, is overlooking Lake County. That's disrespectful, arrogant, and probably pretty stupid at this point in the playoffs. With their win/loss record, no Mustang coach has anything to brag about. Talk like that will find you saving plenty of gas as you sit home the next Friday night eating cake. I have no doubt Lake Co. is ready to go and will give the Mustangs all they can handle but as I said I'm all blue and gold with no disrespect to LC.
  11. That's because, if I'm not mistaken, you were in the press box, right? It was probably a little difficult for you to see. Ask some of your Rebel fans where it is. They were climbing all over the mustang making pictures after the game. After our other three losses at home this year, no other team did that. Can't you Rebel fans take your win without denigrating the opposing team and their facility? I have family members who played for the Mustangs Friday night. I can tell you that they played their hearts out and most definitely didn't want to lose the game. Not necessarily because they were playing against McKenzie but because they never want to lose a game. That's not why they play nor does any other young man who steps on a field. Thankfully your attention is now on the playoffs and off this game.
  12. So in other words, you don't know either. I think I'll pass on the googling suggestion. I'm a bit fearful of what I might find.
  13. I really hate to interrupt this "humble" tribute to the McKenzie football program and the overwhelming inevitablity of their upcoming victory on Oct. 29th to ask such a mundane question, but here it goes. Just exactly what is a "hoser" and why is anyone who shows any support of the Huntingdon program referred to as one? I'm afraid my seemingly efficient vocabulary doesn't cover that word.
  14. Not his grandfather, but good player and great kid.
  15. I'm just a mustang fan who's mostly been lurking on this board for a while. But I felt the need to reply to the constant talk of offense. Eventually Huntingdon will meet a really good defense, maybe even this Friday night. Let's face it. Our offensive strategy isn't hard to figure out. I'm taking nothing away from Holder. He's a very good back, but he can't be our whole offense. Supposedly a defensive starter has been taken off defense so he can be fresher for offense. Attention must be paid to the defense by not only the defensive coordinator but the head coach as well. It's troublesome when I read and hear so much negativity toward the defense. The kids that play on that side of the ball are giving it their best with mostly no credit. West Carroll scored a total of 8 points, yet the comments I've read here made it sound like our defense was a failure that night. Keep in mind these young men are still "students" of the game and must be taught. Would just like to see some more "teaching" going on.
