  1. Well I've wondered where you've been. So does your logic mean when 1st ranked Alabama only scored 12 to beat a mediocre Tennessee team, that meant they were pretty lame? I think your anger and bitterness may be clouding your thinking. You and your friends seem committed to your chosen path but I'm refreshed that other calmer voices with a broader perspective have joined the discussion. Please remember to invite me to your upcoming anti-coach activities. Then perhaps we'll talk in person and you may realize that I'm not just some delusional guy talking about things he knows nothing about. You might even realize that we probably feel similarly about a lot of things, our opinion about the best approach just differs. I've chosen to ignore your derogatory personal comments but I honestly believe I care as much about Karns as you do. I don't see this as an "us against them" type of thing but rather a subject of widespread concern that needs a solution that's a good long term step for the community. As you probably remember, the whole "valley" was once considered Karns, in fact the firehall next to Sims Market (an icon of the west part of the old Karns) is still called the "Karns Volunteer Fire Department".
  2. I really like what these new posters are bringing to this discussion. I don't believe this situation is beyond repair & I honestly think it/he deserves another chance. Pray guy quotes from the Book "Wisdom is better than weapons of war". Maybe we've heard a little wisdom on this thread today? "Karns Wins - 12/7 in the 1st ever meeting with the HVA Hawks". Apparently it has little significance to most of you but this game's still the single best thing I've experienced from Karns football since I've been following it. In fact I intend to watch the game again this week on Comcast On Demand. Most of you may not realize how much they wanted to win, but I work with an HVA dad and he can't hardly stand for me to talk about the game and how happy I am about it. They wanted it bad. We needed it bad. We got it!!!
  3. Well I'm about as "in the valley" as anybody and I don't support the cause. Like the "Coach" poster I too believe you guys are delusional if you think Dr. Davis is going to be moved by your petition. If Dr. McIntyre is dragged into it I assume he'll just look at the history of Karns, see the football drama of a few years ago and dismiss the whole situation using his smooth yankee political skills. I don't know if any of you petitioners go to meetings at the High School but if any of you went to the big "fieldhouse" meeting with the Doc when he 1st took charge then you have another reason to reconsider the folly of your efforts. In that meeting we (the Karns family) came across as a bunch of disorganized bumpkins, which I'm sure he and his downtown posse have certainly not forgotten. But speaking of the fieldhouse, here's an idea that might really help the community and the football team. Why don't all you 400 petitioners refocus your time, energy, money, and web page into getting that long sought after fieldhouse built. I personally believe it would go a lot further toward promoting the football program than the rant and riot that you currently seem to be planning. Despite our differences in what should happen next, we're probably more alike than you realize in our assessment of what's gone down in the football program over the past few years. Hopefully you'll keep your promise to let us know when you're planning to meet with Davis and/or McIntyre. Thanks. And if zs is that preacher's kid who used to pray after the games I'll be very surprised if your approach is something his dad agrees with.
  4. QB, Unfortunately it seems to me that this is much more of a "We get mad & then we get even" situation than one where logic matters. It looks like even bible truths won't stop the frenzy. Thanks for trying. I'm getting a colder & colder shoulder; maybe some one else can keep us from a publicly viewed sequel of the original edition of "Karns football madness". Personally I'm still savoring that victory over HVA. But maybe that's what most of them are jealous of? The pray guy sounds pretty strong on some of his scripture spouting. Maybe he'll get a prayer through and the scene will change. Karns 12 - HVA 7 This has a really nice ring to it!!! Karns 12 - HVA 7 What a way to end the season!!! Karns 12 - HVA 7 A win we'll remember for a long time!!!
  5. Have you noticed that everyone else in East TN is concentrating on the football games rather than this thread? Plus it's a bit presumptuous for you to declare you and your friends represent the "real Karns family". Would you say the 2 three yr starters on the team have as much right to be called "the real Karns family" as you do? I haven't asked them or their families but I don't think they would agree with your strategy. I'm almost certain there are some of the other seniors (probably most all of them) that don't agree with your strategy either. Perhaps you consider everyone who doesn't agree with you to be totally insignificant but my friends and I believe that we represent the real Karns family as much as anyone does. I guess when you guys deliver your ugly message to Dr Davis we'll meet you there (you did say we were invited) and we'll all have a nice discussion about the future of Karns football. Then Dr Davis and Mr Chandler will do what they think is best and maybe all of us in the Karns family can find something better to do with our time. Did you go watch a game this evening? Karns Wins - HVA loses Beavers rule; Hawks drool. Now there's something we can all celebrate. Karns Wins - HVA loses Beavers rule; Hawks drool. Now there's something we can all celebrate. Karns Wins - HVA loses Beavers rule; Hawks drool. Now there's something we can all celebrate.
  6. You know, calling one of your fellow Karns supporters a "dumb a" doesn't really help our efforts to unify around the success of the program. I do know some things about Coach Morris leaving, I do know that the Thomas kid seemed to have a lot of potential, I do believe that Catholic has a lot of QB's vying for that position, and I think that perhaps with Coach Morris working at the middle school level the power of his advocacy for the kids he convinced to come over will be less. Plus I don't think I said anything at all in the other post about losing that QB being "an excuse". But when you look at the starting lineups for HVA it seems pretty obvious that, as Coach Reeves has noted, the rezoning did have an effect on the Karns program. One thing you and your rowdy, negative thinking friends might want to think about ----> If your efforts to oust the coach aren't successful then all you're doing is further poisoning the waters surrounding Karns, causing even more parents to send their football loving sons elsewhere and probably making even more folks that watch these threads to wonder just why the Karns community seems to be such a self-destructive place. Plus, after the "we want a field house" meeting at Karns, the new Yankee superintendent probably already thinks we're a bunch of morons. Taking a mob of wild-eyed, petition waving folks downtown to meet with him isn't going to help change that perception. Thanks for offering to let me attend your "delivery". Please let me know the where and when. I'd honestly like to know who some of you are and to try to better understand why you're so angry. Surely even you guys can get enthusiastic about this: Karn 12 HVA 7. How sweet it is. Go Karns.
  7. With all the returning starters Karns could easily be at least a 5-5 team next year. Except that at Catholic they have to pay for school and study catholicism, what would the difference be between those guys who left Karns playing one place or the other? The QB who left would most likely have been the Karns starter next year. Will he be on the field or on the JV team at Catholic?
  8. Catholic looks like one of the more notable underachievers of the year. Sure they moved up but going from state champs to 5-5 is a pretty long fall - especially losing to Heritage. You have to consider the how great the effect of the coaching change has been. I say Mo West wins this one. But maybe by next year those guys Coach Morris recruited away from Karns will make a difference?
  9. Hawksdad, It's good that you can wish the guys well in the midst of your experience. It's very unfortunate that our kids get caught in the middle of these distasteful experiences but life just isn't perfect. One good thing at this point is that it appears both you and your son have been able to minimize the pain and look forward to better days ahead. It's too bad that not everyone in the Karns threads has been able to do likewise. I don't have any way of knowing what Coach R may have said to the players but I do know that he invited/let the transfers-to-be continue to workout in the weight room. My understanding (from someone who was there) is that some of the HVA guys got so disruptive that Coach finally told them they couldn't come any more. It doesn't seem to be a situation that's going to be resolved by talking, petitioning, fighting, etc. It's really up to Dr Davis to take action or not. If everyone will pause to remember the previous debacle in the Fulkerson era with public protests by parents, black armbands worn by players, TV interviews, etc then you should realize that Dr Davis isn't likely to be moved by such tactics. But one of the great things about our country is the freedom to say what you desire to say in the venue and by the method (as long as it's non-violent) that you desire to display it. So long live the petition and those who choose to sign it.
  10. Madness. Since you claim to know so much about how coaches think and act, you should know that the HVA Coach was trying to downplay the importance of the game because he knew his guys were underdogs and he knew how very important it was to both schools. Also, most smart coaches try to avoid saying things that other teams can use as motivation. Who knows how much difference it made, but Coach R used the HVA coach's comments as bulletin board material for his team to see how disrespected Karns is, even by a new coach at a startup school. I can guarantee that the HVA boosters would pay a lot of money to have that "Pride of Pellissippi" trophy in their possession right now!!! I honestly think it would be better for you and some of your bitter friends to totally transfer your allegiance to HVA, Powell, etc because your attitude isn't going to do anything but hurt Karns further. I honestly feel bad for you and others who had a bad experience with Karns football, but if you check around I think you'll see that things aren't perfect anywhere. In fact I've already heard of some grousing about the HVA coach and have heard the comment that he's not a great "people person", which won't help him deal with his HVA "clientele" in the long run . As far as the players you mentioned, I have already said that I feel very bad for the way things went down for Dees at Karns. I don't know the others although I was told that 44 tried to cheap shot "golden boy" on the last play kneel down last night and almost got in a fight. So now the year is over and everyone can set up an appointment with Mr. Chandler and/or Mr. Davis to express their opinion. Regarding of what the last poster said, I wouldn't call you guys immature but you obviously seem to have a lot of pent up emotion. My Karns experience is almost over and I'll be moving on to other challenges. I really encourage you to try to do the same. Hawks look better when they've been "plucked". Hawks look better when they've been "plucked". Hawks look better when they've been "plucked".
  11. Hawk fans (who never did post anything at all about this game) - hang in there. You may find it hard to believe and/or not agree, but Karns really needed this win worse than you did. Try not to get depressed over the season. It' a measuring stick you can use to move forward. You should have almost the whole team back next year, including those 10-15 starters who should have been playing for Karns last night. It looked to me like you had things organized very well at the game and there were a lot of volunteers. You even had some upscale concessions although it will be a very cold day in Knoxville before I pay someone $3 for a class of iced tea at a football game. Despite the record I think your program is off to a good start. The facility looked great. You really need to thank Mr Deakins and his school board buddies for ponying up all that money. Karns has been trying for many years and still doesn't have the cash for a field house. It'll take awhile to become another Farragut but it'll probably happen eventually. Just don't keep stealing our athletes in order to get there.
  12. Madness. So it was a mediocre performance against a startup team. I think you're missing what may be the main point of the whole matter. Karns, the perennial dormat/whipping boy/laughing stock Karns, the every-year-we-just-can't-quite-get-it-done Karns, the we-lost-again-in-the-last-seconds-to-WB Karns, the I-never-want-to-be-called-a-beaver Karns, actually stepped up and won a big one. On TV no less. One thing that's got to change if Karns is ever going to turn it around is attitude, and honestly, yours really stinks. You sign up for CoachT this week, the very last week of the season, apparently just so you could b**** and moan. I hate to be this blunt, but maybe you just need to man up, acknowledge that some experiences in life suck and that's the way it is, and move on. It's not hurting Coach R that you and your friends hate him so bad, it's only hurting you. I saw Mad Max with his family there at the game. If anybody has a right to complain, he does. If they'd have thrown the ball to him as much as they should have last year, he might have a nice football scholarship right now. But I don't think he's wasting his time and ruining his life by thinking about it. I'll ask about the fight today. I believe I do remember the incident, maybe it was Tiecel who did the punching? I'm sorry to be upset but this is perhaps the best moment in Karns football since I've been associated with the program! I get up early just to savor the moment (and figure out how I can get a video of the game to watch) and here's some guy spewing the same nasty rant again. It's your life but I think it's going to be a more difficult one if your perspective doesn't change. I was in the IHOP last night after the game. There were a bunch of Hawk students there. It was great. We even got entertained by former Karns student and football player Joe Buckner doing his George W. Bush impersonations. SINCE WE ACTUALLY WON THE BIG ONE FOR A CHANGE, we got to do quite a bit of friendly dishin' on them. That's right KARNS WAS DOING THE DISHIN', not getting dished. You might have seen it as just a crappy win against a crappy team, but the bragging rights for this one will last for a LONG time - one year exactly! I'm honestly sorry that your experience with Karns football was so terrible. But if you weren't celebrating after that game last night you're really letting your own personal issues cheat you out of lot of good stuff in life. A GREAT moment for Karns football! And if we can get us a quarterback we've got almost everyone else back next year. The season is over. If you and anyone else wants to comment about the program now's the time to do it. I'm sure Mr. Chandler will be glad to see you.
  13. If that's true about Krebs it's not a very good thing. Hope his parents went to talk to Dr. Davis. My understanding is that, after Coach R was nice enough to let them still come to workouts, some of those guys who were transferring kept running their mouth so much he had to uninvite them from workouts. I'm sure this situation created animosity that didn't immediately go away. If Krebs is one of those brash linebacker types maybe he was among the trash talkers? I also like Dees a lot and understand exactly why he's going to be after the golden boy, but we'll have to see how quickly he can get around the Karns blocker(s) and/or keep from losing his temper and get stupid penalties. I'm glad all you former players are coming tonight but if you're on the Karns side and you start yelling for HVA I'll be over for a little talk. It ain't about the coaches, it's about the team and the school. If you were still playing for Karns how bad would you want to win tonight? I went by Sims Market an hour ago. The TV truck was there and they'd started setting up. Go Karns. Do you guys ever eat at Sims?
  14. When it comes to football I don't think Karns will take anyone lightly. I guess you're a radio guy but for all who have Comcast cable this is the CSS TV Game of the week - game starts at 7:30PM on Channel 33. Come to the game and get on TV!
  15. Well GoKarns I've got some friends at HVA too but I say we gonna pluck them Hawks tonight baby. I didn't mean to say that you were Baller's son, only that I knew Baller said he had a son who played and I invited him to come out. I'll be watching for former players in the crowd. I'm a counter culture kind of guy and Mad Max was always one of my favorites. I know all you guys played as hard as you could all the time and I'm sure it was frustrating. Come on out and root for Karns - I believe this will be our night. Coach Logan - very nice to hear from you. What about those Warriors? Will tonight be another Cloudland? Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Go Karns! Does Hardin Valley actually have any fans? Are they all too uppity to post on CoachT?
  16. It's tough to know what will bring about positive change. But I'm in it for the players right now. I usually set further up in the older folks section and don't generally see a lot of you younger guys, but I often see Dustin at the games. I don't know who you are but I believe the best thing you, Baller's son, and other former players can do tomorrow night is to show up and support the team. As you've probably realized, except for one or two fanatics there just aren't a lot of yellers among the Karns faithful. Maybe that's because they aren't that faithful? For the sake of the kids and the school, we really NEED to win this game. Come out and cheer. Just forget about who's coaching. KARNS is playing and we're there to win. Besides, the game is on TV and if you come and act or dress crazy you'll get on the tube!!! Go Karns.
  17. Mr. Madness, when I was in high school it was unheard of that a student or graduate would actually root for the rival school across town. Maybe you're just angry because Coach Reeves didn't recognize your talent and let you play very much? To answer someone else's comment, I never said that the Karns coaches were the best ever or even my favorites. What I said was that I didn't see any value to the school or the football program in being so negative during the season, especially in a public venue like CoachT. The program will never progress if they don't have quality players. Players and future players read these posts. All this negativity doesn't seem to me like it will help encourage people to want to play for Karns and actually sheds a dim light on the whole community. You expect someone from Powell to bash Karns, but when the slams come from our own ranks, what does that say? Mr. Dragon, thanks for the positive words. Unless they come out really flat or have early turnovers, I believe Karns will come away with a clear cut victory. The "golden boy" quarterback hasn't played outstandingly since the Powell game and he's due. I doubt home field advantage will mean much at all. For everyone's sake I hope the rain holds off. Go Karns.
  18. Well sucky or not I care and I believe others at both schools do to. Hey since you and a few other Karns posters like Baller and Jammin seem to know a whole lot about the players, practices, coaches, etc, what's up with senior d lineman 69 apparently losing his starting spot to a little used underclassman just before getting ready to play his last game ever for Karns. From what I understand the guy is one of the leading tacklers, a Bill Bates slobber knocker type of hitter, and someone who can pursue towards the edges just like a linebacker. No bad boy discipline issues appear to exist. So what's up? Hope you enjoy Karns basketball better than you have football.
  19. Well do the Hawks have a chance to end their season on a positive note?
  20. Well now we have the whole chorus of naysayers on board. I think I already mentioned that I didn't see the play. But if 22 ran out of bounds wouldn't the clock stop and not start until the next snap? If time elapsed while 22 was running what could the coach have done? As I mentioned earlier, there's one more game for me then I'm moving on with my life. I honestly think it would be a healthy thing for all of you if you could put some of these things in a different perspective relative to stuff that's a bit more important, like GOKARNS, what are you going to do with the rest of your life to put the talents you have to the best use for yourself and society? And BALLERET, what's your former player son going to do? I like high school athletics a lot and think they're good for kids as long as they're not taken to extreme. The Karns coaches may not be the greatest ever, but do you guys really know Derek Witt, Jay Whinery, the new Coach Thomas, Coach Snyder, Coach Cathey, or Coach Reeves? I've gotten to know most of them some and I think these men care as much about our young student athletes as any I've seen. How many hundreds of hours of volunteer work for little or no money have you given to the community lately?
  21. You did forget to mention the small detail that the scoreboard clock wasn't working and only the refs knew for sure how much time was left. From the report I got from a friend and the pictures on karnsfootball.org it appears that all 22 needed to do in order to score was to put down his shoulder and go for the end zone. Even if/when he got hit his momentum would surely have carried him in. Coach may have reacted badly but it's hard for me to see that the play was his fault. Freshman level and varsity level are two very different scenarios. I believe 1, 22, 24, 26, 83, and probably others are playing very well at the varsity level for sophomores. From past observations I believe you two can probably have a discussion that will be fruitful for you both. See you at Hardin Valley. BTW there's been some past commenting about Dees. From looking at this week's Prep Xtra stats it looks like Dees is indeed playing for the Hawks.
  22. Sort of. It got so bad so fast I got numb and can't remember. You're not going to pass are you? I wouldn't count on most of those OR fans to say much good about any aspect of the other team; they generally seem to be too busy getting offended if you don't view every aspect of their team as unparalleled!!! Here's to a good, clean, hard fought, injury free game. - I like this approach.
  23. So does AC use a 4 man front on defense? Much blitzing? Good, bad, mediocre secondary? In case any OR posters are tuned in, I hereby promise that I will not imply, declare, or attempt to provide documented facts that the AC d-line is anything but a determined, death defying, and ready-to-be-deified group of stellar young men!
  24. Mr Maximus, I thought the way a guy promoted himself on CoachT as someone with a brain was to break out some stellar football knowledge. It sounds like you've got that knowledge, but who could really tell what the heck you're talking about without a Webster's dictionary? If you were some brainiac from Oak Ridge I could understand why you might think you were so much smarter than everyone else, but for the benefit of the rest of us illiterates from Karns, Wartburg, Chucky Doak and other locations with lower average SAT scores - why don't you just say what you mean in as simple a manner as possible? Think "less syllables".
  25. My name's not "charlie" and I don't work for Starkist. I met your play-by-play guy at the game last week. Said he'd been on the job for 41 yrs. He was a lot nicer than some of you Kats on this thread. I guess he'll be having flashbacks to last year when the Dragons burn you up again Friday night. Your team is improving but I don't think the revered D will be able to stop them. On the other hand Karns will be demolishing Anderson County's other decent football team while the 'Ship is going down. Well, it sounds like a good ending anyway ............
