At least we got out on the field and played some ball. Our city isn’t run by morons.

While I disagree with not playing I don’t think it was due to idiotic leadership. For some reason we were put in this unfortunate situation in Memphis while there are other parts of this state that had teams play full 10 game seasons... I don’t understand how there are schools with full seasons played while we in Memphis (Shelby Co. Schools) couldn’t even play a quarter of football let alone a quarter of a season smdh!

    Pitcher

I can’t believe Bartlett is playing for a chance to go to State.
I can’t believe that the playoffs really have went on without us.

Furthermore I am still in disbelief and shock that my big homie kwc is no longer with us. Good luck tonight. I guess I’ll root for the Shelby Co. area school

Would like to hear from Shelby County fans regarding the statement from Superintendent Dr. Ray regarding the TSSAA

I respect Dr. Ray's thoughts and it's slick my sentiments. My fellow Whitehaven alum is tired of the constant Uncooperative ways of TSSAA and WE in Memphis would be better served playing folks in our Tri-state area, OUR OWN area and nationally where we can. Especially as it concerns Basketball. I'll hang up and listen and maybe read the full statement as I just mainly read the CA's article.

Whitehaven won't play football until Sept. 18. Will others follow?

Whitehaven, which made last year's Class 6A quarterfinals and won state titles in 2012 and 2016, will not play football games until Sept. 18, coach Rodney Saulsberry told The Commercial Appeal on Monday.

That means one of the state's most dominant programs will not play games until Week 5 of the regular season.

"Our bodies are not physically prepared to play football. Football is a collision sport," Saulsberry said. "And if you haven’t been lifting weights and been in the building to use weight equipment and all those different things, it doesn’t make sense to put your body in harm's way that way. It’s just not sensible."

The start of the high school football season is less than three weeks away, and Shelby County Schools' teams are not permitted to have contact in practices yet. SCS has not informed coaches of when they can practice with contact or whether the season will be pushed back.

There's a chance other schools might follow Whitehaven's lead and start their seasons later than the original Aug. 21 start date.

MAHS coach Cedric Miller also said that he's "probably" going to wait until September to play games, but he will wait until he hears from SCS to make a final decision. He said he was concerned about having his team play against teams from other school districts that were allowed to start earlier.

"I'm worried about the safety and the physicality," Miller said. "You don't want to put anybody's kids out there in harm's way if you don't have to. If TSSAA would have stuck with the eight games and starting the season in September, I would have been fine."

Metro Nashville Public Schools asked its schools last week not to have games until after Labor Day.

Some SCS coaches, such as Melrose's Cedrick Wilson, want to play on Aug. 21.

TSSAA's football practice regulations say that an athlete cannot be considered "conditioned" in a period of only two to three weeks, so unless SCS allows contact practices this week, teams might not be able to play on Aug 21.

"Right now we're just waiting on the (Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association), and I would really like to hear something because we're all taking the chance of getting this virus," Wilson said. "And if we're going to play, I hope that they can go ahead on and make a decision. I know it's a tough one, but we need to somehow come up with a decision."

This is why I wasn't expecting a BGIM thread @kwc

  6. Dontari Poe was a top 15 pick. He's currently with the Cowboys. Poe should have came from Whitehaven, I went to school with his older brother or cousin. However Poe graduated from Wooddale I believe.

Tony Pollard was a 3rd or 4th round pick. He's currently with the Cowboys. He came out of Melrose.

Both of these guys went to Memphis

Well this isnt baseball, .500 is not very good in football. Something to be happy about getting there. But at what point are you tired of losing for the same reason?

the 37-0 Whooping by Oakland was my last straw...

2-2 is 2-2. No reason to change the OC. You win some. You lose some.

The HC isn't going to dump the OC when the team is batting 500 in the championship game. It's not going to happen, no matter how much folk complain. Not at 500.

Idk what boosters you talk to but he's definitely closer to getting the AXE then you think...
