  1. Not real sure what there is to talk about? Heritage has played 5 good qrts of football, other than that they look terrible. They played some good football against a pretty good Hardin Valley team, and played a good firsthalf at SD, but not sure what has happened since then. Seems like everytime they get something going penelties or turnovers pop up. They have some good kids over there that play hard every down but then they also have the ones that think they are playing hard but really are not. Until they can get everybody playing hard or weed out the ones that wont play hard then they will continue to lose. This is not a one win team by no means like the record shows. The mind set is lose first and if they win thats great. I love Heritage and pull for them no matter what but what I have seen this year is a bunch that cant get it together for a full game. If they cant get up for WB then they will not get up for anyone else this season and wil finish 1-9. I hope that is not the case.
  2. All I can say is that no doubt Maryville is much better across the board, but HHS has some good tallent. This game could get out of hand but look for the Mountaineers to bring a good fight.
  3. Dont know a lot about LC? Can someone shed some light for me?
  4. HV got off to a great start last week with Bearden and HHS got off to a bad start at Jeff Co. So with that said how will this game play out? I dont know anything about HV other than they have a great running back. How is the defense and other skill players?
  5. I know its early and spring practice is just about to get started, but what will this years team be about? I know they have some very tallented returning players but do they have anything to go with the select few? From what I have heard they have been working hard in the weight room and have had some great gains. I have also heard of some new additions to the coaching staff and one returning from a year off? Anyone know who the newbees are and anything about them? Caoch Castell is the returning coach, I hope he brings back his fire and enthusiasm he had in years past. Good Luck this season Mountaineers....
  6. Some good points made. Atheletes walking the halls and not playing is a main concern. It is very true. HHS athletes at AHS, very true but you cant blame the kid for wanting to be apart of a winning program. You blame the parents for not being loyale. Alcoa has kids that never step on the field for them but could start at HHS. I guess if you want to stand and watch, get your ring and can be happy with your kid standing then thats what you should do. Good for you.... Now the HHS situation is not all that bad for next season. Some changes will need to be made to fit the athletes they do have. The O line will need to get better and they will have a hard time replacing all three line backers. All the DB's will be back and most of the D-line. Evan Brown, & Mar Gordan will be missed but can be replaced. The Cline kid is a great athlete but like was said earlier he cant do it all. Some younger kids will need to step up... All and all there is some good tallent on that team. I will predict a 6-4 year next year for the Mountaineers.......
  7. I agree, Devrin will get his but I think this one will be a good game. HHS will have a good offensive game and the defense will bend but wont break.
  8. One thing I dont understand is, how do you come into the game and run one play up the middle and then think you can throw a quick pass to the outside? (Saunders pick for a TD). HHS had not set anything up to run that play....It was easy pickens. By far the worst play calling I have ever seen by HHS coaches the entire game....Cline was the leading rusher in BC before the game but only had 5 carries the whole game. Whats up with that. How can you expect a good back to do anything without a chance? The HHS defense was on it heels the entire game. Its easy to say that it was poor planning or the lack there of by the HHS coaching staff. Yes the kids have to perform but the coaches are responsible for getting them ready.
  9. This should be a good game. Both teams have good skill people, so that means it comes down to the big boys, Who wants it the most? Heritage by 10.
  10. Speaking of the passing game. Heritage needs to find ways to get the ball into the hands of some play makers like Justin Newman, Dylan Burchfield, & Jarell Bledsoe. They are three good receivers that have not had a lot of touches. When they have got the ball good things have happened. The QB has done a good job of not turning the ball over but has missed several reads and wide open receivers. Stuff like that is fixable. The running game is there for the most part but it could be better if they could hit some of those passes. I don't think this will be as bad as some are predicting. Heritage will hold its own. If the moons are lined up just right and Heritage can get a few breaks, then who knows what will happen?
  11. Across the board Maryville has the better team but that wont keep Heritage from playing hard and competeing. Good luck to both teams and an injury free game.
  12. Heritage has about 25 Freshman kids that play with the JV squad, and have some pretty good kids in that group. As fa as Coach Russell trying to get kids to play, he has worked hard at the feeder programs talking to teams and getting the kids intrested in playing at Heritage. No matter how much a coach talks the kids have got to want to play. The halls at Heritage are full of kids that could play but until the mindset changes in that program they will stay in the halls. The only thing to change the mindset is to win football games and Brint is doing the best he can with what he has. I think Brint has done a great job in his short time here and will continue to improve this program. I also know that one thing hurting our Freshman numbers is the amount of kids from Eagleton going to Alcoa instead of Heritage. Just this year alone we lost 4 good athletes to them and that is hard to rebound from.
  13. Props to AC. Very good scrimmage for them. AC will be a tough team to handle this season for anyone. The QB is fine, he took some pretty good hits and to be a soph. I think he handled it very well. Still needs a lot of work in the passing game and also noticed he hands the ball off real high to the running backs. Things like that can be fixed. Good luck AC. Hope you all have a great season.
  14. Scrimmage has been changed to Monday night at AC instead of HHS.
  15. We have played AC three times in 7 on 7 scrimmages, and went 2-1 against them. Things change a lot when you bring in the big guys though. I think it will be a great measuring stick for both teams. Our DB's need the work against a great QB like AC has. We are starting 2 soph. at corner and our free safety is kind of green. We have pretty good size up front on both sides of the ball. What about AC, how are they doing so far?
  16. HHS and AC get to bang heads a little bit Friday night at 7pm at Heritage. Any remarks or comments on how this should turn out?
  17. Oak Ridge looks real good in the 7 on 7 scrimmages. I don't see Farragut beating them this year. The line will tell the tell?
  18. Anybody have a schedule for 7 on 7's for Heritage? I know they will be starting soon. Cant wait to see how things turn out.
  19. Hey bigearl, send your kids to Heritage. Well balanced school, great administration, and the best all around people. Do your kids play sports? If so what do they play?
  20. HC - Brint Russell Mid 30's Def Cord - Jason Hicks 30's Off. Cord & QB's - Adam Hendrix 30's O-Line - Brandon Waters 30's D-Line - Bear 20's DB's - Tyler Gaskin 20's Rec. - Edmondson 20's Student Coach - Davis Young Running Backs - Dylon Morgon - 20's O-Line has good size and pretty good athletes.
  21. Varsity was HVA-5 HHS-4. JV was HVA-1 HHS-2. Grand total 6-6. Hreitage will travel to Rhea CO. on Thursday missing several key players do to injury. Three starting lineman out with shoulder injuries. Starting LB's out one with bruised ribs, one with a pulled hamstring, and I think the starting tailback received a concussion against HV?
  22. Well, I had the pleasure of watching the first day of spring practice yesterday. Saw a lot of the returning kids and was pleased to see several new kids. The one that most stood out was a mountain of a kid, about 6'4" 320. Not sure where he came from but I sure am glad he's at Heritage. For the first practice it was very spirited and I heard a lot of pads popping. Was also glad to see a return player that played his freshman year but set out last year. He will make a instant impact. One other thing I noticed is that several of the kids have bulked up over the winter, and look much stronger.
  23. Maryville played a lot of young kids last year and did very well. I don't think they will miss a beat. GQ will always have a good team no matter how young.
  24. Well, here we are about two weeks from spring practice. I have talked to several of the kids and they seem to be very excited. I hope with all the changes from last years coaching staff they can put together a great game plan. They have a lot of holes to fill but I believe they will have the kids to to do it. Can't wait for them to get started and see what they have?
  25. It will be in May. They want to wait on the baseball kids. Should be an intresting spring, have a lot of big shoes to fill and several new coaches to break in. Congrats to the four young men that signed with Maryville College yesterday. Even Crockett, Mihn Tran, Calabe Allen and Andy Eldridge. They will be a great addition to the Maryville program. Good Luck boys.
