  1. He Did. What I meant was the people of Macon Co. are going to have to accept its coach and let him run the show. This is how they get back to being relevent again. It's more than just one man. In other words, if he has a bad year don't run him out of town..
  2. Who would believed in late October 2003 the path these programs have taken. That field goal was the best and worst thing that ever happened to Macon County. Smith Co. learned to never take any thing for granted, and the "T's" have had more coaches than UT. Smith County's offense wakes up this week and crushes Macon 35-0. it's gonna take more than a coaching change to change a culture.
  3. I'm not putting anybody down Wolverine. One of the good things about this series is the friendly banter that gville and ctown do every year. Heck, I hope the tigers do win state, (go 13-1 of course but i'm not here to put anybody down. Some of the best people in Smith Co. are tiger fans.
  4. Ah, in about three weeks, Smith County gets to hear more excuses how why Tiger High couldn't end the streak. I love how the Gordonsville faithful always rushes to "put things in perspective" or say “well Smith Co. is bigger therefore we were not expected to win.†Let’s look at some facts: 1. Plenty of smaller schools have beat Smith Co. in the past, (see York), so that holds absolutely no water whatsoever. 2. Gordonsville WILL NOT beat Carthage this year, or next for that matter. 3. Jimmy Maynard will NEVER lose to Tiger High. 4. Last year’s game was just a ploy to give the series just a little drama. 5. Gordonsville will be 0-4 going into their match-up with Monterey. a. Westmoreland (L) b. @ Smith Co. (L) c. Friendship Christian (L) d. Trousdale Co. (L) 6. If Gordonsville does not win this year, then their window of opportunity is shut for AT LEAST a decade with the talent that the Owls have coming down its pipeline. We could be talking about this record approaching Tennessee-UK territory. 7. That said, I do not hate Gordonville. I will pull for them in its other contests. However, Gordonsville fans are blinded by the certain truth that it cannot beat “Darth Maynard.†Maybe Gordonsville will end the series in a few years, and Smith Co. can start an annual series with Rankin and the F-5’s….
  5. I feel this well may be the roughest year of the Maynard era. All you have to do is look at the schedule. Week 0: @ Cheatham Co: The Owls clobbered the cubs last year, but who knows what could happen this year with the matchup being at their place. Week 1: Gordonsville: This is the G-Man’s best opportunity they have had at beating the Owls in a decade. The return a monster at RB (Woodmore), and have experience spread around at various positions, and this is the team that came a botched drive away from victory last year. If Gordonsville falls to the Owls this year, they may not have a realistic shot that defeating the Owls until the streak hits 15 or more, with all the wealth of underclassmen the Owls possess. Week 2: Livingston: From all that I am hearing, Hog-Eye appears to be the sleeper in 8-AA this year, thank God it’s at home though. Week 3: @ Westmoreland: This is where the “murder’s roll” part of the schedule begins for Smith County. The Owls lost to the Eagles in a rain-slopfest last year and I hope that is enough motivation for Smith Co. to get revenge. Week 4: @ DeKalb County: DeKalb seems to have lost some talent, but so have we. This should be an interesting match-up. Week 5: @ Macon County: The tigers always seem to give the Owls issues, even in their “down years.” This very well may be one of the toughest games on the Owls slate this season/ Week 6: Upperman: This Owls return home after a brutal stretch. Upperman always has a decent team and will be looking for an upset. Week 7: @ White House: This will be the most difficult game on the schedule. Smith County snuck away with the W last year and White House will be looking for revenge this season. Week 8: BYE Week 9: @ Cannon County: The Owls let the region championship slip away at Tech last year at the hands of the Lions. The Owls have to win this game in order to get good playoff positioning. Week 10: York: For the love of God please beat the York Dragons. Smith County botched a golden opportunity to advance to the state semi-finals on the final York drive last year. I think the streak will end this year, finally. I see the Owls coming away with at least 8 wins, however, this season will be a slugfest. Tighten your seatbelt Owl fans!!
  6. Just wondering..will this be a rebuilding year or reloading year for the Owls? Will there be any changes? What about the schedule?
  7. looks like York didn't get that fitty laid on em' after all. Looking forward to see "uns" again next year, season's greetings..
  8. lol better get on it lol...i may take some shots at york but it's all in good taste. The game tonite was an instant classic and i was glad i attended, regardless of the outcome
  9. LOL it was a good game i am not dening that. We held the lead for most of the game. York took it from us at end. Yall beat us, good job. However, York's pompous celebrations will be short lived when Milan stomps a mud hole in your horse and buggies.
  10. LOLOL and yours will be next week. Have a good thanksgiving!!!
  11. and i would much rather have Maynard over Brown anyday of the week. Sure he may have lost to York the past five times, but you see we have respect around the mid-state. At least we are not seen as a bunch of traveling circus clowns.. If your not respected, then your irrelvant. And after Milan lays fitty on ya, YAI will go back to being that school on the corner of nowhere and who cares.
  12. LOL i hate to break it to my peppermint patties but Milan will NAME their score (and I also hate to break it to you but they don't give out golden footballs for 3rd place) You may have beat Carthage but at least we are sparred being the laughing stock of the mid-state when you venture out to west tennessee and the bulldogs lay fi-tty on the Yorkies. Have a nice day.
  13. and you enjoy Milan laying Fitty on ya Dragons...
  14. Milan, you can start packing your bags for Cookeville..York you might as well keep those horses in the stable this week..no need to for them to gallop 4 hours + to west Tennessee
