  1. Did East Hamilton improve or was Rhea County down? Rhea County did not look good in the trenches and seemed to lack fire and intensity. I am an East Hamilton fan but feel this team is not as strong as last years. I think by the end of the season they can be but there is just not enough varsity game experience among this group. We have a lot of potential with the addition of this sophomore class but they will have to learn quickly. Luckily for us it looks like are entire district is down this year and that will really help. I am still looking to see who will step up and take the leadership role with this group. A couple had a good play or two Friday night but it is not one play that defines a leader but how they play the entire game and taking no plays off. I think your team has also lost alot of leadership with graduation but I have also seen several of your guys step up already. I think we should be more concerned with this years QB more than Hogan. Hogan was a passing threat but your new guy is a double threat and I think he will put up some impressive numbers before this year is done. This Friday nights game should be very interesting and I am hoping that our Canes will make it worth our trip up the mountain. I know they have been working hard and now they must learn how to become a cohesive group and take that next step. And unlike BEASTYBOY, our Heritage scrimmage concerned me a little. We have depth but not experience.
  2. Even though East Hamilton looks like a large school by enrollment numbers, you have to remember that it is BOTH middle and high school in the same building. They will not have a full high school class until this years Sophomores become Seniors. There is talk of having another rezoning to shift kids back to Ooltewah, but with the lack of athletic facilities at East Hamilton I am sure some will enroll in Ooltewah anyways. Also, Ooltewah has made some huge improvements starting with their new principal and his upbeat style versus what they had. Unless Hamilton County can come up with additional funding they may stop busing for high school. I don't think that will actually happen but there is talk of that as well.
  3. Allen definitely plays at a different level. Thank goodness they only have one of him. His HR last night over the right field fence was all wrist. Not many people could have done that with a low outside curve ball. Unfortunately we did not have our mental game on last night as we gave up the first four runs on errors. I do think our district has it setbacks in having a few weak baseball teams. That really messes up the batters when the ump has to widen the strike zone hugely to get the game over. It was nice to see the support of several Red Bank and Ooltewah players at the game last night. As rowdy as the East Hamilton and Red Bank fans get at the games against each other the truth of the matter is the kids are enjoying the competition, complete with many of the seniors from both teams having dinner together afterwards. Now we just need to get our game back on as we take on Dekalb Co. Being on the road is nothing new to this team, after all, they do not have a home field.
  4. Well it looks like we will continue to have a great series against each other. We only started four and sometimes five of our seniors this year. The bulk of our returners will be juniors next year and several freshmen this year have gotten a lot of varsity play time. Sounds like the next few years should be interesting.
  5. Yes they are big, believe it or not that is one of our obstacles. Too many big guys and only so many holes to put them in. You are also correct about some of their swings being different. The kid you referred to by number has been one of our top hitters since the school started. Also leads the team in HR's and RBI's. He had been the leading hitter on the team up until one bad game last week. Luckily for us, some other guys stepped up and had a big game. Then you go down the line-up and you have the "mashers" and "slingers." The mashers hit it hard and you better be awake and the slingers somehow find a way to make the ball drop in areas where players are not. Depending on the coaches line-up, we can be solid through the ninth batter. The future also looks bright as we lose six seniors but have two of the varsities HR leaders on the bench waiting for their chance to shine in full time roles. With Red Bank graduating nine seniors that have been the heart and soul of their team for the past three years, I think it would be safe to say that we will be the team to beat from District 6. I was impressed with you alls depth in hitters and especially your top two batters as well as the speed of #20. That "white boy" can fly!!! Your pitcher was one of the best we have faced and I was amazed that he never got shaken. That kid has a bright future. Overall, I thought Sequoyah had a very solid and disciplined team. The officials were not as bad as what we have had this year but I don't see how they blew that double play ball catch last night. Luckily, they did not decide the fate of the game. The guy behind the plate seamed to have a floating strike zone, but at least he was consistently doing it on both teams. Just curious, what is the depth of your field in the corners and center? I thought both teams hit a few bombs that would have gone out on an average size high school field.
  6. The Allen kid is a solid pitcher. I was impressed with how well he stayed focused even after giving up a three run bomb in the first. The fact that it did not shake him shows he has what it takes to pitch at the next level. The kid also has a good pick off move and is a solid base runner as well. I would like to know where this kid will be playing his college ball.
  7. East Hamilton 4 Sequoyah 2 Polk 11 Red Bank 3 The guy who said EH can't hit.. just keep thinking that way. We love it.
  8. I had Red Bank picked at the beginning of the season but they have proved to have too much attitude problems to be able to play consistent ball. Howard is my pick to win the District 6AA tournament with Tyner coming in second. As far as the best in Chattanooga, Ooltewah still has to be ranked in one of the top three places. There recent losses come with a starter on the bench for discipline reasons.
  9. Glad to see you all got the win... especially in Cleveland. I have never seen a larger horses rear for a coach (Cleveland's coach) in my twenty years of watching basketball in East Tennessee.
  10. Ooltewah and Red Bank are on top presently.
  11. Looks like you all did well to come back and beat McCallie. I know Chad Lee would have been a difference maker for McCallie and being out hurt did not help them any. However, looks like Tyner made the adjustments needed to pull together as a team and get the job done. Red Bank beat a team looking in a new direction with their leading scorer transferring to another school and a new coach coming at the helm. However, when you can score 96 points in a ball game, you are doing something. We face Red Bank on Dec 3rd and I can tell already that we are going to have to step up our game to be competitive with them. We beat a makeshift team from Signal Mountain last night and did not look very good in the first half. But the second half was a different story as we came out on fire and left them in the dust. Really looking forward to our games with Tyner, Howard and Brainerd this year to see how much we have improved.
  12. You mean #5 didn't graduate? That kid looked like he should be playing college ball last year. He had such an impressive alley-oop dunk against us last year when we played at Howard that our entire stands stood up and cheered.
  13. I think in some sports this may be close to the truth because of needing so many players and depth like in football and wrestling. However, in basketball you can go a long ways with just four or five quality players. Just look at the smaller college teams that make it to the Sweet 16 while knocking off the big boys. It is talent, coaching and heart that makes a good team, not the size of the school.
  14. Where is TynerRamFan and T-Mac? Is there not anyone from Region 3 District 6AA that knows anything about their team this year?
  15. There is a great site that shows the stats of many of the high school teams and I have tried to post it but this text editor keeps eliminating my link. The site starts with max and ends with preps. You can do a leaderboard search to find all categories. You just need to ignor the seniors since the stats are from last year.
  16. I think on paper with returners Nick Ross and Kelvin Clay that Red Bank will have the upper hand on winning the district. Hixson will have Randy Boyd and Central will have Von Bell and Matthew Short. Tyner has their high powered point guard (can't remember his name), Brainerd has point guard Jalen Stallion and Howard was loaded last year but not sure who all graduated and who is left. Then their is the East Schools, Ham and Ridge. East Hamilton will finally have seniors and hopefully with a year of playing together they will be more competitive. East Ridge has a freshman (Eddie) who lit it up in middle school but will he be able to make waves at the high school level. Let's hear it... 1. Red Bank 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. I will finish my prediction once I hear who all is coming back.
  17. I hope TYNER has their best game of the season and WINs BIG! Remember Tyner fans... you DON'T have to pay to park when you go to Polk County.
  18. The ball was snapped to the up back and then they ran a power sweep to the left. Purely a called play.
  19. Yep... it is true. I know for myself and everyone sitting around me thought what a Classless act. It is a shame because his team played a great game. We were even impressed with the circle prayer before the game with both teams fans. I think this coach might have benefited from joining in the prayer and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Our team was without several of our top players including our top running back and we lost our starting QB in the first half. I believe there was only a little over a minute left in the third quarter when it happened.
  20. Here are my thoughts: • First and second place teams go regardless of record and regardless of the over district strength. • I think that even though a team has a losing record you need to veiw their losses. For example: if East Hamilton were to make the playoffs(would have to win out) they would still have a losing record. However, their losses include Signal Mtn who is ranked in the top of their division and Lancaster who is not TSSAA and is allowed to pick up stud players who can not play anywhere else under the TSSAA rules. It would have been easier for East Ham to have played some cream puff teams just to have a winning record. Of course their other losses come by way of Tyner and Howard, each ranked and respected teams in their division. • Because the TSSAA takes the top 32 teams, their is a chance that several of the bottom teams will have losing records so you have to choose someone.
  21. Yes there is another game not shown on the list. East Hamilton vs East Ridge will be tonight at Finley Stadium. East Hamilton does not have a field yet and are having to play all their home games at Finley. Because they were told they would have a home field ready they scheduled the normal Friday night games but when the county government tied up the progress they were forced to move their games and the only night availalbe were Thursday's. Not sure why the other games listed are being played tonight.
  22. Since it appears everyone is throwing in their two cents, I will throw in mine... and I am sure two cents is more than it is worth. You are correct about Red Bank not being chosen in the Top Ten, as far as that goes, all the talk I heard about Red Bank during preseason was that they would be simply BAD this year because of graduating all the starters. However, Red Bank has been nothing less than over achievers this season given what experience they had coming back. I have seen them play twice and both times looked a little dysfunctional, and yes I know dysfunctional as I have pulled for East Hamilton for the past year and a half. Regardless of the fact, Red Bank has done what it has taken to win some tough games. As far as basketball goes, you may want to go see a few games this year. I think Red Bank will be the team to beat. They have one of the best returning players in the state with Nick Ross. He is something special and can really light it up from just about any spot on the court. As far as Tyner and Howard goes, I have seen a few weaknesses but I have also seen enough heart and natural talent to over come the few weaknesses. As long as they play like RamTrainFan says... one game at a time, they have the opportunity to compete with any 3A team in the state. (After all nobody thought South Carolina could beat Alabama) I will go as far to say that Tyner will beat Howard this year but I also know it will be a slugfest. I believe the team that makes the least amount of turnovers and penalties will win that game. No matter who goes to the playoffs from 3A and 4A from Chattanooga, I will pull for them and wish them luck. And as soon as basketball season starts, I will be there as well, cheering for my Canes and enjoy watching all the area talent. We definitely have some of the best basketball talent in the state. Look for the Canes to shine this year in basketball, they had a great summer camp and are finally starting to gel as a team. We don't have a Nick Ross from RB or a Tevin(?) from Tyner, but our boys are playing well as a team. (Based on Summer Camp)
  23. Not sure how I missed your predictions for this week but I just saw them and like that you are giving the Canes a little respect. Hopefully we can live up to your prediction and celebrate Senior night with a big "W". Still not sure how Hixson did what they did to East Ridge but I sure hope we can follow suit. From what I have seen of Central, I think if the Ram Train can contain with their defensive ends, it will be a long night for the Pounders. Hope their punter eats his Weaties. As the season draws to the final weeks, the match ups seem to get more interesting for the 4A teams. Go Canes!
  24. Easy there Beasty... I think we will be doing good to win 2 out of the 3. Yes, we have the team that can run the distance but we must overcome spotting good teams so many points. Until we quit missing tackles in the backfield and giving up the big play, we will continue to play from behind. In all of our losses, Lancaster, Tyner and now Howard, we have had what should have been tackles for a big losses turn in to long run touchdowns. We need to jump out early and have a big first quarter, and not give up any big plays right off the bat, that is what we have failed to do so far this year against the good teams. Our offense is doing MUCH better with the senior at the wheel, not sure why he wasn't there to start with. Nothing would be better making the playoffs in only our second year of competition.
  25. I agree with both you and RamFan. I am just hoping we will be competitive and make it a great game with no more players getting hurt. We will actually get a few back this week but I am sure they are not back at 100% yet. I have never been to a football game at Howard, what should we expect for parking and concessions T-Mac? BTW... I was most impressed with yall's basketball program last year out of all the teams. Your head basketball coach is a class act and has great control over his players. For us being a new school with a fairly dysfunctional bunch of players because of all the different schools they came from and never having played together, I thought your coach showed a great deal of respect in the way he pulled in the reigns on his players and kept them playing with good sportsmanship.
