  1. ...and the fact that they did it without their starting QB and several other key players because of the suspension from the brawl with South Pitsburg made it even more amazing. It is rare to see a safety... but three safeties in the first half? Kind of an odd game to watch. Both teams basically tried to out run the other to the sideline on every play. This was my second time to see Red Bank, the first was against a lack luster Boyd team, neither game did they look very impressive... or at least like the teams you are use to seeing from that high school.
  2. Wow... where to start. I guess I will start with the "Still Young" part. We have many Sophomores that are playing in key positions, last year they were freshmen playing in key positions. I can honestly say... no disrespect to yours or any other programs we have played to date... WE have been our own worse enemy. MISSED tackles for loss. MISSED holes with running backs. MISSED receivers who are wide open and never even looked at. Just plain MISSED opportunities that you have to take advantage of in order to compete in this district. Next year will most likely be another tough season as we will only have nine returning players who will be Seniors, but all the returning sophomores that will be juniors will help. But... in TWO years, our current Freshmen squad who are dominating on the grid-iron will be Juniors and we will have a great core of solid players and depth. We should be contenders for the District Championship that year, NO EXCUSES. As far as your second and third string players scoring... they should have scored, we still had our starting players on the field and MOST of them had gone two ways the entire game. Many of us would have loved to have seen some of the back ups getting some late game reps. I believe they might have fared better. As far as having our own home field to play on, what a joke. You can't get anything accomplished with this school system and it will most likely be several more years before we ever play a game at our own school. I say... park some trucks on the hill, shine the headlights on the practice field and play ball. At least that way we can have a home game. BTW... if you think it is annoying to hear it, try living it!
  3. Battle of the Bottom? Really? Come now TynerRamFan... we just made a considerable contribution to your cause last Friday night as your concession stand ran out of many items due to our large fan base and their refreshment needs. Your Rams will probably be sporting new uniforms next season after our contribution last year and our homecoming game this year. Your comment would be correct for last year but this year we already have a district win against Brainerd. And the coaches made a nice change at a key position last week where we have struggled and now our offense is moving in the right direction. We still have way too many young players having to step up due to being a new school but they are making some strides. Come now RamFan... show us a little respect. After all, our game with you all was a harder fought game than the final score showed. I believe your last two scores came in the last two minutes of the game.
  4. So why will they be so much stronger after Christmas than before? SM opens up with EH in a Hall of Fame game. Can't wait to see some round ball.
  5. But then again, Tyner could be fired up to make sure they have a good showing for a larger crowd. I think the Rams overpower the Pioneers but not before Chase Steele gets his six points for East Ridge. The last score for East Ridge will be late in the game against Tyner's future stars. Tyner 40 East Ridge 13
  6. You are right EH does have that many students when you include the middle school which shares the same building. Our team is still young as over 2/3's of the team is sophomores. And you are right, the game is played on the field and I hope we reschedule the Home and Away with you all again.
  7. Scott Parrott - Soddy Daisy Current Cleveland High QB - Extended Chattanooga Area The last Woods' kid that played QB at Ooltewah (not sure if he was within the last 5 year period or not)
  8. No... coaching is fine for the most part. We just do not have a consistant passing game and do much better with the run. Our offensive line has been very strong and our running game has been our strength. We still have a very young running back core but they are getting better with each game. I am sure the coaches thought we would surprise Lancaster by coming out throwing from our passing set but it is just too inconsistant. As far as what we should be doing, I would have to say... RUN, RUN and RUN. This takes time off the clock and allows us to keep the other teams offense off the field and keeps a young team in the game. One thing that most people back here may not know about our last game is that Lancaster is not TSSAA and picked up 5 senior players from Hillsboro (So I am told). They do not have to sit out since they are not TSSAA. Their main player, #1, is a real stud and gives whatever team he is on an advantage.
  9. Good job showing how overrated McCallie is this year. They are NOT the McCallie power we have seen in the past. I still can't believe you guys lost to Whotewah. You all clearly had more talent but failed to pull it together. We had a very disappointing loss Friday night as we lost that game in the first three minutes of play. Hope the coaches study the film and stay away from starting the game with a formation that has not been successful for us. See you Friday at Finley, looking for a better game than last year. GO CANES!!!
  10. After watching Red Bank play Boyd the other night I have to go with East Ridge. Red Bank did not look like the teams of the past. They had to rely on the roll out sling the ball long and high and hope that their receiver can out jump the defensive back and catch it. It worked against Boyd but Boyd is really down this year. I think Chase Steele will be the difference in this game. My prediction: East Ridge 20 Red Bank 12
  11. It would be nice to keep it closer than last year for sure. Our freshman team looks really strong and they have a good QB so it does look like East Hamilton will be in contention in a few more years. Until then we will just have to see who on our varsity is ready to step up and be the on-field leader (on both sides of the ball). After seeing Ooltewah's dismantling of Tyner, their is hope that a lesser experienced team can pull off the big upset. Noticed that the kid who got hurt in the pool incident was on the football team according to the paper. Hopefully he will make a full recovery. Go Canes! ....No Excuses!
  12. Have not seen many of my brethren on here yet this fall but I know they will show up soon. This years team features a much improved offensive line but we still are struggling at the QB position. Not sure why the senior QB is not getting the reps but oh well, it is what it is. I look for this game to be closer than last year but we still have way TOO many youngsters starting in key positions. At least this year they are sophomores instead of freshmen. Looking for a CLEANER game this year. Hopefully both teams will come away with all their starters in tact.
  13. All the people, mainly women, who are crowded around you and want to talk about everything under the sun EXCEPT the game. And to beat it all, they normally have the best seats. Then it would have to be the kids/students who are there just for the social aspect and keep coming to mom and dad for money.
  14. TynerRamFan, you can leave those fish sandwiches at home because there will be plenty of F_OWL sandwiches to go around. Their beloved Benny left them high and dry. Should be an eazy victory but don't get to use to it, their new coach will have them back on top in a couple of years.
  15. The Canes have one of the most dangerous batting line-ups in Region 3 AA. I would say that 8 of their 9 are as good as there is around these parts. I would hate to face this line up as a pitcher. I think this group of talented young men will do well come tournament time. They may not get beyond the Region but they have a lot to brag about for a first year program with no seniors. Garland will really have a strong team in a couple of years because of all the experience he has given to this years freshman class... including two freshman starters on varsity. These guys just keep getting better.
  16. Glock... who was the better team between Hixson and East Ridge? Since they split you would think they were evenly matched, but reading how the games went, I would think Hixson may be the better team between the two. Are these two teams making mental mistakes or does it look like they just need more basic skills reps? Have either played Red Bank or Central in a scrimmage and if so, what was the outcome?
  17. Tuesday night was good for the Canes but they did not get the kind of games they needed to develop as a team at this point in the season. Lots of guys got action and that was good, but I really would have liked to have seen Tyner not make so many basic errors that took them out of the game so early. Tonight we should see a better team than Tyner in Chattanooga Christian, but from what I am hearing they too are struggling at the beginning of this season. Look forward to seeing how different guys step up and play tonight. I was really impressed with the play of the freshmen second baseman the other night. He made several great heads up plays.
  18. When was the last time you heard that it was the players who were bad instead of the umps? Sounds like Hixson's Pitcher is a stud.
  19. From what I have seen, even with all the players who are hurt, they still have some good young talent. I don't think this will be a team that will dominate from the mound and they will have to play and win as a team. I like Garland's method of instilling respect and playing small ball. Nothing worse then watching a bunch of guys trying to hit it out of the park at each at bat. This team will win because of inning to inning play and not relying on one player to carry the load from the mound. Can't wait till tonight's doubleheader.
  20. Agree. I think the Wildcats will win this one as well. Go Canes!
  21. Well I know first hand what Tyner is capable of doing. Extremely good guard play, a big guy that is a gentle giant but a solid shooter/rebounder and THE MOST OVERLOOKED PLAYER in the state in Gilmore. That guy comes to play every game. Tyner seems to like to start a little slow and then they play like lights out. You can pick your poison with this team. Leave the three open... they'll berry it, let them on the inside... forget stopping them there, foul them and send them to the line... well... they don't miss many free opportunities. All I can say is you better bring your A game and then sit back and enjoy the show. Best games I have seen all year have been between Tyner and Howard. Both from the same district and both still in the hunt for the gold ball. This Hurricane fan is picking Tyner!
  22. The young East Hamilton Hurricanes. I also enjoyed the Region Championship game played at our place. It was so loud at the floor level the kids were yelling to their teammates in order to communicate. Now that is how the atmosphere is suppose to be.
  23. I would love to see Howard play. Wish it were closer to here. My fondest memory this year is Howard's #3 making a bad ally-oop pass to #5 and #5 reaching back and slamming it home at Howard when we played them at their location. Could not help but stand up and clap, even though they did it to my boys. Howard looks more like a Junior college team instead of a high school team. They are tough!
  24. ...Looks like District 6-AA took out the brooms tonight...Sweeeep!!! Looks to me like you all took them behind the woodshed before sweeping up the floor. Good luck and I hope you all can win the big one. Tyner and Howard are in a league of their own this year.
