  1. I'm sure everyone is just as excited as me to see a kickoff tonight! I'm hoping to get a representative from each school in the district to text me some score updates throughout games tonight and the rest of the season. I announce for Whitwell and I was thinking it would be a nice addition to throw out some scores from around the district during time outs and end of quarters. This is extremely last minute and I also just realized my subscription has run out... so I can't personal message. If I have any takers, let me know by either replying to this post or hit me up on facebook @ Josh Yawn (https://www.facebook.com/josh.yawn.7) and I'll trade #'s. Appreciate anyone willing to help!
  2. Well I certainly hope that Clarkrange is having more of an off night than a good night lol. Obviously I would love to see the Tigers win and will be pulling for them, but as long as it's a great game I will be happy. There's nothing like a packed out gym with both sides rocking during a close game with something big on the line.
  3. devilfanatic has a few points here. Whitwell beat VanBuren early in the season and then lost to them towards the end of the season. They did the same with Sale Creek, win early lose late. There has definitely been some inconsistency at points this season for Whitwell. However, Whitwell has really stepped it up as of late. Whitwell lost to VanBuren by a few points back on 02/04/13 but then beat them by 13 when it really mattered to play in the Region 3 Championship game. Then they played Silverdale in the Region Final and shocked a lot of Silverdale fans. Most everyone other than Whitwell fans just knew Silverdale had this one in the bag. They have a big time player and just knew she would lift Silverdale to an easy win. Besides, Silverdale had just whipped up on Sale Creek who had beaten Whitwell twice this year.... not so. Whitwell wins by 24 over Silverdale. So yes, it does worry me that Whitwell has been somewhat inconsistent at points during the regular season, but in basketball a big factor in winning big games is getting hot at the right time. That seems to be exactly what Whitwell has done. Assuming they will still play hot I dont see this being a far apart as devilfanatic predicts. Sure, Clarkrange has a great coach with a lot more hardware than Coach Zenson has.... yet. I promise you this though, Coach Z. is as good of a coach as any out there. Zenson hasn't been around a really long time and already has his Tigers teams looking better than any in the past, literally. So I'm not putting anything past either coach. I think they both know exactly what to do to win. And I totally disagree that if the Tigers won it would be the biggest shocker ever. Just ask someone from the teams Whitwell has played from that region the past few years. The Lady Tigers dont roll over and give up. It's always a hard fought game. Like I said before, I'm not going to consider a loss or a win a shock either way. This will be a close game.
  4. Seeing we have multiple threads going with some chatter about this game I thought I would start one up just for this match. As the typical case goes, I'm sure most will see the Region 3A champs as underdogs against the Region 4A runner up. This may be the case in all honesty, but I certainly wouldn't look past Whitwell if I were Clarkrange. Whitwell always plays their opponents tough as they did the past two years. I've said this in another thread but I'll say it again here. I wont be shocked if the Tigers lose this game, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Tigers won this game either. I think most people are going to be surprised at how close this game turns out no matter which team wins. Whitwell has lost some games earlier in the season that they should have been able to win hands down but here over the past couple weeks they've really stepped up and played how they should. They got revenge against VanBuren winning 60-47 to advance to the Region 3A finals, and then humbled Silverdale (who most people thought had this in the bag) 65-41 to win the Region for the second year in a row. The Tigers really got hot at exactly the right time and I know they'll be ready to play Saturday night and expect to win. The big question now is will Clarkrange come to Whitwell prepared to play a good team, or will they be looking forward to State a little too early. Silverdale can preach a little on overlooking a decent team.
  5. Could be... Lady Tigers lost at home last year to Clay Co. by 21 after falling behind towards the end. Then again, their a little unpredictable this year. I've watched them lose games I was sure they would win and they've pounded some teams that should have been close. Like I said, it's never a good idea to underestimate anyone. I personally dont expect a loss by 30 points. Region 4 is typically a much stronger basketball area so I wouldn't be completely shocked at a loss. However, I wouldn't be completely shocked if Whitwell got a win. I have a feeling this game is going to be much closer than most people will suspect no matter which side wins.
  6. Sliverdale who? Whitwell just beat Silverdale to win Region 3A for the second year in a row. Whitwell got revenge on VanBuren with a 60-47 win to send them to Region 3A finals where they took down Silverdale 65-41 last night. Never a good idea to underestimate any team. Looks like Clarkrange will be coming down to Whitwell Saturday night. Should be a fun game.
  7. Just wanted to hear everyone's thought about 6A this year. I know it's still really early but hopefully most teams have had a chance to face some decent competition once or twice already. I haven't got a look at anyone in the district other than Whitwell so far. They won the district and region last year and look to be about as good this year. They dont seem to be quite as explosive on offense, but very close to it. Defensively they look as good as before... In my opinion anyway. They still seem a little bit young and need to work on putting together a solid performance for an entire game. Overall I think Whitwell will continue to look almost the same as last season. How about everyone else....?
  8. as of right now both teams are only touting 1 victory from this season.... after tonight one of these teams will have 2 victories. Before last week I would have given the slight advantage to the Indians, but after seeing the Tigers play hard for an entire game, and an excellent first half, against the SP Pirates I can't help to feel like the Tigers have the upper hand tonight. I'm sure hoping so anyway...
  9. I dont think there was anything fishy about it.... I think they were going to try to rely on their RB's mostly and let the young guy develop this year. He is either Freshman or Sophomore. Havis is clearly better at this point but still not where you want your QB to be. I think the whole idea made sense for the long term but it finally came down to them having to go back to Havis b/c the running game isn't enough to carry the offense.
  10. Jashawn has arrived!!!! ... Honestly I'm excited about the game tonight, but it's more of a general football excitement. I think everyone on both sides of the field knows what to expect out of tonights game. Whitwell just seems to always lack all the pieces to the puzzle. I can say that they finally put Havis back at QB last week and I could clearly see an improvement in the balance of the offense but it's still not "really good" by any means. I hate talking bad about my team but it's just the way it is. The Tigers just haven't had enough talent for so many years. We'll have a few really good guys out there but not enough to play as one whole "good" team. I finally like our head coach and think he's got a really good idea of how to run this team, but I'm frustrated that he can't really do a lot with what he's got. Dont get me wrong, I'm not bashing the players. It's not that I think they just aren't good, because some of them are really good (especially our RB's), we just dont have the numbers plus the talent. Anyway, I'm getting too negative here.... Official predition... SP 64 WHS 0 Whitwell will get discouraged after a few scores and it will get ugly.... Here's to hoping I'm wrong
  11. Not sure who picked the helmets out.... Kind of a shocker when you see it for the first time. Props to MC on the win. They played hard nosed football the whole game. I thought the game would have been a little closer considering the score at the half but I dont think Whitwell had enough man power to keep it up down the stretch. I honestly didn't think either team looked great. I think each team has a few good players but lack in other areas... obviously whitwell's strenght is the McHone brothers running the ball. They can run. MC was kind of the same way... Zeman (hope I spelled right) could run it all night. Both teams seem to be lacking in QB skills for one reason or another and defense for both teams seems ok. I thought it was a pretty fun game until Whitwell slowed down towards the end. Hopefully the tigers pick themselves back up and are ready for a home game next week.
  12. Thanks. That's what I figured but wanted to make sure.
  13. I think he was reffering to South Pitt
  14. ok.... I've got to figure out why so many people are so confident in MC for this game. I just now looked at MC's schedule from this year so far and they beat Gruny by 1 point and Bledsoe by 1 point. Grundy just got beat up by SP... Bledsoe only won their first game by 1 point against Cumberland Co... who by the way has had a losing record every year since 2002. I'm not saying MC can't win this game but I'm just surprised at how many people think they can run away with this game considering they've barely won their first two against teams that dont seem to have proven anything at all yet.
