  1. Id like to know if anyone else is planning on driving to the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio in January. If enough people are going maybe we can pool on renting a van and share some travel costs and driving responsibilities. Thanks! Marcus "Doc" Holliday
  2. I have to correct you on this one my friend. Southwind didn't beat Fairley. Coach Miller is a good coach and will be successful at Southwind but they didn't "beat" Fairley. Marcus Holliday DID NOT scrimmage against Southwind or against Ridgeway and Kingsbury. The coaches decided to hold him out the entire weekend. Im not sure who you were looking at because Im his father and he was standing right next to me the entire weekend. As for James Harmon...he played extremely well and played great defense in addition to picking off a couple of passes during the course of the weekend. Coach Miller is doing a great job over at Southwind and Coach Slocum is doing an outstanding job as well. I wish both of my family members great success this upcoming season. And you're right...Fairley didn't display it's entire arsenal BUT they will soon enough. Good luck to everyone!!
  3. No problem my friend! John P. Freeman is located at the intersection of Holmes and Tulane Roads. If you get on I-55 South get off on the Whitehaven exit headed right. There are 2 exits. One says Whitehaven/Capleville, you don't want that one. The other says Whitehaven, go right. The first light you get to will be Millbranch rd.. Make a left at that light, Millbranch. Take Millbranch to Holmes Rd (about a mile down). There will be a gas station on the right corner. That's Holmes. Make a right on Holmes. Head all the way down about 2 miles. You'll cross over Elvis Presley Blvd. Cross over railroad tracks. John P. Freeman will be on your left. Have a safe trip!
  4. Obion Central fans: First let me begin by saying congratulations on your playoff berth. We, Fairley fans, look forward to a very good and competitive contest at John P. Freeman Friday night. I know alot has been said and been written about Memphis and Memphis crime but you all don't have much to worry about. Most of the Fairley fans as well as the people of the Whitehaven community are very respectable and law-abiding citizens. There have never been any problems with fans from out of town coming to watch a football contest at J.P. Freeman. The only time we expect trouble is when Fairley plays Whitehaven, but that only amounts to trash-talking. I know many of you may feel cause for concern because of the reputation Memphis has but I hope you all can come and enjoy yourselves without worrying about being harmed. The fact of the matter is that it boils down to race. African-Americans have concerns when we travel to predominantly white, small, rural towns too but we come and try not to prejudge. There were at least 6 Obion Co. coaches at last Friday's Fairley-Hillcrest game and they didn't have any trouble at all. They stayed until the end and saw a very good game. Please try not to prejudge too much. Look forward to seeing many of you Friday night. God Bless!! Fairley Bulldogs........MY ALMA MATER!!!!
  5. Mr. BlackHaven Senator! First of all I would like to say congratulations to Whitehaven for their win on Friday night BUT to you my man. You're talking about my son not being humble and I know how I raised my son and I know what type of young man he is, I take offense to that. You're name calling a 15 year old boy but you're hiding behind this Blackhaven Senator moniker. I apologize it has taken me so long to respond but I'm just logging back on the site. My man I'm sure you know me and how I look. Come see me brother. You're trash talking my SON and you're an adult. I'll find out who you are and I will introduce myself to you. Thats a PROMISE. I'm not going to go back and forth trash talking on this site because it's pointless. You can say whatever you like as you hide behind this computer monitor and try to down young men. I'm proud of my son. I love my son. He is a very humble and respectful young man. You're trying to put out negative impressions about my son and you're wrong so I'll see you partner. I'll unmask you then we can get to know one another. This post is from Showtime9 but I'm Marcus "Doc" Holliday I. I'll see you soon!!!
  6. It's funny you bring that up because I was just talking about the same thing yesterday. John P. Freeman is not a big enough venue for a game of this magnitude. It really should always be played at Whitehaven because of the interest in this game. Me being a Fairley product, I always considered Whitehaven one of my home fields anyway. John. P. Freeman is small and it's down in a hole. We, Fairley, do like being considered the home team but I think if we played at Whitehaven we would still have to line up on the visitor's side even if we were the "home" team. Let's just hope and pray everything goes well tonight with the crowd. We know the fans cause the most problems and distractions, more so than the players. The players may talk but it's just that....talk. Hugs afterwards. Lets be safe and play some good, clean, football.
  7. You are exactly right DannyQ! There is nothing but love between Fairley and Whitehaven. Despite what's said. How can you not root for and hope the best for a group of young black men, future leaders and role models, to do well in any aspect of life? I'm looking forward to a very exciting and spirited football game tonight. Whitehaven has some great players and some great young men. Fairley has some great players and some great young men. Of course Whitehaven people want Whitehaven to win. Of course Fairley people want Fairley to win. We have to learn to put this game in perspective. Its a battle between two schools less than a mile from one another. It's a wonderful thing. I love it and I'm excited about tonight. Let's enjoy the game and enjoy each other's company in the hole at John P. Freeman tonight.
  8. This is in response to BlackHavenSenator's remark about Fairley running back Marcus Holliday being a Whitehaven reject. Marcus transferred from Whitehaven not because he couldn't play there, but because Fairley is MYschool and that's where my heart lies. Whitehaven has a very good football team BUT so does Fairley. Marcus was 2nd on the depth chart behind Tony Jefferson in the spring and rightfully so because Tony Jefferson is a very good running back. I look forward to a very good and competitive football game Friday night. Both schools respect each other and it's a very healthy neighborhood rivalry. I myself played for Fairley in the 90's and I always loved going against Whitehaven. Not because I hated them but because they were a good team and alot of my friends from OUR 'hood of the Whitehaven community played there. Be easy on the name calling my man and just enjoy some great athletes from OUR 'hood of Whitehaven competing for bragging rights. It'll be nothing but hugs and mutual respect regardless of the outcome. Just like it always has been. I'm proud of my son and I'm proud of my team Fairley High aka South Fairley!! Go Bulldogs!!! Doc Holliday
