  1. I love rivalry games cause it brings out the crazies cheering for their team. I am sure that Coach Crane at Lebanon is preparing his players for Friday night, just as coach Dedman is. The fact that one team is 4-0 and the other is 0-4 is what makes this game so much fun to talk about. It would be a shock if Lebanon pulled off an upset, it would also be a shock if Central ran the score up on Lebanon intentionally. Lebanon does have a young team and Central has been there before. To say that Wilson Central has never been good is just plain ignorant. As I recall WC has made the playoffs on a couple of different occasions in the past and have had several very good players go on to play on Saturdays in college. For a school that is only 11 years old thats pretty good. Lebanon has had its share of success in the past as well, the 60's and the late 80's early 90's. Unfortunately for Lebanon most of the talk is about how much boosters and old players don't like the HC. It took Dedman and his coaching staff three years to get the program moving in the direction its in currently so how about you get behind the HC or just get the heck out of his way and let the man do the job he was hired to do. I remember all the saturday morning arm chair daddy's and mommies over at WC when Aric was the head coach and how some of them chirped the last two years as Dedman was trying to build this program and instill some new traditions and new attitudes. Maybe if you would remember this is a game being played by 14-18 year olds and teach them to respect what the coaches are trying to do your young players wil develop the right attitude. I hope Coach Crane finds success at Lebanon and wins some games just not this Friday night when he faces the Wildcats/Kitties. I don't mind the haters calling us Kitties gladefan they look so sweet and innocent from a distance but just ask the first four opponents we have played this year these Kitties have claws and aren't afraid to use them. Bring on the BDP pride the new jumbo tron and all the hype cause at 7:00pm friday night all the talking by us talking heads will be over and the boys will settle this one between the lines. I for one can't wait!!!!!!!!
  2. Coming off a big win at Gallatin the Wildcats will face an old 7AAA foe in the Lavergne Wolverines on Friday night. Lavergne is coming off a close loss to Antioch. What do you guys think about this one. Can the Wildcats win two on the road or will Antioch's speed and skill players be able to make the big plays? Good luck to both teams Friday.
  3. First games of the season are a funny thing. New players in key positions for MJ and a Lebanon team that is just young enough not to realize they should roll over and let MJ crush them. Then again MJ could win by 5 TD's. Thats why they strap em up on Friday Nights!!!!!
  4. Thanks for the updates. I was at the Hartsville Jamboree myself, Macon was not a great looking team, but I did here that WC held its own against Independence only giving up one score the whole scrimmage. Their O did turn the ball over a couple of times. Looking forward to visiting some old friends in G-Town Friday just hope the weatherman has the forcast wrong for Friday night.
  5. Shelbyville by 14. Too much offense and more depth. IMHO. Good Luck to both
  6. Well now that Sumner County has school back in session what r your thoughts about this one. It was a lot closer last year than anyone thought it would be. Did the stress of the not knowing get to the coaches and players in Gallatin? Can WC get a break through win in 9-AAA? IT's High School Football TIme in Tennessee!!!!!!!!!
  7. That is incorrect. The visiting team can ask for an allotment of tickets to sell at the school during the week. The tickets come from the TSSAA any tickets not sold along with all the money collected must be returned to the host school prior to the end of the game. This is true of all regular season games and playoff games including the state championship games.
  8. What are they planting on the field in Hartsville.......
  9. I just heard the over under on the air horn getting hit by a sniper is midway through FCS first offensive drive of the game! Any takers on that action? This is a test, if this had been an actual emergency you'd already be dead!
  10. It should not be about having a finalist or not in the Mr. Football awards. Any true champion will tell you personal glory is great but unless you win your last game and get that Championship a Mr. Football Award is a hollow victory. I agree with you support your team cheer them on as they work toward a team championship but remember the old coaching adage "THERE IS NO "I" IN TEAM"
  11. Thats it Croz thanks I knew someone without dementia could tell me. This is a test had this been an actual emergency you'd all be dead!
  12. Ok I am looking for the name of a former TCHS OL/DL from the late 90's who played on one of the state championship teams. In a playoff game against FCS this young man had a hit on the left tackle that knocked him all the way back into the quaterback and running back at the exchange in the backfield caused a fumble and recovered it. I think his name was maybe suggs or scruggs. I cannot remember it sux getting old! Grunt Snoball Seven or Slim could you help me out with that kids name. I was always suprised I never saw him playing on Saturday he had to be 6' and 300lbs. By the way go easy on the parking thing the wife is an alumni from the class of 91 and we live in Wilson County, I can promise you however she and I will both be wearing Purple and Gold when we arrive. Final question will the Creekbank Navy be blowing stuff up at the end of this game like they did at the TNL game? Thanks in advance for the info. This is a test had this been an actual emergency you'd all be dead!
  13. Oakland my momma always taught me that calling a man a fool was sin! So I would think before you let ignorance fall out of your mouth. In the fourth quarter when Oakland was sucking wind I believe you will find MJ scored 14 unanswered points to go up 35 to 21 and Oakland put up a touchdown late in the game before mising the PAT which was blocked. You on the other hand can enjoy basketball season and what might have been. BTW the game was excellent and the players from Oakland did play a great three quarters against a very good team, however I do believe the better conditioned team won tonight. This is a test, if this had been an actual emergency you'd all be dead!
  14. Congrats to all the 9AAA teams on winning tonight. I am looking forward to the rematches this sets up I just wish those rematches could be a little later in the playoffs like maybe the third round or the semis. Nice win for MJ was a little suprised that Oakland kept it that close. Of course a garbage touchdown late in the game makes it look a lot closer than it was in the fourth quarter. This is only a test had this been an actual emergency you'd all be dead!
  15. I know this is a 7AAA vs Maryville thread but I would just like to point out that district 9AAA MJ defeated Oakland and all of the teams from the district won their games tonight. The only down side to this is that now the 4 5A teams from district 9AAA will have to play each other over the next two weeks because the morons at the T$$AA have no idea what they are doing. This is only a test, had this been an actual emergency you'd all be dead.
  16. I would say the debate is over on the best region in the state since 9AAA had all of its teams win tonight. The only thing about that is in 5A the 9AAA teams have to play each other now because the T$$AA has a bunch of morons seeding the playoffs. This was only a test had this been an actual emergency you'd all be dead!
  17. Okay TCHS fans who ever is working the gate please do not let that obnixious air tank and horn into the stadium. Hopefully we can place one of Trousdales finest at all the gates and tell them to take that crap back to possumtown!!!! It was the second most annoying thing at the TNL game this year..... The first of course being the sweatervest wearers!!!!!
  18. Antioch's past forays into playing 9AAA teams has not been terribly successful and I do not look for that to change this week. Bison 21 Bears 10. I would also love to see a rematch of Beech Station Camp in the second round. No love loss between these two teams.
  19. Having been a long time follower of Wildcat football and suffering throught the good and bad years all 11 of them now. I have to say I have never seen a football program with so many arm chair quarterbacks, second guessers and parents who do not know how to sit down and shut up and let the coaches do what there paid for. If you sit in your easy chair and tell your son how awful there coaches are then guess what your son is not going to give any effort in practice because they believe you, therefore they are not going to get any playing time. The sad fact of the matter is the Sophmore players on the team are the best players that could be put out there. Most of that was due to injury at the full back, and wing back positions. The thing that ticks me off the most is that the same people downing the coaches we do have, never seem to volunteer to come out and help the program get better by offering their expertise. IF you can do it so much better then go volunteer. I have yet to meet a coach at this school who turns away volunteers that are qualified and willing to go through the back ground check. Maybe thats the problem all of these parents who call the Principal and complain about how bad our coaches are and how good little Jimmy is and why isn't he playing are not qualified to coach pee-wee football let alone high school football. IF you want to know why the programs at Wilson Central and Lebanon are not sucessful, stop looking at the coaches and start looking at the work ethic of the players. Games are not won and lost on Friday night, they are won and lost January thrugh July. The fact that Mt. Juliet is so sucessful is because there players do not miss conditioning in the off season for any reason. The reason Gallatin and Hendersonville are successful is because missing an off season workout is not accepted if you want to play. This is on the parents and the coaches but if a coach is there to open the locker room then as a parent you need to make sure your kid is there everyday they are supposed to be. If not then it is your fault that the team is not successful not the coaches. YOu can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. This idea of blame the coach, cause Jimmy isn't playing, blame the teacher cause my son is failing math and hasn't turned in homework in three weeks, it is always someone else's fault with these parents around here. Maybe it is time you turn that spot light on yourselves and ask do I support the coaches, do I make sure my son is on time every time, do I make sure my son is at off season workouts everytime. Do I tell my son that the coach makes the decision and if he wants to play he had better work harder in practice? If you do not do every one of those things then you are the problem not the solution. Stop whining that this one paid to play or that one is playing over this one. Oh and Reaction11 yes Coach Dedman played high school football at Lebanon High School on some of that schools most talented teams, and I would imagine if you ask him about it he would tell you he never missed an off season workout because in those days if you did you had to run bleachers and belly whomppers and you did not complain and you did not go home and cry to mommy and daddy about how unfair you were being treated you took your punishment like a man and you worked your tail off to play football. That was the work ethic of players 20 years ago, that kind of thing doesn't seem to exist at Wilson Central right now, at Homecoming this year standing on the fence before kick off I was amazed to hear a couple of the seniors talking about where the party was going to be after the game instead of focusing on the game. I don't think thay learned that behavior from the coaches. Now please do not think that I believe our coaches are perfect either, they have made some poor decisions in games that have caused us to lose some games over the years no doubt. I do also believe their lack of personal discipline has led to a breakdown in team discipline and that is the coaches fault. However, as a parent of an athelete if I send my child to a school and that school has chosen a coach I expect my child to respect that coach and no matter how much I may disagree with that coaches style or decision making unless I plan to offer my help my child will never hear me trash talk a coach from the stands, or in my house. You know it would also help parents to remember high school sports are a privilage not a right. Jimmy or Johnny don't have to play highschool sports if your are so disgusted with the program or the coaches then put up and volunteer to help, shut up and support your child in getting better, or take your kid somewhere else to play the game. It is still a free country and you can move where ever you want to. Glademom I do agree with you though I am very proud of the way this young team has played this year. They had some opportunities to win a few more games sure, but they have never stopped trying. Go Wildcats good luck on the game tonight and let those Bears know they will have to come to play to get that perfect season.
  20. I would expect this game to end up a lot like the Clarksville Academy Portland game last week. 7-3 10-7 Sp. I got to see Franklin Co. Play against Lebanon if you can stop the run and get your backs to the edge FC does not tackle well. The Full Back is a big ole boy but unless his conditioning has improved he is sucking wind by mid way through the 2nd qtr. Good luck to SP from the middle tn area. Stay classy and if ya get the chance kick the crap out of Gordonsville in the playoffs.
  21. Butchie ya hoser glad to hear your better but sorry to hear ya gotta go back to work. A bad day fishing, hunting, golfing, loafing....etc is always better than work when the weather has been so nice. Ya know east west those TC boys don't care which way they go cause they will be at home for most of those playoff games anyway, and as everyone saw last night on TV it is awful hard to win on the creekbank.
  22. Crimsontide Could you explain for a non mathmatical guy how you create these power ranking numbers or where you get them. I do not dispute them just curious as to how you come by these numbers. Thanks
  23. Grunt, While I respect your knowledge of all things Trousdale County football, on this post I will have to disagree with you about the roll of the band at a high school football game. I do agree that the band should not play while your team has the ball unless you score or have a big play. However, I personally heard Clint Satterfield tell a former TCHS band director that having the band play while other teams were on offense was one of the best weapons Trousdale County had since most of the smaller schools they played did not have a band and it caused confusion when the Jackets were on D. Especially in close games when the Jackets had teams backed up on that end of the field. The other thing that is often overlooked by high school football fans is that regardless of the size of the band at your school several of those spectators have Jenny's and Johnnies playing those insturments and they did buy a ticket to hear them play and not just at halftime and when the team scores. Let me say if the coach asks you to stop playing when your on offense then you stop playing. Also if you attend high school football at the higher classifications in the TSSAA you will hear the same thing taking place at every game. One band plays while their team is on D and then the other plays while their team is on D. Constant crowd noise. Catch a game at Gallatin when they play HEndersonville and you can sometimes get confused into thinking you went to a football game and a concert broke out. I will close with this great win by the Jackets, keep on trucking, I hope to catch you guys play this season before the playoffs.
  24. Wilson Central has an excellent D. They did play a depleated Gallatin team but the stats showed that WC dominated every facet of the game but the most important one....the score. This has been the issue for the past three years or so. The D can play with a lot of really good teams but the offense cannot seem to find the endzone quite enough. With the exception of just a couple of games last year WC has been competative with the big boys in 9AAA. They were blown out by Beech and Station Camp last year but had a chance to beat Gallatin, Hendersonville, MJ, and Portland going into the 4th quarter and did manage to get wins over Lebanon and Station Camp. Lack of depth could be a problem for the wildcats this season but Gallatin was only able to muster a handful of first downs last week. 13 of their 20 points came from blocking two punts. WC has a sophmore qb on offense but they run the ball very well. The middle of the D is stacked with a huge nose guard and a great linebacking core. Friday's game should be a good one. Lavergn's offense against the D of WC. If your heading over there for the game I suggest you get there early unless you want to have to hike to the field parking is awful. The concession stand usually has some great cheeseburgers, and the nacho's aren't bad either.
  25. Crane is a very good coach and Springer is very good as well. However, during Wilson Centrals best seasons when Crane and Springer were coaching there the offensive guru was not a teacher at the school. So it can work out well without the coordinators being at the school. It might just allow Springer more time to concentrate on game planning since he does not have any teaching duties at the school. As for having to be a teacher to be a head coach, Wilson County will allow non teachers who have 5 years or more head coaching experience to hold that title. This allows retired coaches/teachers who no longer have a certificate to be a head coach. This was an issue that came up during the hiring process at Wilson Central when Brad Dedman was hired. The TSSAA may have a rule on this but I was not able to locate it on their web site if anyone knows for sure please enlighten us, Thanks.
