  1. Sorry, don't know why this posted three times. Oops
  2. Yes Tyner fans you wont have to pay to park because we never charge for parking at any event even playoff games. Never have never will!!! We wont try to fleece you like East Hamilton did during basketball tourny last year. This guys just ticked because the Polk fans balked being told they HAD to pay 3 bucks to park which you cant do. A lot of people ask for donations but our admistration will not even allow that. So MR EHgreen I know you all are trying to get athletic facility built but it takes time. Did not have a football field for 4 years after new high school built and took longer for baseball and softball which still dont have lights at PC but you dont see us gouging fans. Here's a tip. If you don't charge to park more people may show up for the games and spend a little more at your concession stand, give it a try.
  3. Tyner has edge in playing better overall schedule ( teams are 46-52 compared to Polk's foes at 35-65 )and just better overall competition. Most of Coach D's regular season losses are to Tyner so I know their not intimidated. Same old song every week, Polk is too slow to keep up with team fill in the blank, and we might be but that's why you play the games. Too bad two district champs play each other first round, both deserve better than this!!! Two many divisions anyway IMO. Should have 4 classes and top three teams in districts go with byes to champs but that would cut into the TSSAA money too much. I liked the idea of (2)16 team divisions for playoffs, heck we use to have to travel to Nashville in the past to face Goodpasture, Lispcomb, Pearl Cohn, etc anyway. Could be worse, could be sitting home now. Should be a great game and the team that wins will have to play well. GO CATS. For the Tyner folks we don't have any of those great hot fish sandwiches at the Wildcat Cafe but the Bar B Q is pretty good. No charge for parking so bring some fans.
  4. Dont know if we took Loudon lightly or not. I do know that their big physical line pushed us around on both sides of the ball and were well conditioned. Bradley was big also but our conditioning was better and they wilted after the first two series of each half (they were a little smaller but in better condition this year to their credit). When teams are pretty close it usually comes down to line play and turnovers. No doubt that district has much better competition across the board. Just Fact. Dont think the Cats will quit against anyone however, we will give em our best shot and see what happens.
  5. Lots of mixed emotions about this one. Agree that I would love to see an all out air assault for the first quarter then turn it over to the pups if successfull. I still have nightmares about what happened to the Murphy kid a few years ago up there at Meigs. THE MOST AWEFULL CHEAP SHOT I have ever seen. After punting the ball he is trailing the play 40 yards back and gets his legs taken out from behind!!! Torn ACL took his senior season away from him and thats something you never get back. It was terrible. Made me sick. Starters better keep heads on swivels. Don't think Meigs coaches would condone something like this but in the heat of battle when your frustrated who knows. Dont want to be a downer but we want everyone healthy. As for Alcoa I dont think they are worried about us even though they are looking at this board. Heck, dont think Loudon or CAK too worried either, but thats OK. We usually are better when we have a chip on the old shoulder. Very proud of our team. A lot of really good kids on and off the field.
  6. Sorry, wasnt trying to slight the linemen (heck i was one) thats why I mentioned them first. Usually we're recognized as a unit anyway but agree. Hope Josh is in good shape. Looked like he got shook up at one point but stayed in and battled as always. Love those linemen.
  7. Congrads to the Cats. Best overall TEAM effort I've seen in a long time. Thought it was the best effort by the D-line all year and we had to have it. O-line worked their butts off ( SP has some huge O and D linemen so you cant say Polk was a lot bigger size wise granted we have more numbers). Yes SP had turnovers but Polk turned it over also in the early going. Good teams make their breaks and both of these team are good and you expect them to turn the other team over. Most successfull senior class in school history and most have been playing big roles for three years. Very fortunate to have been blessed with a group like this on and off the field! Lee, Hargrove, and Allen are such a great blend of great tallent in different areas of the game and compliment each other so well. Throw in the youngsters in Akins, Saxe, and Mull and thats one of the deepest groups of skill guys we've had in a long time. Polk fans will remember this bunch for a long time. As for South Pitt you all don't need to jump off that big bridge down there yet. You know your a good team, too bad a FEW of your fans want to get all doomesday and the coaches that were so great become dummies overnight (those folks sound like Bradley fans lol). AS for the QB, cut the kid some slack. He was getting swarmed all night. When he got up in the second half after Hargrove (best linebacker I've ever seen here) PLANTED him from the blind side that was enough to make me a fan. GUTS. Most guys would have called it a night at that point. Good luck to you in the playoffs and I am sure you will go far. Thanks for the good words from the classy SP fans on here. Respect is gotten when respect is given.
  8. Pirate Mike will you guys get the cougars in the playoffs? I cant figure out who lines up in the lower classifications when the playoffs start. Thought they used to be in your district. They may have the best team in years but hard to tell seeing as they have played two of the worst teams in North Carolina and one of the worst teams in Georgia add in a reform school and two small private church schools plus whitwell and boom your 7-0 and ranked 4th in the state. WOW. I know our district is really down and our non district foes except for Bradley and you guys hasnt panned out too well but gee whiz. Give me a clue.
  9. Ole Howiepirate blew his cover. He is a closet Bradley fan and cant stand the attention the cats get over this way. He wants to tell you that the cats are not as good as last year because the bears beat us and congads to them. They were much improved over last year and made their own breaks to get the win. What he doesnt want you to know is that the cats had more first downs, more rushing yards, and more total yards in the game than the bears did. Bears edged us a little in passing yardage in the game. Polk had three turnovers that resulted in 20 of their 26 points and they won 26-16. Allen had a boot on his ankle til mid week and wasnt expected to play. There are the facts. Glad to see the real pirate fans can give respect WHEN EARNED not like some other folks. Had a guy come up to me at Wendy's in SP last year to tell me that we hadnt seen speed like we would that night. To his credit he came over to our side at halftime and found me to tell me we had a really good team. NOW THATS CLASS !!! Looking forward to the game and this one should be another great one. Hope the SP folks travel over as well as we did to play you all last year. Good luck to all. Hope all stay healthy for the playoffs cause we are both going and hope going farther than last year.
  10. Agreed, I didnt see any late hits either. Thought both teams played very clean.
  11. Think he got mad at the onside kick after second TD. Also heard he felt polk was hitting late? Sequoyah has played Polk tough in the first half last couple of years so dont see aproblem with putting points up early. To the chiefs credit they problably did the best job of tackling in the open field we have seen all year.
  12. Chargers take down Lions 3-1. Cats calm the Canes 12-4. Congrads to 5 AA both to sectionals.
  13. Now thats funny right there I don't care who you are!
  14. Thanks for the info. Didnt know.
  15. Jared Allen at Polk County hit 3 in 4 games last week but district play started this week and Meigs intentionally walked him 3 out of 4 at bats Tuesday. That will probably happen alot this year. He hit 8 as a freshman and 12 as a sophmore. Just a junior this year.
  16. Is Boyd Buc not still in this district? They were tough last year. According to lookup on coach T they are 3-0 and have scored double digit runs in each game.
  17. Can't be skeeerd now. We will show up whoever it is and do our best.
  18. Got to consider Upperman played an agressive man to man defense all night. The most hand checking I have seen all year without being called. The keep away seemed to frustate the bees to the point of reaching and hacking to try to take the ball away. Polk played a drop off zone to keep the ball from getting inside to the big girl and played off enough to invite the long outside shots which just did not fall. Did think one block very well could have been a charge on Polk. Dont think either side felt the refs helped them as much as they could have. And the three pointer at the end of the half to cut it to 8 pts seemed very late after time had expired to everyone on Polks side of the gym but don't hear any gripes about that. Upperman girls played HARD but were just taken out of their comfort zone. Great effort by both teams.
  19. Sorry to intrude. Just wanted to get log man's valued opion. Bottom line four good teams should be two very good games. Match-ups predicted, sites reversed. So how deep do Upperman and Cannon go? Don't know alot about the two except they are very highly regarded.
  20. What would you say the ratio would be if MC had to play their starting 5 the whole game as Polk does. No substitutions agianst Brainerd and only one against MC when starter fouled out under 2 minutes to play. Polk starts their best 5 and they gut it out the entire game for better or worse. Got to give those girls credit for fighting all night against one of the best defensive teams around. What a physical effort! Would be nice to see what games would be like if PC had 3-4 subs that could give our starters a break now and then. How deep does Upperman go. I bet pretty deep bench for them.
  21. Congrads on a great turnaround this season for the Bears. Good luck in the playoffs.
