  1. I always try to see things for what they're worth and look at the other side. Think explosive plays will give you a shot. That along with getting Adamsville into throwing situations. Also, don't see how anyone is discrediting second half of TCA season when neither team has played a particularly strong schedule since the first 4-5 games.
  2. Goldsmith is the best back that Adamsville has seen thus far. The RB from Lauderdale County was more physical but not as explosive. I don't think it's really fair to take away his two biggest runs and not give the kid credit for what he was able to do against a defense that hasn't given up too many big plays this season. Defense will have to take those big runs away Friday night. I think that's a huge key for TCA, they'll need a couple of those to have a chance and make Adamsville play on edge.
  3. Hope this week's game is a good test and everyone comes out injury free. Random question based off some earlier posts, how long is the Adamsville-McNairy rivalry finished? I realize that this rivalry has gotten ugly and nasty, but last time I checked tell me a rivalry that isn't? At the end of the day it's about the kids. I don't care how bad Adamsville was or McNairy has been at some points in this rivalry. That game always presented a big time atmosphere for the players and the gate is always good for both schools. A lot of these arguments can be put to rest by the results on the field.
  4. I'm an Adamsville guy, but I can't disagree with Intense. If we've all been watching the same team for the past three weeks and think that this team is as good as the past few teams then I must be missing something. I get defending kids and the program, but I don't see anything he said as an attack. Sometimes you have to be honest about where things are. It's great to get a win, but if that's the standard of play you expect to see every week and you're pleased then we'll all be in the gym earlier than we're used to. Three weeks in and still the same silly mistakes and sloppy play. Sorry, but this isn't championship caliber football. Now, is that to say this team isn't talented? No. Can it get better? Yes. Will it get better? That's up to the guys who we watch every Friday night. Adamsville has one of the best coaching staffs in the state and I know they are working hard to get this team better. This week was better than last week and it's nice to get a win. Now it's time to build and keep making improvement.
  5. I think this is a very good post. Would like to see them get back to their identity and that's a power football team. I do think someone has to take the QB job in order for this team to make a deep run. I think you are spot on about getting the passing game going. Make those short passes, get comfortable and move the chains. Offense gets some rhythm then take a shot downfield. I thought the Chester County game was a little foreshadowimg into last Friday's game. Maybe that fixed the focus and entitlement problem going into another big one.
  6. Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving and wish safe travels to everyone tonight! Should be a good one. From what I'm seeing its going to be speed vs power. I still think the key for Peabody is stopping the run early and jump out to a fast start on offense. Make the Cardinals put in the air, if you do that you could have a good night. If Adamsville is able to establish the run and they can pound the ball, those plays will add up. Run the ball, eat clock and take care of the ball. Good luck and congratulations to both programs on their accomplishments this season. Gut feeling says 28-14 Adamsville.
  7. I think this one could be really good. Interested to see how Adamsville matches up with this speed. Yes, they are a very big, physical team but don't forget some of those LBs are pretty fast getting to the ball. I'm interested to see how the secondary will hold up. I think that was an area of concern after the TCA game and I don't believe they've been tested since. Offensively, I think Adamsville's biggest strength is the ability to dominate you up front for four quarters and pound the ball down your throat. If Adamsville can establish the running game early, it could be a good night for the Cardinals.
  8. Heard he is at a prep school now. I think Riverside's passing game is good enough to make a few plays against Adamsville's secondary and score a few to make this one interesting. Not sure they'll be able to slow down Adamsville's offense though. I'll take Adamsville 35-21
  9. Bulldog, definitely a long winded post. Just got rolling there for a minute. oldschool, Just to clear things up. I wasn't saying the call was wrong. Just saying that officiating is a part of the game and they'll miss some. However you feel about the call, you can't react like what we saw Friday night. Also, wasn't saying recruiting was going on. I do believe you make valid points on why the series should take a break. Could be good for both. Ultimately when they meet again, the nastiness will come back in my opinion. It's a rivalry and any true rivalry doesn't have a touch of industrial sized nastiness.
  10. A few thoughts after reading this thread... Can someone explain why discontinuing this series is a good idea? Adamsville took beatings for 20+ years from the Bobcats. Did people in Selmer really think that they would dominate (look at the scores, they not only won they dominated) forever? Sports change. Coaches come and go, players graduate, and eventually things shift. Eventually, the tides will turn back in McNairy's favor. I really hope people from Adamsville aren't ignorant enough to think that the tides have turned forever in this series. I have heard people on both sides say that Adamsville-McNairy isn't even a rivalry anymore because Adamsville has dominated in the past few years. They weren't screaming that when McNairy was dominating. That's absolutely insane. That crowd doesn't show up if they "aren't rivals" and the emotion you saw doesn't come out if "they aren't rivals". That's like saying Tennessee-Florida or Tennessee-Alabama aren't rivals because Tennessee hasn't been competitive in recent history in those series. In my opinion, everyone in the situation needs to step back and chill out. People in Adamsville need to soak up what this program has accomplished in recent years and enjoy it while it's happening, because it won't last forever. Quit being so sensitive about people screaming that Adamsville recruits... This is an open enrollment county. That's the bottom line, kids can go where they want. People who support McNairy need to step back from crying about "recruiting" and what Adamsville is doing and support their kids and coaching staff. Rome wasn't built in a day, it took time to get the ball rolling for Coach Gray and his staff in Adamsville. I do believe Coach Hodge, IF given time, with his energy and enthusiasm will build McNairy back into a competitive program. I do believe with his comments in his introduction, he has set himself up on a pedastal for people to expect an instant turnaround and I did not like his actions at all on Friday night. Call it what you want, it was an extremely selfish move to be ejected. He has put his entire staff and team in a bind now because he couldn't control his emotions. A head coach cannot act this way, period. I would say the same if it was Coach Gray. The first 15 yard penalty should have been the end of it, let the official know he messed up and move on. I give a lot of credit to officials, there are many who give their best effort. But, they're human and they'll miss a call (some more than others and some way more than others). But that's the game. If you are mentally weak enough to let a bad call phase you enough to be ejected, as a HEAD COACH, how will your team respond? I think there's a reason that we saw the momentum shift for good in that game and McNairy rolled over. They aren't mentally tough enough right now and that starts at the top. With that said, I wish Coach Hodge the best at McNairy. I do believe he is giving a solid effort to turn the program around and if he is given time and continues to put in the energy and effort he has brought into this thing, it will turn around. This county has the athletes to have two quality football programs to support in the fall. Ending this series would be an absolute shame and will not fix anything. People will still complain on both sides about the same things, because the two will still have to exist in the same county. The fact of the matter is, everyone in the situation needs to step back and worry about their own program. Enjoy the ride if you're in Adamsville and start supporting Coach Hodge in Selmer rebuilding McNairy.
  11. Awesome game last night. I think it definitely lived up to all the hype. A few random thoughts from last night... TCA's offense was impressive and unlike one of the previous posters, I am going to give their defense a lot of credit. Adamsville's offense had no rhythm in the second half, the TCA defense did a very nice job. Akin might be the best QB I have seen in this area in a long time. He makes great decisions, he's got excellent pocket presence and a very good arm. I did not like the Adamsville passing game again, I think we are geared to all or nothing. Lots of throws that look very forced in double and triple coverage and against good teams that's not going to pay off. The officials were very generous on the pass interference calls I thought, many of those balls were not even close to being catchable. There was a lot of talk about Adamsville having more depth but I thought in the 4th quarter that Adamsville was definitely the more gassed team. In my opinion, TCA was the much better team last night. Look forward to seeing both teams continue to improve as the year goes along. It would be interesting to see these 2 meet again.
  12. Good post 9oldschool5. It's easy to forget about the little things that aren't sharp when the result is a win. I'm sure the coaching staff is sharpening those things up, it is early in the year. This team just needs to get better every day and game. The secondary will definitely be tested against TCA. I'm still not sold on Adamsville's passing game, it needs to clean up before I can truly believe this is a strength. The running game is as good as I have seen from an Adamsville team. Lots of good backs to give an opposing defense fits.
  13. Should be interesting. Adamsville did not look like the back to back state runner-up last Friday night. Running game and defense did look good, but I was not impressed by the passing game. Chester County looked very dangerous, lots of speed and weapons on offense. To me they were the only team not going through the motions on Friday night.. I'll say it'll be a close one. I'll take the Eagles by a score late.
  14. Yes he is. He looks to have gotten stronger too. He has a chance to be special before he leaves!
  15. Trinity will be the better team by the end of the season. Less than impressive win last night for Adamsville, especially considering how poorly TCA played. I have a lot of respect for Trinity basketball and I'm not trying to take anything away from that team. It was very obvious that they've not been in the gym very long. I can't say the same about Adamsville. There was only 1 player who touched the floor last night who played football, the rest of those guys have been in the gym since August. I believe in process over result and if you play like Adamsville did last night you will not win this district. Adamsville struggled with the press and at times I felt we settled and forced a ton of shots on the offensive end. Defensively we struggled in the zone. Nevertheless, this team needs positive energy and I will tip my hat to them for beating a very good Trinity team. 2 big wins in a row for the Cardinals heading to the break, hope they fix the small things and get things going.
