This one looks very tough to call. Both teams are strong..I believe as always in the big games it will come down to line play on Off/Def and turnovers..HE who makes the fewest mistakes will win...Stay focused Spartans!!

Don't see this game playing out any differently than the first go-round..Looking for our Rams to continue strong focus on execution and a low number of penalties and mistakes..Has Harriman improved in the last several weeks??..Do they have any players back they may have been missing when we played during the season??

This is all I have to say...I am not saying I agree with the petition and the way it is "apparently" being handled..There are other ways which may be much more effective in bringing about desired change. Maturity is key and planning for MUTUAL RESPECT AND A MUTUAL PURPOSE..THIS IS THE ANSWER TO DEALING WITH CRITICAL CONVERSATIONS... However, change usually doesn't happen unless there is crisis. We have now gone 17 consecutive years without a winning season..Only once since 1993 were we .500...To my knowledge only one year from 1980-93(Another 13 year span) did we have a winning season and that was 6-5. THE SCORECARD SAYS IT ALL. The only way to "GET IT RIGHT" is a grassroots community effort with 1. A vision 2. A specific plan 3. Money and 4. A positive attitude and not a bunch of people with different agenda's seeking power. Over the years, Karns has had a number of fine players play college football, we can return to that level. Attenchun, well it seems I got your "attention" and your ire...While I believe you mis-interpreted my post, I hope it gets you and your temmates fired up to play your best football friday night. To pirate Mike, Silverandblue09 is correct we have very limited seating but the facility still seems to produce good veiwing from almost anywhere..If you don't get a seat you can just bring a lawn chair and sit on the hill and see well from that view...it's small but great for a high school game.(assuming we both win and advance to that point which is still a guess) Personally, I worry if we will truly be able to build the permanent stadium anytime soon..I just can't figure out how we are going to move an entire hillside of dirt to build it..

I am glad at least a few people post interesting and insightful comments instead of the usual message board back and forth dribble. First..I have not seen Sunbright but I was taken aback by their record and then their "dusting" of Cloudland..Is Cloudland that bad or is Sunbright just improving as the playoffs come around and peaking at the right time?? As for Grace... here is what I think..although no one may care about what "I think". Grace does have alot of indivually talented players..the key is whether they decide to play as a team or not...This has been an issue through the season..They have played individually at times and as a team at times. I hope they bonded vs Greenback because they rallied as a team that night..In certain games, however, they have had a tremendous number of penalties...Ex :Gibbs, Rockwood and just ridiculous turnovers where we fumble due to poor execution or we just throw up a pass instead of timing a receiver. The team has had numerous discussions about this and frankly the coaches have coached so the players just have to play with focus and intensity. The weaknesses of Grace do seem to play into Sunbright's strengths'. First the secondary must play well to stop the spread..CAK passed us to death in the first game. Grace has a pass rush at times but some teams have slowed it down. If teams try to just line up and run at the Rams they usually lose that battle unless they run certain plays which I won't describe here because I am a Grace fan and don't want to tip Sunbright's staff. Grace's o-line is the key to me..If they block well and protect well for passing downs we can run and the QB has ample time and is less likely to just "toss it up". The line must not have more than a couple penalties. Grace defensive front and LB core is also a key. DF who has a knee injury may or may not play..hard to tell.. Overall if Cambell, DF, Williams and Waters have big plays GRace will win...If not and there are penalties and turnovers..Grace is vulnerable just like S. Pitt is.. I hope the place is packed Friday night...Go Rams..

How will this game match up style wise. I know little about Sunbright. What type of offensive and defensive alignments do they normally run?

Oh cry me a river Clinton fans...The bracket seedings look fine to me..You will have to beat Columbia and TN High anyway so just play the games let the better team win...For those of you who post who believe home field makes much difference in high school..please..you probably never played or if you did you sat the bench. The decisions have been made, let's just play the games and enjoy it all. Hey you could be a Karns fan and have very little to EVER cheer for.

BTuna, While I have been very clear re my thoughts and opinions re the history(since the 70's mind u) and direction of the leadership of Karns I must say that I have come to appreciate how you are responding to some of the posters in this forum. You are correct that we need to celebrate the wins Karns has and that negativity usually breeds itself in a never ending cycle. I still feel we need major changes and I don't have all the answers. Immature posters who spew garbage for the most part are not the answer either. I am just glad Karns finished with a win and that Grace Christian(also a part of the Karns community) finished with a big win as well and will make the playoffs.

Somebody needs to look at the Waters kid from Webb. #33. Ive been to a number of their games and seen others on TV. He is everywhere at Weakside LB and Special Teams. Had at least 15 tackles vs Davidson last week and had 15 vs Knoxville Catholic. Took down Dorian Cozart 1 on 1 several times. Just a baller. The issue is his weight..Weighs about 165 or so but with a redshirt and a college weight program he would make a great mid-major safety. He is just has football player written all over him.

Grace will try to wrap up a very good regular season vs Greenback. Seems like we owe them a little payback. Very demanding and physical game last week for Grace vs Johnson Co. Still dont know full extent of injury to DF. Is he out for season or not? Hopefully not. Grace needs to continue to focus on the "Mental Errors". There seems to be more cohesive teamwork and defense seems to be playing with more emotion. The focus on elimination of penalties and fumbles, untimely interceptions needs to improve heading into the playoffs. Also, from a COACHING perspective...Hope u guys read this...Be ready..Have some things ready you have not shown just in case we need them...Loved the attempted fake punt direct snap to the Waters kid vs Johnson Co. If not false start it would have gone for 30-40 yds easy. Need to add a few stunting packages to make up for inability to cover a strong passing team. Lets go get em RAMS!!!!

A number of points made in the thread above are great ideas. In reply to the cats fan the young man from West is only one in a long line of lost players. I have mentioned before that both my nephews are zoned for Karns. The oldest played a few seasons in the Karns feeder leagues then went to Pilot. He starts for Webb. The youngest went straight to Pilot. He starts for Grace Christian Academy. Grace Christian, since its in Karns, gets a number of children of Karns Alumni and a good portion of the donation base that could have gone to Karns booster club. Its not that we didnt love and support Karns, its just that both kids had very good opportunities at the other schools. Karns did contemplate a name change a number of years ago. The band actually went by "Cavalier Band" for a number of years. Karns Cougars was also strongly considered. However, The old community guard shot it down...Most of those people are way too old to be actively associated with decisions today. Karns started somewhere around 1927 so a name change takes some efforts. The program is fixable though..One good season would be all it would take. When Karns basketball went to back to back state basketball tournaments in 84-85 we sent record numbers of fans. It wont be easy, but a few serious donations and a new committment by administration to bring in the right coaches could change the direction totally. If Carter can win occasionally, if Powell can win, then Karns should be able to win. Go Big Bad Blue

Here is a reminder why some of us who love Karns want to see a deep sweeping revitalization of the program. It starts with the administration and coaching leadership but the community must get on the bandwagon as well. Can anyone speak to the strengths and weaknesses of Johnson Co.??

The Waters kid who is only a freshman for Grace Christian Academy starts at LB, leads the tam in Ints,Plays WR on offense and come in at QB in the wildcat package as well as playing special teams.

Well I have been watching the discussion thread between Balleret and Big Tuna and frankly I know we all just want to see Karns become successful at Football once again.. Once again??? Yes, there was a time..believe it or not... I am a Karns grad who played in the youth leagues for Karns in the 70's and early 80's.. I only managed 1 year in the HS program due to the leadership of coach Wayne T. Stiles, Coach Cathy and Sims etc all of whom tried I guess but just didnt give much to the Freshman team.. We were county middle school Champions, Champions in the John Tarleton leagues for years on end during those periods. We always played CBFO well or even won, From 1981-1987 Karns had enough talent to compete and win win the Oak Ridge's and Farraguts of the world..What happened is that 1/2 the athletes played and the other half due to our own immaturity at age 14-15 didnt stick it out due to our HORRIBLE leadership from administration and coaches. THAT IS A PURE FACT..In the early 70's Karns had a very good coach named Howard "red" Wells whose children either went on to teach at Karns in some capacity or play at Karns, His daughter Kim was a starter on the 1979 Girls State Runner-up team in BBall that lost the title game to Nashville Pearl. Coach Wells had previously won a state football title in Mississippi and lead Karns to a number of strong seasons in the early 70's and was the driving force behind why Karns youth leagues became strong at the time. Coach Wells left the position sometime around 1975 because he found he could make alot mmore money in the athletic supplies business. He lived in Karns until his death several years ago. Since the retirement of Coach Wells Karns has has maybe 2 winning seasons, countless head coaches etc. In addition to losing some talent to the HVA opening Karns loses many other players to other private schools like Grace Christian and Webb and even Catholic. I have 2 nephews who are zoned for Karns but who start for both Grace and Webb respectively, both have been named player of the week in the area from one service or another this season..Karns talent is simply depleted because there is no continuity at the high school in leadership which trickles into losing good youth league players early to Pilot and other teams to escape the mediocrity at KArns...In the end,..Balleret is correct...Big Tuna is living in a fantasy world if he thinks Karns will ever win without major changes in AD leadership and coaching...I truly think it would also help if some Karns Alumni who were financially well off would dump some resources into facilities...Hey Tom and Rocky...I know you've done alot already but you might be able to change this thing...Well enough of what I think Go Big Bad Blue..And for gosh sakes our colors are Blue and Gold not Blue and White.

I am a Karns Fan and a Grace/Webb fan due to family but I must say that I really don't think Karns is capable of beating Oak Ridge even though this is only the beginnings of what Oak Ridge will become in time. Karns doesn't have believe in itself yet.

I need the help of those of you who know how to access old yearly win-loss records..I am fairly convinced that Karns is one of the historically "losingest" programs in AAA and now 6-A football at least in East Tn anyway...I am so tired of it and I need the win loss records from 1970 thru 2009 to date. If any of you computer research wizards especially those who review old online newspapers can get this to me I would be greatful.

Well, I started his topic so maybe I can wrap it up.. First, Thanks to the Rockwood folks who traveled to Grace..I believe you have a fine team and will win more this year..About the game and our Rams......Rockwood had a tough time stoppoing the run and I wonder why they didn't attack our suspect secondary more....someone surely will. The Rams continued to run the ball hard and 2/3 of the team played very hard down after down...still...something is missing and I believe this is a turning point in the season...To be able to advance in the playoffs past one game several things must change. 1. About 1/3 of the players seem to lack intensity and dicipline...The defense never gets "pumped" as a unit..IS THIS A CHALLENGE TO FOCUS AND UNITE?? YES 2. The lack of dicipline can be applied to penalties and decisions the same handful of players keep making. The Gibbs game and this game were unacceptable re penalties and turnovers..This is mental focus and the leaders on this team, not the coaches, need to get it corrected among themselves or the post season will be short and they will be watching friends at other schools play on tv. Who are the true team leaders?? Step up..Encourage your teammates in a constructive way, have one on one or three on one discussions as appropriate..Get this ship united and going in the same direction..show some heart..We are behind ALL of U..Football is just a GAME, But much can be learned about LIFE through the progressions of a season..Right now I see little passion, too many mistakes, lots of talent, some folks playing their hearts out, some folks playing when they want to play...Its up to the you young men...Yes, you are winning..that's good..But are you pushing yourselves to grow as players and leaders????
