Me and the wifey made the short trip from Jackson to see the game. I have no dog in this fight, so im impartial on what happened . It was an amazing 1st half of soccer with the teams going back and forth . You could see that Houston was the better team but the Germantown defense was fighting tooth and nail as it was suppose to. I still say they were the better defense but Germantown had very little offense HECK THEY PLAYED 1 FORWARD. The big difference was that the Houston offense was so much stronger and skilled than Germantowns offense, that Houston offense continued pressure on the defenders , The weaker offense didnt pressure the Houston defense because they just didnt have the horses to do so. Houston scoring at the end of the half was the back breaker and it shouldn't have been , you could see that the game changed after that , shame on Germantown and kudos to Houston. Both teams had several chances but only Houston captialized , but them girls wearing the red jersey should not hang their heads in shame, because the Houston will surely be favored to win the big state title and they are not number 1 in the state just for the sake of being number 1. The 2nd half started out bad for the Red shirts and ended that way , it was a couple questionable calls but that had no bearing on the outcome. The Houston team had so much depth an it showed . From what I understand they are graduating more seniors than the whole Germantown has players, not sure if that is true but gee it look like the Houston team had 5 times as many players on the bench if not more. From what I understand the schools are like 3 miles apart an boy does this make for a great rivarly. I know this showed last night because it was standing room only and it was good time I know it was tied in with the breast cancer game and im sure that helped. IF THEY HAD A REMATCH AGAIN TONIGHT WE WOULD MAKE TRIP IF POSSIBLE, BECAUSE IT SUCH A GREAT ATMOSPHERE!! I know that the boys get all the ink for football but that last night was just as good as many high school football games I have seen over my years. That speaks volume for how far ladies soccer has come and its contiuous growth. Both sides should be proud that they are helping others in the state to see that yes there is SOCCER IN THE WEST. Good luck to both programs and my hat is off for a job well done !

Here is what I found out . By the way when is this game, I may travel from Jackson to see that game, If anyone knows let me know when and where. Offense vs Defense: Common opponents between Houston & Germantown White Station, Oakridge, Greenwood Ky, Hutchinson, St.Marys,Briarcrest,Bolton, Collierville. Houston 37 goals for 13 goals against Germantown 11 goals for 5 goals against This has the makings of a good old Slobbernocker. If anyone can tell me wherethis game is played and when , me and the wifey may make the trip.!

I am not as keen as you guys and ladies on the girls names .Defense doesn't get you all the pub , but it has be played from the heart and the GermTown defenders have alot of heart . That goes for any sport, whatever it may be. I saw the goalie and them 4 defenders last week and they are quick and fearless. Yes i have never seen Houston play, and I know they get alot ink, well deserved im sure . BUT DON'T BE SHOCKED IF THAT SWARMING DEFENSE STOPS THEM COLD .All them defenders are very aggressive and that number 12 is probably the best centerback in high school , don't know her name but she is AMAZING !!! Furthermore in all team sports don't you play D 1st ? I know you all have heard this cliche OFFENSE SELLS tickets and DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Gemantown 1 Houston 1 Good defense will always beat good offense in any sport.So i take the easy road TIE GAME !!

Thanks for the welcome. All I am stating is that we have a high powered offense, and yes we have played some quality opponents as you can see from your research. Just because they all are not from Memphis and you don't recognize them is no fault of anyones. Yes we have a lost to a very good St.George's team who tied one of your cities best in Houston ! May i mention we were missing 1 of our best players. 2nd, we played a very very good defensive Germantown team to a tie . Yes we did score to many on some teams like IC , etc but lets don't downplay the accomplishments of what this team has done. I only wish we could play more teams from that area and then you guys could give a reasonable assessment !!!

May I chime in on offense vs defense ? Germantown came up to visit us this past week and all we heard was no offense and superior defense, well the hype was right on .We kept the ball down at our end so much , but we never could manuever the ball into the net. Their goalie made some very good stops and that #12 HAS TO BE THE BEST DEFENDER IN STATE.That whole defensive line for them was very fast and kept our high scoring forwards off balance . If one of them wasn't swarming you then 2 others were and they continued to clear the ball. So i agree that games are won on the offensive side but it seems like the Germantown team is playing not to lose, and trying to score on some sets. My daughter told me that they have not been scored on by 75 percent of the teams that they played , so my hat is off to them , because there D is fearless, and I say that because we have a high powered offense.

I invite any of you to come see the awesome complex @USJ.. My grand daughter plays out there and she is in her 4th year and during those 4 years we have seen many of the facilities and USJ is much better than anything we have played at !
