  1. Hey cool! I'm glad that info's out there somewhere. The site I saw however far back (I think this was probably like 2006 or so) had a couple little differences. It listed George Veech as GL Veech and Harvey McCall as Bud McCall, at a glance, but both of those were way, way before my time. There's a coaches list on hsfdatabase, too, now that I'm looking at it: http://www.hsfdatabase.com/tennesseecoaches2.htm
  2. I've got nothing bad to say about Riverdale's strength of schedule; y'all play a bunch of tough teams. Let's not pretend Maryville just plays a bunch of patsies though. The last team that wasn't Maryville to beat Riverdale wasn't a 7AAA team, it was Oak Ridge. Riverdale played Farragut twice in '09 and '10 and won by a combined eight points. Like it or not, Maryville getting paired up annually with Bearden, Catholic, Farragut and Oak Ridge is a pretty good grouping in its own right and it's only going to help East Tennessee football.
  3. I got this one! 17: 1926 - Pat Shores 1927-1933 GL Veech 1934-1935 Dean Bailey 1936-1937 Steve Boretsky 1938-1939 Bud McCall 1940-1941Paul Rafferty 1942 Charles Kindred 1943-1955 Jim Renfro 1956 Ollie Keller 1957-1962 Ken Shepard 1963-1965 Don Rawls 1966-1980 Ted Wilson 1981-1987 Don Story 1988 Emory Hale 1989-1992 John Olive 1993-1998 Tim Hammontree 1999- George Quarles There used to be a website that had every team's record all the way back to 1926... no idea where it was or what happened to it, but I cribbed a copy of all the data before it went away.
  4. We've got a game coming up against Cleveland, and no idea who's coaching them or what they run or who's under center after Voytik's gone. I don't like to look much beyond the next one! One game at a time... I will say that I think Maryville can compete with anyone they'll play. What do you think we're going to look like next year? We're certainly going have a different look on both sides of the ball.
  5. The last time was a 10-9 loss for Maryville in 1992, their sole regular season loss of the year that year. Maryville had a 2-4 stretch against Sevier County from 1987-1992, and no I don't still have a bad taste in my mouth about a couple of those Looking forward to the game - go get some redemption for the middle aged folks!
  6. Seconded, '82! I've seen a lot of class out of the Riverdale folks in this thread this past week. You Warriors fans look to be in good hands with Aydelott; I know Maryville fans are bound to remember his Hillsboro teams, and it looks like Riverdale should be keeping right on with the deep playoff runs year after year. Hopefully with some luck, and the regions/hosting being what they are for 2010, it works out that we can see you all next year at your place!
  7. You can always check out Aubrey's, too. It's not even two miles from MHS and assuming you come in Alcoa Highway from I-40, you're going to pass right by it anyway coming in for the game. Great menu: ribeye, ribs, filet mignon, all that sort of stuff. I'd almost stopped thinking of it being a local place - there's 6 of them now, but they're all in and around Knoxville. Really good food! Just google Aubrey's Restaurants to check it out (I'd link it myself but not sure what this message board's policy is on ads/linking). I can't wait 'til these two teams meet on the field! Riverdale's as marquee a program as they get in Tennessee, and I just know both teams will leave it all out there. Maryville's one of those teams that has a mystique around them, and let's be honest, these are 15, 16, 17 year old kids out there and sometimes that mystique translates right into points against some teams. Not so against others, and that sure won't be the case against Riverdale. That's been one of the most refreshing things about this move to 6A, at least for me, is playing against more teams that expect to win. Heck Riverdale's the same way, you all have just been doing it longer! Anyway here's to a great game, and hopefully one that everyone's going to talk about for years!
  8. De'Andre Purty was as good as advertised. Any time Maryville has been challenged this year, it's been when the opponent has a solid back - Purty for the Admirals, Alcoa's Jaron Toney, Dorian Cozart at Catholic… Anyway, loved the game tonight - what a fight. I don't want to overlook anyone else we've yet to play, but so far from what we've seen this season, it's looking like in this new classification system Farragut is the new Knox Central for the Rebels - it's going to be Maryville and Farragut's division, winner take all. I'd even go so far as to say Farragut launches straight into being Maryville's #2 rival (behind Alcoa of course - shoot Alcoa could handle pretty much anyone this year, forget classifications). Looking forward to seeing you all from Farragut again here in a few weeks; I wouldn't be surprised a bit if both teams are still around. Go Rebs!
