  1. Hey Howdy Doody, wrong again. I know the person your talking about but I dont know if he has a coacht screen name or not. I've been a cubs fan and never tried to get the basketball coaches removed. I have talked about the way they treated the kids in the locker room after a game. By putting the loss on the kids and not taking responsabilty for their mistakes, like bad substitutions, not calling time out when they should have, bad or no play calling, and so on. I dont remember talking about the football coach, but I can if you wont me to. As for why you hav'nt heard from me for a while.Maybe I just dont have a dog in the hunt anymore. And to tell the truth, the biggest reason I ever posted was to get a rise out of you, AND IT WORKED.
  2. HEY HOWDY DOODY, CONNMAN HERE, GLAD YOU MISSED ME BUT DONT CONFUSE ME WITH SOMEONE ELSE. I JUST HAV'NT HAD TIME TO PLAY WITH YOU.
  3. WELL AFTER CHEATHAMS WIN TONIGHT OVER EAST ROBERTSON, 47 TO 6, I GUESS WHAT EVERYONE IN THE STANDS LAST YEAR WAS SAYING WAS RIGHT. "LAST YEARS LOUSEY SEASON IS ON THE COACH". OTHER THAN 3 SENIORS THAT GRADUATED AND AND A COUPLE OF FRESHMAN THAT CAME IN, MOST OF THIS WINNING TEAM WAS SITTING ON THE BENCH LAST YEAR! YES THEY WERE FRESHMAN LAST YEAR, BUT THE PLAYERS THE COACH TRIED TO WIN WITH HAD NO HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE EITHER, AND ALOT OF THEM ARE NO LONGER EVEN PLAYING. BOTTOM LINE IS CHEATHAM COULD HAVE STARTED THOSE FRESHMAN, WHICH HAVE BEEN PLAYING TOGETHER SINCE JR. PRO, BUT CHOSE TO PLAY A BUNCH OF KIDS THAT DID'NT EVEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY FOOTBALL. I GUESS COACH DID LEARN FROM HIS MISTAKES, HES STARTING A COUPLE OF FRESHMAN THIS YEAR, AS HE SHOULD. GOING TO BE A GOOD YEAR!
  4. HEY bigdaddy67, Hows it looking at cub country this year? I think 2 a days ended today and I was wondering if you still think all those youngsters are going to come out "kicking butt and taking names". I thought connor was going to be the QB but Im hearing brinkly is taking a bunch of snaps too, is he going to be the backup QB? Is the OL and DL set or are they still trying to figure them out? I know by the end of last year they had the right guys on the line, finally. And the BIG QUESTION, what about corners??? I know your pumped and ready to see whats going to happen this season, its gotta be better than last year.Talk to soon.
  5. I posted a reply yesterday on this thread to bigdaddy67 regarding howdoitknow being banned from coacht. scaldeddog17 responded with an explanation on why howdoitknow was banned. and today those post have disappeared from coacht, whats up with that?
  6. hey howdoitknow sorry i hav nt replied lately i ve been on vacation. we were discussing the possibility of double disappointment on another thread but after reading your post on this one i thought we would just take it up from here. you mentioned a half a dozen players that were underachievers because they " just were nt football players". and here you name a dozen or so you expect allot out of this year. so here's my point; the underachievers you speak of were 1 sophomore and the rest juniors. now most of the ones you expect to be performers are freshman and an eight grader coming in. so the point im trying to make is that you, and the coaches, had 2 or 3 years to see what those guys could do. so if they were nt football players, why were the expectations so high. and you ve only had 1 year see what the new guys can do, but again high expectations. honestly i hope your right this year, but i was hoping you were right last year also. i guess we will see in 13 weeks!
  7. Sounds like last season you had 6 players with little or no experience that did'nt live up to expectations and this year you have 14 with little experience but high expectations. Sounds like double the disappointment this year! good luck.
  8. Cheatham gets a big win tonight at mont. cent. They play waverly tomorrow, if they play as well as they have in the past couple of weeks, anything is possible but they have to shut down the kid that scored 40+ points on them last time they met. Coach needs to put someone in his jock strap. Not that it matters
  9. howdoitknow, I sense a lot of hostility in your posts. Maybe you should seek some anger management counseling. Did you REALLY say that individual stats dont matter? What is that person at the scorers table writing in that book during the game? I have never heard of a TEAM getting a scholarship because of the team stats. And as for the coaches have you ever heard the expression " we'll just have to agree to disagree". cause I do like them. I like Obama too but I dont like his job performance.
  10. Hello Howdoitknow, Im glad you like my post, the only reason I post is to humor you. I couldn t help but to notice you were quick to defend the football coach but you had nothing to say about how good the basketball coaches were doing. Are you seeing things as I do now? Also I was wondering which one of my many failures in my life do you think was the biggest one? Yenom, I do like the cheatham coaches. I just think they should be doing things different, after all it aint working now. I like that idea of becoming a teacher and coach, I think Ill check into that.
  11. Respect is earned not given, coacht is the place to voice an opinion, you dont have to agree with it. If your not from elizabethton or know anything about them, then you need not comment on things you know nothing about. And it does matter what the coaching staff has done. They are hired to teach and develop kids into ball players. If they are not doing that properly then they need to give it up and move on.
  12. Cheatham took another beat down tonight. Mont Cent came to town and beat them 40 to 60something. I know all the cheatham talk is about how young they are but they seem to be getting worse every game instead of getting better. They played better against Rossview, Kenwood and Station Camp than they have against any district team. I also know howdoitknow gets upset if anyone says bad things about cheatham coaches, but somethings not right there either. There seems to be a different starting line up every game. They played the whole bench tonight, for reasons unknown. It seems they are putting lesser talented players in to motivate the top eight to play better, ( they must of got that from the football coach ) when they need to concentrate on making the top eight better. REMEMBER 6 OF THE TOP 8 HAVE VERY LITTLE EXPERINCE. You get game experience by being in the game. They took the best shooter out of the game in the 3rd and never put him back in???? Any coach can take talented players and win, it takes a good coach to take not so talented players and teach them to win. Dont wont to hurt anyones feelings, but I probably did. sorry.
  13. Waverly beat the pants off cheatham tonight, 50 to 85, would have been worse if wavo had not put in thier jv. Vogul had 11 3 pointers. I dont know what is going on at cheatham, the more they play the worse they get, they still cant handle a press and dont seem to know how to press. Vogul shot at will from the 3 point line, nobody even close to him. After halftime wavo went on a ten point run, then cheatham coach pulled all the starters. I guess it gave the second string some valuble experience.
  14. Cheatham should have beat Harpeth, they had more problems than just the guards, they did nt play well at all. number 34 scored pretty well but the other big men did nt produce last night. They could nt handle the press at all. They will come around, soon I hope, just need to get everyone playing well at the same time. Cheatham went to stewart co tonight, I did nt make the trip but heard they lost by about 10.
  15. Howdoitknow, Im sorry if i offended you, the fans or the coaches. I did nt mean to cause such a stink. In my OPINION it looked like the CW coaches changed things that helped their team and Cheatham did nt change anything, IN MY OPINION, im sorry if that upset you or anyone else. As for the "coaches blaming the players" I said i HEARD that, I was not part of the conversation, I was just standing close enough to hear it. I dont know if it was someone related to a player or just a fan. I guess if you think he's an idiot thats your opinion. Again i was not trying to be negative about cheatham.
  16. I assure you that none of the kids were blamed for the game. Actually they were praised for how well they played the first half. And several of the kids were praised for how well they played and all were given praise for how they're getting better. Several players were challenged to play better...a common theme when you play on any team, anywhere. But none were blamed for the loss. Actually they were asked to forget all about the game and get ready for their next 4 game stretch, in which they have good chances to win some games. If they can win 3 out of the next 4 then they can be at 3-3 in the district and sitting in good shape. I just wanted to clear the air about that. Thanks for clearing that up, that probably came from the parent of a kid that didnt get to play as much as daddy thought he should have.
  17. Welcome yenom, Cheatham played creekwood well in the first quarter, about a 4 point difference. I think cw underestimated cheatham a little at the start. Cheatham looked really good untill cw coaches adjusted after the first and made things a little harder. The big difference came after halftime. CW Coaches adjusted even more and Cheatham Coaches DID NOT. CW cameout and dominated cheatham for the entire half. Cheatham has some young talent that just needs some time to get better and the coaches need some time to figure out how to compete with some really good teams. It seems that we are being out coached as much or more than we are being out played. After all the coaches are a pretty young group also. Cheatham will be a team to fear in the near future. I was actually at this game, and from I saw, the Creekwood coaches did change it up and go to a full court press and a zone press at some times. It looked like the Cheatham kids couldn't handle the pressure very well against Creedwood's better athletes and size. They started turning the ball over a lot and couldn't hit their shots when they actually got them. It seems like Cheatham's whole team is young kids though. They look tiny. But a couple of them can play. I know the Cheatham coaches somewhat and they seem pretty basketball savvy. I'm sure they had something in place to beat the press, but against a man press the player's have to handle the pressure and get the ball up the floor themselves. Whether that's to do with not being coached in practice how to combat the pressure or not, I don't know. And that is the coaches job to have them ready for that possibility. But I'm not so sure they can simulate the length and size of Creekwood in practice, ha ha, as would any team have a problem doing. And the Cheatham coaches didn't go out there and dribble and pass the ball, the players did. And the Cheatham players seemed smaller and less athletic, so they made more mistakes. I'll never put the blame on the players for a loss, because I've always believed and heard that it's always on the coach. But there's something to be said for a player's talent level and what grade they're in. But it is the coach's responsibility to have them ready to play, and I'll never change that stance. The Cheatham players did come out with a lot of intensity and hustle to start the game, and played hard throughout. But Creekwood's size and ability eventually overtook the Cubs. The big kid Cheatham just got back looked pretty good early on. He seemed to get tired quickly though and missed some lay ups he should have made later in the game. I assume he's back off injury and just out of shape. Look's like a definite football player though, ha ha, he can surely take up some space. Creekwood will win this district hands down. I'll go ahead and anoint them myself if needs be. I've seen every team play except for Stewart, Camden, and Harpeth, and they are definitely the best team. Of course someone could always play an inspired game and beat them, but that seems unlikely. I hear Camden is pretty good, I'd like to see them soon. Good luck to everyone playing Friday. Yeah your right, I was just a little p,ed after the game. I heard from a parent that the coaches blamed the kids after the game was over for the loss. Told them they played with them for one quarter then let CW run away with it. Cheatham is inexperienced for the most part. The only senior #34 has about 2 years of varsity play, hes a good 3 point shooter but they shut him down. Next would be the only sophomore #32, he got a lot of playing time last year as freshman but still has some growing to do. The big kid #44 was playing is third varsity game, #20 a junior came on board in the middle of last year, #10 is a freshman. I hope they will be able to compete with Harpeth, Waverly and Stewart Co. but not betting on it.

  19. buteo you must have been in the hills smoking weed with defense if you think cheatham has a talented QB returning. The first QB to take the field last year was a sophomore that had O experince and it showed, after 6 or 7 games he was replaced with a freshman, that is a great football player but is not a QB. The only player on the team with QB experience is a freshman that played a little corner and a game or two as a reciever, he never took a snap. So its anybodys quess as to who the QB will be this year. Maybe there is an 8th grader coming in that will save the day.
  20. Your an idiot, as howdoitknow said, cheatham is playing a bunch of freshman in both sports. I dont care how good of a coach you are there is a big difference between a 14 year old and a 17 or 18 year old.
  21. What was the outcome of the Harpeth, Sycamore game?
  22. I was not comparing football to basketball in regards to a freshmans ability of playing with the older guys. I was simply referring to cheatham being picked to end up last, and hoping that pick was wrong, as the football pick was. But so far its looking like the pickers know what they're talking about.
