  1. Way to go Lady Rebels...I think that one would count as a "quality" win!!! To start some discussion here...it seemed there were more fouls called in this one than had been all day. Was the game really that more aggressive....I wasn't there, so I don't know.
  2. Since Greene hosts the Ladies Classic, I doubt any of our local teams will travel.
  3. Coach Dwight Renner is doing pretty well. He has had some health problems over the last few years, but I saw him at several games this year including the sub-state game at SG. The three former SG Ladies basketball coaches were honored, which included Claude Wallen, Renner, and Ricker. Dwight was "grinning like a possum".
  4. I was thinking I had heard that from a friend in Newport. Looks like they were doing real good this season until Morgan got hurt. I went to high school at Cocke County with Morgan's Dad. I knew she was awesome, but I didn't realize how much the team depended on her until she was gone. They just fizzled out.
  5. South Greene lost early in the season in double over-time to Cocke County and then lost to them in the Ladies Classic. Cocke County had a team that could have given Morristown West a run for their money had their star point guard Morgan Buda not gotten injured late in the season.
  6. Amen!!!! Anyone know what grade Ms Brittin is in She is a great player. Great game by both teams. She is a Junior.
  7. Sorry to say we won't get to see another North Greene game this year. A devastating last second loss. The Lady Huskies shoulda/coulda/woulda won this one, but it just didn't happen. Keep your heads up girls.
  8. Greene County is proud of you North Greene. You played a good game and showed them you were the real deal.
  9. Keep it up Lady Huskies.... A little trivia if you didn't know. Mariah Britton is the daughter of the former Penny Gunter who played point guard for South Greene during their glory days.
  10. Its not just size underneath for Greeneville, JW....its presence. Raney Storey is a Beast underneath and neither her or Sam Fender is the least bit timid on the boards. And while the girls will miss the sophomore PG, Shipley and Kelly are experienced and quite talented. Stacia Crumbley is a fine young coach with good instincts and she has put together an extremely talented and well balanced team that plays stingy defense and can hit their free-throws....when the competition gets to this stage sometimes thats just the edge you need. A "BEAST" for sure. I don't know how many bodies of other team members I have seen flying through the air. And I'm not saying she fouled...she just stands there with her hands up and they run into her. I said somewhere else that she's like a brick wall. It's amazing. Good luck Devils!
  11. What about quality opp.? Here we go again...another flatlander that thinks there are NO quality team East of Knoxville. SG and GHS are the real deal...let's go down there and prove it and see each other in the finals...GHS might even have to do it with one hand literally tied behind our back...now wouldn't THAT be somethin'??? Ok for the record, Benton, TN isn't flat......so I don't think its safe to assume logcabinman is a "flat-lander" Now LCM, aside from McMinn and Upperman who we will concede are quality wins....both of them, what would you consider Polks other quality opposition to be? I guess Greene County is just going to have to show them what "quality" is...lol!!! I would love to see a 5th go for SG/Greeneville. I don't know if my heart can stand it, but I'd like to see it.
  12. AMEN!!! Go get 'em girls! Play hard, play smart, and drive it like you stole it!!! Greene County/Greeneville is cheering you on!!!
  13. Well okay, let me think. The BRAC district was full of QUALITY this year. South Greene is amazing, Greeneville is amazing (I hope the boro gets to see that, though Christopher may or may not play). Chuckey-Doak is no laughing matter and neither is Cumberland Gap. With that said...SG should not have lost to Cumberland Gap. They were playing without their two senior starters with injuries (Dye and Crum). The District Championship between SG/Greeneville was probably one of the most impressive games I have seen though. Both teams played spectacular. It was a double over-time game and was back and forth all night. Very exciting. Okay, I'll call that one a quality win. As for a quality opponent, (Not that Greeneville isn't, but I'm trying to figure out what logcabinman is looking for) SG went into double overtime with Cocke County High School. CCHS is a AAA team who could have ran with Morristown West had they not lost their star player, Morgan Buda, due to an injury late in the season. Both teams had all players that night. SG lost, but it could have gone either way. Wilson Central was certainly not the team they were last year, not sure I would call that a quality win. However, SG pretty much had this same team last year when they defeated Morristown West in the Ladies Classic and then played an outstanding Wilson Central team led by Jasmine Hassel who signed with the University of Georgia. In this game SG battled back from being down by 20 and lost by 1 in overtime. Does this help any?
  14. And I will vouch for NE15 on this one. There is no exaggeration whatsoever. Any team who can overcome the type of game those girls had to, should have an automatic by to state....lol. Oh well, they both made, so as you said "that is the past".
  15. Wish I could be there, but work won't allow it this year. I will have the radio/internet blasting the entire 4 days and will wear coacht out though. You'll be sure to hear from me.
  16. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the 'boro this year. We have internet broadcast parties planned here in Greeneville though....lol.
  17. I'm pulling for North Greene. They may be small, but they are quick. Look out for Mariah Britton, Dakota White, Haley Vaughn, Shyler Miller, and Laiken Morrow. If they don't let the bright lights and their nerves get to them, they could be a big threat.
  18. Thanks Champs. Morristown West is the real deal. They usually play in the Ladies Classic, but traveled to the West somewhere (I'm sure someone know's where, I just don't remember) where they received their only loss this year to a team from Texas. They usually destroy their opponents. With that said, I saw MJ play each game in Greeneville and I believe it would be a toss up.
  19. I think so since Murfreesboro is in the CST. That has to be confusing to the East TN people, though, with the hours difference. It is confusing when local stations annonce them at those times without saying CST. But yes, that is CST. So we can expect to hear North Greene at 11:00 EST.
  20. Thats kinda what I was thinking. South Greene has learned to adapt pretty well to slow down ball and it has resulted in 30-40 steals in the past few games. With that said, I know nothing of the Polk team, so the game is left to be seen. I would love to see a rematch of GC and South Greene. I think South Greene has spent this past year preparing for them. I'm still a little disappointed in their shooting, they have won many of their last games with their defense. They are better shooters than we have been seeing. Ansley Ricker is a beast when she is hitting her shots. I just hope that have it when they need it. Play hard Lady Rebels. I can't be there, but you can bet I'll hear every word. EYE OF THE TIGER!!!
  21. Crow could be the main course for dinner....lol. It ain't over til it's over!
  22. Would be AWESOME!!! I read in the Greeneville Sun that Chandler played some Saturday, do you all expect her to play?
  23. Good Luck Trojans from Greene County.
  24. Should be fun, I hope SG can play their game. I don't want to be yawning through the entire thing.
