  1. I thought this would be an interesting topic to follow through the season. I will start by saying McMinn Central has a decent staff with 3 seniors and 1 soph that are seeing starting action. A couple of others that have pitched a little and 1 freshman that is seeing alot of relief action. The Chiefs showed up big last evening with #10 ,Allen I beleive was his name, a senior. Great job pitching in a wind storm.
  2. How about McKinney, the big freshman pitcher for Central. Sidearm pitchers are hard to get get used to I guess.
  3. We have so many big freshman on the sidelines this year, that if they put on as they should, we'll have good size, if that equates to better.
  4. Michael's is very good. Located on the right behind KFC as you enter Etowah. About 2-3 mile from the school.
  5. Next year we'll have two QB's with a lot of experience, but with no running game that you can build on, we'd better find some receivers who know how to come back to the ball. We have several tall boys we are not using this year at all but we'll use 5'7" receivers that have not caught a pass all year. go figure. Go to the shotgun and use tightends mixed with a couple of 6'3" wideouts and see what happens
  6. JV did well last night, ringing up a win on Meigs. Didn't see it but was glad to hear about it. Go utes. We'll be ok next year if we can keep these guys togather. Again, sorry to see the seniors go out like this. Thanks seniors for all you have given to the program. Go Blue. And do you really think those cows cause slow Alcoa?
  7. Yes, it was somewhat expected with a lot of seniors leaving and a small inexperienced o-line. But I don't believe anyone could have foreseen a winless season for the Chargers. Should be a lot better next year, may even have a winning record.
  8. Well the D looked good for a half, just ran out of steam in the second. Offence couldn't move the ball again on the ground and when we'd see a good pass, which was not very often, but when a good pass came, we had no one to catch it. Good effect, the boys played hard but got to be able to move the ball. Screen passes & use of the tight end may help but it looked like Levi had about 1 second at the most to get rid of the ball. Rich got a good punt but that was about it for the kicking game. I wondering why Wyatt wasn't running the ball more but I geuss he's pretty beat up by now. Now we have to worry about Alcoa. Too bad for the seniors to end on this sorry night. By half time it'll be 35 to 0. Poor little Blue Boys, they'll be Black and Blue Boys next Saturday. Go Chargers, next year will be here before you know it. Hit the weight room boys. You'll be so much better next year.
  9. How did this get started? The idea behind this type of forum is "Freedom of speech" with a little fun. Yes you can be serious if you like, but man, don't go getting mad. The Charger are not very good this year, no secret. Wishing they were is not going to make them any better. But, we play the lotto and hope to get rich over night so why not project a little of that wishful thinking toward our Blue Boys. Go Chargers, Central 27 Sweetwater 15

  11. Hope for the best, expect the worst and look forward to next year. Last chance for a little self respect before the Alcoa game. I geuss I'll be at both games and we'll just have to see what happens. Good luck Chargers and don't give up.
  12. If the coaching staff has given up on this years team, why aren't we seeing the under classmen playing more? Some of these kids are not even getting to play in JV games. Next year we'll have the same problem "No Experience". You have to play these kids, all of these kids to have any rational expectation of having a better season next year. Score was 35-7 Friday and he was still playing the starter, come on coach, at least let the parents see there kids play alittle. These kids will not want to play next year. At least make something good come out of this year. Give the kids some playing time. What do the rest of the faithful think?
  13. Central will finally find a way to get there offence firing on all cylinders. But still it may not be enough. Chargers 18 cheifs 24
  14. Some great comments men, this is the kind of positive energy we need to endure week after week even beyond the football "playing" season. Community spirit is what it's going to take to propel and sustain the program. We need not waste time and energy pointing fingers and pasting blame. If we (the community) would promote our program the kids would want to play. Also, it's important that the coaching staffs from all the sports work togather and not against each other. I know for a fact kids are encourage or should I say persuaded to stay in one sport. This goes for the football coaches too. If a kid want to play football and baseball, Goodin and Hart should be ok with this and even make provisions for a kid to do both (I use Goodin and Hart as an example only). The AD should be the first one to make sure we allow and encourage kids to be involved in as many sports as they can handle and still do well in their studies. Kids involved in sports learn so much more about the battles of life than those who aren't involved.
  15. Is Central a football school? That is an interesting question and who really knows the answer. The more important question is, "what makes a football school"? Did anyone catch the ESPN show "The Boys of Fall"? What a great program and in it you'll find the answer to the question. I want to think we (Central) could have a really good football program. I believe we have the talent as far as the kids go, but the talent is only a small portion of what of what it takes to have a sucessful program. Talent will change from year to year and if a program is solely built on the talent of a few kids, well you get this up and down motion that reflex that. A great program will have HEART that isn't connected to a couple of kids. Great programs are build on tradition and pride. Character and strenght of the coach and staff. How many coaches have we had at Central since it begin, does any one know. Get a good coach with ties to Central and of good character and the program will be sucessful in time.

  17. Never put a kid down men, these young men play because they want to, or at least that should be the reason. Football and sports in general, is for fun and teaching and learning of character. CHARACTER is what I want my son to learn with this team and any team he may be a part of. The lesson of character comes from many areas and many people. Your coaches should be a main source for any team. Coaches, these kids are looking to you and for an example they can build on. Time for a little self examination guys. Are you doing all you can, first to proof that age old adage that "winning is not everything". I know alot of you may not agree with me, and I'm not saying I like what I'm seeing week after week, I believe we have the talent and it's troubling to see us shoot our selves in the foot time and time again. And as far a the QB goes, the first quality I look for isn't speed or how far he can throw a ball but I believe the QB should be a natural leader, one with a degree of character that can't be taught out on the field but has to come from a his God given ability and the up bringing he has already received from family and other people that has set that good example. Do we have a QB that is ready to lead HIS team? I see one but what I see doesn't really matter, but the cream will rise to the top.
  18. Everyone is ready to give up on the Blue, these kids may surprize the county tonight. If the "D" can hold for a half we'll see a good game. Coach Goodin's "Boys of Fall" will be ready to play, lets all go support our boys no matter what color you wear. Go Blue!
  19. Blue Nation is going to rule. Go big blue. Ok, now back to the real world. QB Wyatt Barnett, Englewood native, is big and a natural leader. He will account for a score or two himself. Defense is where we will be coming up short I'm afraid. We have several would-be starters on the injured list and not enough depth to over come that. Don't throw in the towel though. These kids will play hard and I'm excited about great opening game.
