  1. We want to be better than Greeneville. They set the bar we want to push it up a little. I know if this attitude continues in this area, there is going to be some real good football come out of the East. It is truly great to see rivals support each other the way that was demonstrated in this series. I guess the game of high school football can teach the spectator some things about life also. If we let it. In all humility, It has been a long hard journey and it feels great to finally accomplish this goal. I would only wish every team and player could experience it and I hope they will. I guess now it is time to defend it Huh? That will be fun... at least for us spectators
  2. It's because Elliot goes out and recruits them from other schools. Only the good ones though. Carter County all-star band. Has a nice ring to it Huh?
  3. I think the coaches all knew the threat/s you offered. Had we not disturbed your offence we would had been in a whole heap of trouble. That was obvious in the third quarter on that side line pass. That was an example of the skill and danger we faced. Fortunately our defense was ready and executed the game plan. There is nothing to take away from Springfield and their abilities. It was an exciting game to say the least. It is because of teams like Spingfield that we came out the winner yesterday. It challenges us to better ourselves. Thank you for your congrats and kindness. Look forward to see you all in the future. Hope your young men realize the determination they demonstrated is what wins games and builds character. The difference in the two teams was we had a game plan that was well executed and it disturbed your game plan. You never know how a plan will turn out till it is put to the test. We did not know but it turned out good for us. Go Jackets...Go Cyclones
  4. I think we knew we would have to upset #5's world to win this game. The defense did a great job of keeping him on the run (fortunately in the wrong direction.) To those who attempt to redirect all of the credit to Maupin and Rollins, it was a team effort that won the game and the defense (local boys), was a HUGE,HUGE part of that win. All of the talk of the Jacket's strength, talent and endurance, spoken on this forum was true. You folks have a great program at Springfield and it will be exciting to meet again in the future. I for one hope we do. Go Jackets ... Go Cyclones.
  5. Envy is a ugly beast and you just keep feeding it. Would you reject a Maupin or Rollins if they wished to play for your team (whatever team that might be)? Has your team EVER took on a player outside of your area? Secondly, in one breath you congratulate us on the win and the next breath you attempt to tear us down by this childishness. You can have your back handed compliment and keep it. There are a lot of genuine folks here from all different schools who truly are proud of what these young men accomplished and backed us throughout the playoffs. Even had one at the game from Sullivan South showing his support for us. Saw some from Green Co. (Greenville). These are true supporters, not like yourself. So we really do not need your "congratulation" ... keep it. Don't insult us by attempting to portray your compliments as sincere or legit. We are just humble Carter Co. Allstars but we can see true sincerity when it is shown.
  6. That is why we feed ours the opposing Quarterbacks . Grrrr !!! Problem is Springfield's starting Quarterback is kinda small and he is hard to catch. When we catch him and we will, he just won't be enough to satisfy these big fellars. We will need the back up Quarterback also, to fill their little tummies. It is almost food time .
  7. OK.. Last post for now. As I said, kids are not born with it it is developed. If it were not so then these kids would still be pooping their diapers and sucking their thumbs. Somewhere along the line somebody "coached" them to stop and do it differently. That is what coaches do.
  8. I have to go, It has been great talking to you all, even the haters but I need to do something constructive with this day. I only have so many. Gotta make the best of them. Later all...Frog out!!!
  9. I don't think we can paint with a broad brush, some leave for the reasons you mentioned but there are some who do see better chances in other schools. There are some kids who come to these schools and do no participate nor desire to participate in sports. It has nothing to do with sports but rather education.
  10. I am saying talents are developed. You are not born with them. There has always been and always will be coaches that can develop talent and kids with the desire and ability to meet the challenges. Maupin an Rollins are not the only kids that have skills. Others do but have yet to develop them . So the answer is... we cannot know till one is coached to meet his or her true potential. When Maupin and Rollins are gone we will see.
  11. I am sure it would be and that is not what I am saying. I am saying that often times kids come to Elizabethton, they need remedial help. I am not saying that about Cloudland but it is indeed a fact that some schools are very lax in enforcing curriculum and the kids are not prepared to advance, even though they are advanced to the next grade. I am sure that your wife and sister would concur as to what I am saying even about some kids that come to Cloudland from other schools.
  12. Don't take it personally but my wife, as a substitute teacher knows differently. It may not be so where you are but here it is a fact. There is a difference.
  13. No, I was talking about those kids who chose to come to Elizabethton would be home watching from their couch but now instead, they are headed for the state championship game. As far as success of the team if Maupin and the other couple you allude to were not there, we cannot know. We are not in that situation. If they were not there then I am sure Whitten would coach some other kids to fill their positions. They are not the only kids that has ever played for Elizabethton. We have always had talent from Elizabethton and surrounding areas Maupin and Rollins are nothing new. Again, IT IS TEAM WORK. Do you think all we need to put on the field is Maupin and Rollins come Sat. in Cookville?
  14. Obviously you have not been to an Elizabethton football game or you are willingfully ignorant. Our team is loaded with talent, even in our back up area. When you play the caliber teams such as Greeneville and Nolensville you don't use your second string . Why should I even have to be explaining this?
