  1. Ur right , he cant do it for them , but it is his responsibility to teach in such a manner , so that the kids can understand his style and what he wants to accomplish, if he cant communicate that to the players , then he is not a head coach. have u really watched practice any for the last 2 years?[/quote I think you are part of the problem over at Coffee County and I can only guess that you are a parent who is not happy. If you have been with the program for more than 18 years then maybe since you think you know about head coaching, you ought to apply for the job....Excuse me, I don't think you are qualified so therefore, I think you need to quit throwing stones at other coaches. You evidently are not happy with anyone that comes over there to try to help the girls get better. Have you ever thought that it is not the coach communication that is lacking, it may be parents like you that cause the kids to rebel against authority. I teach my children to respect authority because that is the right thing to do. I have the utmost respect for coaches because not only do they have to try and teach their kids, they have to deal with parents just like you.......I believe that we need to let the coaches do their jobs and stand behind them as parents and APPRECIATE THAT THEY ARE TAKING THE TIME TO TEACH THEM!!!
  2. I agree with you, give him a chance because I know personally that he definitely can turn programs around and with the great group of freshman coming in, it is only positive all the way around. He knows the game and if the parents would just back him, instead of trying to find fault in him, the sky is the limit for the team. It is easy to find fault in anyone if you look close enough....Take a look at the positives thus far and the program wasn't great when he came. He makes the girls work but there is nothing wrong with that because it takes hard work to get better. I want a coach that is going to push my child to be the best that they can be. I want a coach that makes the children understand that you have to respect others and has morals and values and structure. There is no coach or person that is going to please everyone but if you just knew how much passion he has for these girls in making them better, you would never be able to say anything because HE CARES.... AND HE DEFINITELY KNOWS THE GAME...PARENTS SUPPORT THE COACH AND WATCH AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!
  3. Wow!!! What a great group of talented ladies! I have enjoyed watching all of the girls this year and they have all grown into great athletes....I have enjoyed the parents as well, whether it be at the games during the schoolyear or traveling in the summer with AAU. I will miss that this year but I take with me the friendships that I have made along the way and I am sure the girls all feel the same way. We will have to go watch them play in college and continue cheering them on. Congratulations to the Lady Blaze and wow what a game for Kortnay who had that "refuse to lose" attitude and again, stepped it up to make sure we kept playing.....and just a sophomore - the sky is the limit as she just keeps getting better and better!!! Great job and keep it going!!!! The Lady Blaze are on a mission again and are moving forward.......Congratulations to all of them as it takes the effort of all to pull out that "win." Thanks to the dedication of the coaches who have put in their time, dedication, and have been there for the girls all season long....Great girls, great coaches, and great parents to go with it!! As we go forward without Katie on the court, the girls will continue to play with her in their minds and heart and try to make it to the finish line....We all will pray for a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her again on the court next year. We definitely miss her on the court!
  4. Katie Smith from Blackman went to the doctor yesterday....Not good news....Dr. said it could be ACL again but too much fluid to be sure....Next step is MRI on Friday.... I really hope she will be back soon as we are now heading into the Regionals and need her. I knew when I saw her face at the end of the Riverdale game that she definitely was in alot of pain..........She is in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!!!
  5. Katie Smith is going to the doctor today...She will keep us updated on prognosis....She is in our prayers and hopefully, we will be seeing her back on the court soon... She is a great girl and is a great athlete at whatever she does!!! Kortnay has definitely stepped it up and kept the Lady Blaze fire lit!!! She has definitely shown that she does not want this season to end and is ready to take it all the way...Proud of her for coming through and keeping us in this run!!! I am proud of all of the Lady Blaze and if we can continue with the momentum, we can take it to the finish line!
  6. Congratulations to Riverdale for taking the win last night! It was a hard fought one and I can say I am very glad that I got to see it...It was the most exciting game I have seen all year long. I am very proud of the Lady Blaze for their hustle, heart and teamwork!!! We executed offensively great - Big T came in and perked us up and made her presence....What an assett!!!! Defensively, we were tough too. The only thing I see that we may need work on is boxing out on rebounds and that is fixable....All five girls on the court must find a girl and box her out...We can't give a great team like Riverdale 3 - 4 shots on offense and expect to win the game.....The hustle on both teams - unbelievable!!! Thanks to both teams for giving it your all and making it a game to remember.... Good luck to all coming out of our District....Riverdale, Lavergne, Siegel and of course, our Lady Blaze....Riverdaleman- you got your wish!!! It looks like you may see Lavergne like you wanted ....
  7. Oldhoopsdad - you don't know me too well but I'm definitely not trying to sell anyone on anything but the facts....I know that Riverdale/Blackman are rivalries and I also know the two teams also have great respect for one another. These are all good teams that are left in the final four and have great players. Tomorrow is another day, Blackman girls are coming and win or lose, will be going to Regionals. They are not picked to win tomorrow....If they do, even you will be surprised!!! Our goal is to make it back to where we left off last year and we will take it one game at a time....Next one on the list is Riverdale. I don't care who likes us or who don't because that is not going to make a difference in the outcome...GO BLACKMAN!
  8. Blazeallthewaze - I think like you in alot of what you are saying and I truly "believe" in the Lady Blaze. I think as you said coming into the Blackman/Lavergne game last night that we had nothing to lose because everyone had us already picked to go down. I think that is definitely the case going into this game against Riverdale. We have nothing to lose again as we are going in as underdogs...I do think that if our girls play like they did last night against Lavergne, with heart and passion, and the intensity that they want it - ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE AND I BELIEVE!!! They just need to go in and play ball and have fun because no one ever thought they would be where they are......We only can look at one game at a time and now the focus is on Riverdale! If it is our time to peak as a team, we have definitely picked a good time! Go Blackman!
  9. Rd it is definitely a small world when I just happen to meet you on a job interview and never knew you were one and the same as riverdaleman.......Then as I would read some of your post, I put it all together. I am glad to put a face with the name and I do respect your loyalty to Riverdale. I think that after my child graduates this year, I will still be loyal to the Blaze because they have been such a big part of our lives so I certainly understand your sincere loyalty. I agree with you that Coach Maxwell is doing well and she has a great staff behind her which is also solid. Her record speaks for itself...... There is still games to be played and it should be a fun ride....I love all of these girls - from Riverdale, Lavergne, Siegel, Smyrna and Oakland. We have bonded with families and their kids and have played on the same team in AAU for years. There is talent in all of these schools and during the season, we get to cheer our kids on but at the same time know that at the end of the day, we have the same ultimate goals for our kids. Basketball is definitely a great sport which keeps our kids busy but also in the end, is an ultimate factor to help them in their future years as an adult. I was Blessed to have my children end up at Blackman because it isn't always just about basketball but they also have a very spiritual coach who looks beyond the game of basketball and gets them ready for the game of Life.
  10. Well hello there Jazzy!!! I can't believe this weather and that every time we go to play Lavergne, it snows!!!!! It has happened on every game thus far.....It is always great to play against the people that you have spent about all summer with because win/lose, you have such high respect for the parents and kids who put so much time into their passion-playing basketball!!! Anyway, it should be a great game and hopefully, we can keep the girls injury-free....... I am really going to miss all of this....But I guess I will have to come and watch everyone elses kids play. JD has had a great senior year!!!! She has been on fire and I am so happy for her!!! She is awesome along with the rest of the team. I know you are so proud!! I love her and wish her the best. As far as Shelby - I don't know about what she was going through....People say it may be senioritis but I just had to support her and pray that she would come around!!She doesn't talk much about basketball at home and so I don't know what was going on at practices, etc. She is looking like Shelby finally and I hope it continues straight through until the end........I am just glad to see her back!!! She just had to work it out on her own and we just had to support her until she did.
  11. Pearlball, I agree with your post....There is some good things happening if these girls are working together and the coach plays a big part on the positive outcome too. I don't have a daughter at Coffee County but I do know Mr. Muckle really well as a coach and an individual. He also coached my daughters and I have one that will be heading to college next year with a full scholarship in basketball. I attribute her success to having the great coaches, including Mr. Muckle, along the way. He truly cares about every one of the girls and the parents need to stand behind him and quit trying to find fault in him. You could not ask for a more knowledgeable, caring person who really wants to make these girls the best that they can be.
  12. Phargis, I have been reading these post for years and you are certainly correct because I had my button pushed the other night. One thing I can't stand is for referees to be unfair to kids who worked hard all year to be the best they can. It has been happening on and off all year. Now there has been some good ones. By good, I mean they are consistent in every call they make on both sides. Win or lose, it was a fair match. I can respect them for their loyalty to doing the right thing. My girl has played AAU ball with someone from every school in our district. I know there is a ton of talent in our district. I just want the best for all of them and make sure that they are not injured due to the calls not being made when they should and it then gets ugly with players getting hurt. I love all of these girls and before every game, I pray that they all stay healthy.
  13. Good Luck to all the teams in the District Tournament...You have worked hard all year to get this far and we definitely want the State Champs to be out of our District!!! I think without a doubt, that we do have the talent to do that....Congratulations to Riverdale on going through the District without a loss....That is certainly Impressive because it is by far, one of the toughest districts that we have ever encountered before....Every game this season was one that you had to come prepared for...There was no room to let your guard down...Any and all teams were competitive and did a great job!!! It should be a very interesting district tournament.....Whoever gets the honor of going to the state - This district should all stand behind them because they worked and fought really hard to get there!! All teams should be proud of their accomplishments..Good Luck and thanks for a great year of Basketball Ladies!!!
  14. I have to agree totally about the officiating lately... The game at Siegel tonight was by far the worst officiating I have ever seen and I have traveled all over the country watching games. I wonder if TSSAA knows how poor of a job these refs are doing and that it is just obvious to everyone even some of the Siegels own players on how poorly it was officiated. They are getting paid by TSSAA to do a job of officiating and that means to make sure that the games are called fairly. I do not know how these guys sleep at night as it is just pathetic and something needs to be addressed on the situation as it has totally gotten out of hand. I am not one that usually even comments on this post but something has to be done as these are kids just giving it their all to compete and play ball and for 5 players to have to play against 8 just really isn't right. By the way, I am not complaining because Blackman lost because we didn't, but it was definitely an unfair situation for the kids who work so hard to practice and then have three grown men who try to make their hard work all for nothing. I am standing up for our kids and I think there should be people to address this or it will continue.
