Yes, I would agree that Milan was the better team. Alcoa had been beat by Maryville for 9 years straight. After those losses, I have never stated that Alcoa was the better team. WE LOST THE GAME. Thank God that was not the case this year. With that said, here's to an injury free game and may the best team win! GO TORNADOES!!!!!

Okay. Remember you asked. While walking back to my vehicle after the game last year, I was discussing the game with a friend. Several of Milan's band members, along with what I thought were Milan fans, commented that Milan was a young team and they were not used to playing in that kind of game. They also stated that Milan did not play like they had during the season. Kinda what you stated above about executing. Again, these are the kinds of excuses that I am talking about. I again would say that Milan's lack of execution was due to a very good Alcoa team (both defense and offense). Rather than stating the obvious, seems like Milan fans wanted to excuse the loss to their lack of performance alone, rather than Alcoa just being the better team. Therefore, I tagged LAME excuses. Again, this was last years game and has no bearing whatsoever to this years game.

I tought Milan played well. Alcoa, I thought, was the team who could have played better. I dont think we gave up a blocked punt for a touchdown all year??? Milan just plainly got beat by a better team.

Well you got the "uneducated right." I knew I was going to get myself dragged into a stupid argument. I said show me some stats yes, but I also said that the stats wouldn't matter. The reason is that there is no common opponent. How do you know Milan would not do the same thing against that schedule? Did CAK and Loudon take starters out of every game at the half? I never said our schedule was not easier. In fact in one post I even agreed with that statement. That does not however mean that we are not as good as CAK and Loudon. It would be one thing to get on here and give a prediction about CAK/Loudon vs. Milan if that game were going to happen, but it isn't. Therefore, what is the point. The point is that some people don't think Milan is deserving. Those types of comments are made by disrespectful sore losers. I hope this has made my point clear. Man, I can't wait for Milan to bring that gold ball home on Friday. I wonder what people will say then. The question is: what are Milan fans going to say after the Tornadoes beat you for the second time in two years? All I can remember from last year after the game were a bunch of LAME, and I mean LAME, excuses!!!

I also would like to respond to this post. I agree that the Sudderth sisters bring tons of support and enthusiasm to the Alcoa games. When somebody yelled "we can't see", the sign was immediately put down. The sign is great and supports the teams theme this year. My only objection personally was when it was held up during a play so the fans behind couln't see the game. Keep the sign, it is great, hold it, wave it and swish it around between plays. The jugs, bells, and even the horn are great and show tremendous team support. When I made my post (with a tremendous headache) it was because of the continuous horn blowing. My apologies to all of you because I know that this group has Alcoa football running through their blood and I would not want to see that change. As for the paper, it is not my preference so I make sure to sit somewhere else. Again, it was not my intention to offend anyone. Hope you see you all in Cookeville. Thanks Footballmom! It was not our intention to disturb our own fans. All week long all I heard was how loud the 6000 seat stadium was going to rock and how there were never any fans from the visiting team in the stadium. Well, I must admit, it got under my skin. I wanted them to know that we back our Tornadoes 100% and no one does it like us!!! I guess it worked. I've heard that there will probably be more horns at State. Sorry, but this time its not us. Hopefully, they will be a little more "managed". I think most of us on the 50 are respectful of others, and would not want to intentionally ruin anyone's time. With that said, GO TORNADOES!!!!!

We sure did! However the Tornadoes get no respect for the win because Maryville is DOWN this year!!! I don't get what you are posting here! Maryville's only lost was to Alcoa and Saturday they play for the 6A Championship! I just don't get your point makes no sense! If are are so down why are they in the big dance! If they are down that must mean their other 13 opponents were down! I don't buy what you are selling! Zebra99, I was being totally sarcastic. Have you not been reading all the posts since the playoffs started??? No one we have played thus far has given our schedule this year any thought. Our Tornadoes are nationally ranked for a reason. Maryville is the #1 team in 6A and we totally handled them. (No slam to Maryville!) I'm pulling for you guys all the way! But this is a really good Alcoa team and it's about time they get the respect they deserve! GO TORNADOES!!!!

Well said! 5 of the six fans blowing the horns have been supporting Alcoa football since the 80's and probably well before. The sixth is curtently attending Alcoa and loved the horns! Enough said! GO TORNADOES!

Are you serious!! OMG..man give you guys some credit for making this far, which is the farthest a York team ever has been right?..and this is what Milan gets? Truth of the matter is that Milan mercy rules everyone because they score fast and get the ball back quickly! Last night might have been an exception to the rule, with the 1st string still in, but how would you know, we rotate players so often, is there really just 1 first string?? haha.. Another thing, if our "first string" guys played games just to mercy rule people, there would be NO DOUBT Gilbert would be challenging Alcoa's Toney for the TD record, and NO screwed up TSSAA voters could have left Avery out of the Mr. Football nomination because he would have had 200 tackles!! This I promise. Coach Morris is THE class act in high school football, I promise you with 10 minutes left, he knew anything could happen it IS the playoffs. He was not running up the score, merely insurance. Now thats all said let me give YOU a couple of game stats. Milan 43 York 15. Milan 14-0, York...basketball season Hang on Johnny! I dont like commenting on other threads, but since you brought it up....
