  1. 1. Yes, it is so easy to sit in the stands and say ugly things about the coaches and players that are trying to make a great team. It is so easy to sit in the stands and list three players that are on the bench that you feel are the pride of the county. Well, excuse me but, one of these players is in the rotation and getting plenty of playing time. He has really poured on the hustle in several games this year and has been contributing to the team. Two of the players that you listed are no longer on the team. One is graduated and the other is in the stands along with his friends, embarassing Oneida with his behavior. You can't be a player with an antitude and have parents who try to....excuse me. 2. You don't have to be the first on the floor at the start of the game either to be an important part of the team. You have things to offer at the right time. This is why we have a rotation system in B-Ball. It's called "being a team-player." It takes all to make a team. 3. It is also a shame that there are only two teams in the county and they can not support each other. The coaches of these teams have been good friends for many years and have even played B-ball together. I am so glad that the coaches from both teams involved have class and do not listen to the nonsense that is being stated. They are working to build the best program they can. 4. Come out and cheer the teams on to victory instead of having "Ocean front property in Arizona." If you are so wise and knowledgeable in B-ball, put your application in and maybe you will be put to work. Then, you can deal with players with attitudes, parents whose sons are Michael Jordan but can't convince the coach of this, players who thinks team rules do not apply to them...am I making my point? 5. Both schools have good players who are really trying and have coaches who are trying to help them to their best. 6. All I can say is, "Go Oneida and Go Scott!"
  2. We must not be watching the same ballgames. I see players being rotated. I thought only five could be on the floor at one time. I see players put on the court according to their abilities. I bet those players who have stepped up their production are seeing more playing time, right? Apparently the person/s you are wanting to "shine" have not met that expectation yet. It is so easy to blame someone else for our own incapabilities....especially the coach/teacher. etc. We need to look at the team (and I do mean team) as a whole. We need not look at individuals who we think should "shine." You play to win using the best combination of players you have. That combination of players can range from a freshman all the way to being a senior. There is no sports' law that states you must play all seniors or players from other sports. Let's support the team and staff with positives. Negative opinions only hurt the team and school. I read where they have won a few more games. Are they playing better? I have watched them three times this year earlier in the season. I was unimpressed with the coaching and the overall play but the bench players that played contributed nothing other than the bigger post player who could score but could not play defense. Your child must not be a starter. Be patient as a parent and if your child shines, the Coaches will notice. Getting on CoachT and expressing yourself anonymously only stirs the pot and causes dissension. Coaches do read CoachT although they would deny it. Oneida was a Class A basketball powerhouse with numerous state tourney appearances. I wish Oneida luck and hope to see them improve and progress in the tourneys.
  3. A smoke blower you are. Apparently you do not look at the entire picture of a basketball team. Five players are placed on the floor that can contribute to the team as a whole. A person does not have to name names if they are looking for a team. I believe you are greatly mistaken if you think that he plays "who is who." Apparently you haven't learned of the disciplining that Coach Yaden has brought forth to the team. Apparently you likewise have not learned that it does not matter who you are, friends family or foe, you are on the court if you have the capabilities and can produce teamwork. You need to attend more games and look at the team as a whole. He is not the previous coach. He is his own person and if you view the improvement in the team as a whole, you can see this. I would like to see the coach that everyone gives an A rating. I have yet to hear of one. You need to support the team and the coach. It is not your decision to make the calls on who should play. You are not the person trained to be in charge. I don't agree much with this statement. As a coach you want to put the best 5 on the court; however, Coach Yaden seems to not care about who the best are. Which in turn has cost the team greatly over the course of the past couple of games. I'm not saying that he doesn't know what he's doing, but it seems to me that he's more worried about who's who instead of who's good. Maybe it's just me, but when I see players such as: Torrey Slaven, Dylan West, Johnathan Lewallen, Braxton Hutson, Mark Miller, and others whom of which I know contributed a lot to last year's team sitting on the bench, it disheartens me. I don't see why a coach wouldn't want to do everything in his power to win. Yes, I'm aware that most of the boys have been caught up in football but honestly they had absolutely no power over the situation. The others may have had a month head-start on the football boys, but I honestly don't think it made a difference. No disrespect towards the Laxton and the Jeffers boy, they are outstanding players. I've been to every game for the past two years and I've seen what these boys can do. Coach Yaden just doesn't seem to want to face the facts and see how good they and has brought the team down tremendously. Everyone talks about how there's no discipline, but what do you expect from a coach who has had very little if any coaching experience on this level. Why would you throw someone into a situation where they have little experience and give them assistants that are barely able to be called assistants. Oneida is capable of a lot more than what has been shown. Coach Yaden is a good coach, he's a great coach on middle school level, but I guess it'll just be stated that I'm blowing smoke cause I'm mad cause MY kid doesn't get to play. Well I don't have a kid or any relation within this mess. I'm just a basketball fan who calls it like they see it.
