  1. It is about time that someone stepped up and started backing their coaches. My hat is off to the people who have gotten on the rumor board and said positive things about a coach and even more congratulations to the administrators who had the guts to stand behind their coach. WOW
  2. I agree about not being negative but it is pretty hard to move from middle school to the high school head coach in that high of a division. What happened to working your way up the ladder? Good luck Portland. Good tradition and being left by a very good football coach. Good luck Coach Perry.
  3. There should be no concerns about hiring Coach Mac. He did a tremendous job while at Moore County and simply had a bad situation in Marshall County.
  4. No but have had lots of friends from the upper cumberland area and always interested in Tn high school football. The greatest game ever!
  5. observer, just a question for you When were you a Jet?we may have played against each other. SB girl I don't like to discuss coaching applicants but I am in agreement that lots of times a program that may be down needs enthusiasm and new blood but also taking over a 5A program in transition is not an easy task especially for a young inexperienced coach no matter how excited they are. It seem to me that you need someone with some experience who is ready and up to the task. From the outside looking in whoever gets this job is in for a rough time at least for a while. Keep us posted as the plot thickens and good luck to both Cumberland County and Stone Memorial.
  6. That is a very good post. Coaches who have a system and believe in it do much better than those who grab at straws and change to "fit their talent." Maryville is a perfect example of doing what you are good at.
  7. Seems that Crossville is going through some confusing times. You are right if the new coach is not one the principal really wanted he may be out before he is even in. Any news on the principal candidates. I had heard both local names earlier, any other names being thrown around or anybody else been in to visit or interview.
  8. observer you seem to have a handle on the situation. What is going on in Crossville, 2 schools and 1 name, could be a tough coaching assignment.
  9. Thanks for the latest. Things must be quiet on the mountain.
  10. This is an interesting twist. It seems that there were several people who must have really wanted Coach Mac. Good for them! Hire someone who despite what people like to say on here has done a good job as a coach in more than one place. Congratulations to Franklin County for hiring the right person for the job. (if this comes true)
  11. This post should be closed before someone really gets hurt. What was the accusation about coach hitting player? That is the sort of thing that causes some real problems and this post should be stopped. Someone step up and close it or close coach t enough good coaches and even better people have been hurt by the stuff on these boards. Also, we should not name the kids and start calling them out, let the people in the schools make the decisions.
  12. Ok who is going to get this job! Things in Cumberland County should really get interesting with the hiring of 2 head coaches and the separation of assistants. My understanding is that there weren't very many to begin with and now that number will be cut in half? Are there going to be twice as many teaching openings due to the opening of another school or will the faculty basically be cut in half?
  13. This is a serious matter that can only make things worse in high school sports for the coaches who do their best. I do not know the coach or the situation but will make this observation; it has not been long ago when several coaches poor mouthed each other and it goes on on this board daily. Maybe you guys will wake up and realize that discussing coaches on this board is simply throwing gas on the fire. Let this board be for who it should be for, players and parents not coaches who are always trying to move themselves up at the expense of others.
  14. I have noticed several posts on this entire board that are becoming either self congratulatory or self promotion or promotion from friends. This is ok to a point but the validity of these type posts makes things extremely one sided. This is not a particular slam on any coach or poster just an observation that if you are a coach and have friends who write on this board you are making things very biased.
  15. observer good post! the talent pool in Crossville is shallow and Coach Wattenbarger did an admirable job and had some very competitive teams. That should not be downplayed and he is definately in no way to blame for the lean years they have experienced.
  16. don't be so defensive i was referring to the gov post thank you
  17. This is not the place for these kinds of accusations! Also, lets not put any specific coaches on that type of pedestal or for that matter talk poorly of any of them either. Coach Brewer is a good coach but with the exception of the state championship year has been mediocre at best.
  18. They definately should try to find someone who can get the kids out....but that is not as easily done as said. Many students do not have the desire and discipline to play sports. I also agree that the head coach doesn't necessarily need head coaching experience but for a 5A program it is not an easy transition from assistant to head coach and many times especially with a program is down it becomes too much for a new coach. "Coaching is the easy part" is the quote that many big school coaches give me.
  19. Another topic that went from good discussing the Antioch position to negative concerning Coach Johnson. Please don't discuss things that are not measureable such as his lack of discipline or running a "classless" program. These are things that should be decided by the administration of the school not people who are on the outside judging what coaches do.
  20. That last post is a good one. I don't know Coach Bush and he may be the right man for the job but I also know many times when the players get together and push for a coach it ends up not being a good relationship. Good luck to all parties involved including the coaches and players.
  21. any names on that list? It seems that there has been some good interest though, any head coaches hoping to make a move?
  22. sweep left you seem to have the lowdown or show an interest in a lot of jobs in the middle tennessee area. What else is going to open up?
  23. It takes a good coach to turn a program around or to continue to build one like the job in Franklin Co appears. My statement was backed up by someone else on this board. I have never been for the "good old boys" and think that many times that really hurts the program. Good coaches are good coaches no matter what their record or firing record dictates.
  24. Here's an interesting question. How many of the coaches that have applied have been FIRED from somewhere else? I know at least two names I've read on this thread have, maybe three. That is a pretty intersting post, I guess now that any coach who has resigned a position or been fired does not deserve the chance to coach again. That is great tell the New England Patriots that.
  25. First of all the comment about spring hill and cookeville should stay out of this if you want to bring those memories up remember Marion County coming there and destroying you guys so don't get to high. As far as the blowout I for one do not like to see coaches run the score up but, you are in the state championship and many of your seniors will never play another football game, why not let them enjoy it til the end not pull them out. Also lets don't get on Coach Satterfield for what he does. He is a proven winner and if you know him you also know him as a class guy
