Another big school looking for a coach. These jobs are gonna be filled and hopefully by the right person. Good potential at that school to really make some noise. In Nashville though it seems that talent revolves from school to school.

Last post made some sense but I remember the days of "bowl games" and everbody cried for a play-off where more teams were allowed to go. Now we have 5 classes two divisions and 4 teams from each going to the play-offs. I think one of two things should happen. 6 classes and bring private schools back with a multiplier of at least 2 or eliminate all private schools and drop back to 3 classes.

That is interesting! Do you mean a total of 7-10 coaches or 7-10 for each job. It sounds like local area people must realize that the job is not a great one to have despite some of the nice facilities.

my answer to the last comment is i don't know. I don't know much about the cumberland situation other than what i have written. It seems that there have been some good coaches who went there and then for one reason or another are no longer coaching. One who did coach there and then left and has been successful is Knox Catholic Coach Pemberton

I think Coach Wattenbarger is going to stay around and teach. He is from there. You are exactly right about not knowing what you have til its gone. Many times programs hire administrators who want to "change" things and they do but they find out that change is not always good. Also, many let a select group of parents or politicians push them to hire or fire someone and they get exactly what they deserve.

DB is one of the classiest and most impressive programs in this state and the southeast for that matter. Each year their coaches have them prepared to be the best team around. I have the greatest respect for all they do and for the great traditions that they have. They may not have won a state championship but if you haven't experienced a game there then you need to see what high school football in Tn is all about. My hat is off to Coach Clark and all the coaches and administrators at DB

Yeah I agree about the money but I think that you should have to produce to get the type money that some coaches are making. I am not necessarily talking about wins and losses but you have to show improvement in your program. BC has been down and it is not going to be easy to get them back up but the right person getting this job may be able to work some magic even next season.

Bad blood you guys may be right. I only said what I had heard. Also I don't know the people who you are talking about but did hear that they have a good administration and could have lots of support. However, Coach Wattenbarger was a good coach and did good things for that program. He took them to the play-offs 3 times and worked very hard to get there. Still think with the division of schools that both jobs will be tough ones that to use the term that i have heard be a coaches graveyard

Good information. I in no way meant to slight your program. I hope that you took no offense. I remember his junior year because they started the year really hot and then missed the play-offs.

Good post! I however, don't like to blame anyone. I do think that the administration should look heavily at the next coach. If he is asking for that kind of deal then they should really decide if he is in it for the long haul or just looking for a "sugar daddy". My thinking is and always has been if you produce then you can ask. Reward people for doing a good job don't just give them everything they want up front. Same as raising children. If there is no more reward then you are gonna get no more production.

I'm sorry that he hurt your feelings. As for my connection with Coach Allen have never met him or would not know him if I saw him. It is just that I hate to see coaches "raked over the coals". As I have said openly if you went out and raised the pay then maybe you picked the wrong guy. Good coaches who do it for the right reason don't expect anything above what is already there. Pay does not make someone take a job or leave a job. It is the job and the people who you work with and for. I'm sorry that you feel that he quit on you, maybe and hopefully you will give the new coach the respect and support and you may find a diamond in the rough.

No harm no foul Fan. Just trying to say that it is not profitable to "beat a dead horse". Maybe the administration was snowed but they thought that they were getting the right man for the job. Now I hardly ever talk negative about coaches but here goes: if a coach demands more money or things before they take a job then maybe the administration should look into the reason they want the job. Yes coaches have a right to make living and in this time where many coaches lose their jobs they have to look out but take the job for what is don't negotiate to try and make it better. In the end its not the money but the job that makes someone stay or leave.

Last post was very educated. There is a provision if you drop more than 20% in a year where contracts are renewed. That would be next year. Sorry about my last post on this topic. I was just saying that I do not think using this board to promote yourself or one of your "buddies" for a job is ethical. The people who are going to make the call on this job are the right ones. It will be made by the administration not some "hokey" group of parents who want to get the person that they can manipulate into the position. My word is that there are not many people who have shown an interest and that many are dropping out of contention after hearing some of the things that have been said.

If anybody should no about Powell it would be you. So what is going on around there lately. Big disappointment after Larry resigned and went back. I hear through my Knox connection that big name is wanting to come back to stomping grounds but many don't even want to think about it.

This is one of the tougher jobs probably in the state. I remember years ago when they had a player named Harms and had a pretty good team but still could not make the play-offs. This is a job for someone with patience and who has been through the tough times. Not to discourage but this job can ruin a young coaches career before they get started. Case in point the former head coach. Had been around really good programs but couldn't get it turned and now has to start over. Good luck to Coach Puryear wherever he lands. Good guy

My question to all of you who are out there trying to hurt a coach is this; Did he hurt your feelings? He must have because all you can do is complain about him leaving. You must have wanted him to stay or be mad that he left. I am not truly concerned with Bradley County but I am concerned over the way that many coaches are treated on this board and have been since I joined. What do you do for a living? I bet you never did something for yourself. So I guess you are self centered as well.

No problem, Ga would pay more I suppose. Stone has/ will have great facilities from what I have heard.

I enjoy talking with and meeting many of the coaches in Tn whether it be east, middle or west. However, I don't have much respect for the coaches who use this board to hurt others. If you are not one of those then not for you. Also if you are a fan, parent or player please don't use this board to air your personal agenda. I don't know Coach Allen and therefore don't base my thoughts on him, simply on the fact that let BC move ahead and find the right coach for the job and support the administration and the new coach and see if that doesn't work better than blaming everyone for the demise of a program.

Ah! Lets see if we can politic on the coacht board to see if we can get someone the job. I don't know Coach Bennett but it seems like somebody on here is working pretty hard for him. You also don't have any idea of what coaches might apply for this job so please don't make a statement like the one you made that he will be better than anyone else that they may get. I will say it again and continue to say it as long as I am on this board. Let the principals and athletic directors at the schools make the decisions on who they hire and let the coaches do the jobs they are hired to do. Just be fans and complain about playcalling and who is playing quarterback.

Did some researching today on this job and it is amazing how some people simply throw out names to try and get their "buddies"or themselves jobs. Trust me the way to move up in coaching is not to promote yourself or degrade others on this board. The hires that will be made here and at Stone will be made by the right.

Don't blame the "politics" of BC for the problems. Truth is that they have too many people second guessing everything they do. It is a shame that the next football coach there will never have a chance because the coacht coaches will already have them questioned by everyone around. This sort of thing destroys coaches before they get started. It's funny how I know so many coaches who base their chance to get a job solely on how hard they can work to ruin someone else's credibility.

I am sick of the hypocrites on this board. He has resigned and I am sure that if a new prospective coach reads this gossip mill that they will be smart enough to stay away. The sad thing is that many good coaches are ruined before they get a chance because certain people have their own agenda.

Please just let this coach ride off into the sunset. This is not the place to place blame or make accusations. These things along with rumor (false or partially true) ruin people's lives. This should not be done to anyone. Please coacht lets remove any damaging things from the board where coaches are concerned. IF it has to do with play calling or job performance but that is it lets leave coaches alone.
