Just a buying tip for parents: Second/third generation bats are all very, very close regardless of brand. The difference you will find in the BBCOR will be mostly limited to sound and feel. Any perceived difference in performance will be attributed to those two factors. Additionally, we have found a negligible difference in the major brand's top shelf bat and their $199.99 model.
  2. After a year that saw six Columbia State baseball players commit to Division 1 schools, the program has already had three of the 2012 student-athletes commit. OF Derrick Armstrong - Mississippi State LHP Austin Huibers - Treveccca University INF Jake Little - University of Memphis
  3. Have any idea why my last post was moved?

  5. Matt is a great hitter...no question about it!
  6. (RHP) Logan Gray Mt. Juliet, TN Went 11-1 for Mt. Juliet this year and considered by many as good as the Vandy commitments in his district. Has the versatility to start or relieve. (OF) Derrick Armstrong Columbia, TN Derrick is another solid athlete that possesses great baseball tools. I look for him to push for playing time right away. Was one the first kids that I liked when I came to Columbia last fall. (RHP/INF) Chris Armstrong Knoxville, TN Chris is a transfer from Walters State. He is a solid upper 80's guy that has a swing and miss slider. I look for him to get into the rotation and possibly pushing for some time at 3B. (OF) Cody Armstrong Knoxville, TN Cody is the younger brother of Chris. Cody started in CF for his State Champion Eagles of Gibbs High School. Has a great baseball frame and raw tools. Will make our OF better. (C) Justin Lopez Mt. Juliet, TN A hardworking backstop that comes from one of the best programs in the state. Justin will solidify our solid core of catchers. © Brandon Mutter Lavergne, TN Brandon is a blue collar receiver that shows some on the field leadership ability. If he and Justin plays well it will give us more versatility around the diamond with some of our other players. (RHP/3B/1B) Koda Watkins Lewisburg, TN Koda has a chance to help us offensively and on the mound. He has some pop which projects to be a run producer in our line-up. His hard breaking ball is something that can't teach. It is a swing and miss pitch.[
  7. Yes ma'am we are! Send me an email for information mcorn@columbiastate.edu
  8. (RHP) DW Whitson Unicoi, TN DW is a very projectable RHP who has a ton of upside. We had him at 84-89 this spring topping out at 91-92 in the district tournament. At 6'5 he should develop into a workhorse type arm. (INF) Holden Tolley Unicoi, TN Holden is a tremendous athlete who can play a number of positions. His has the athleticism and arm strength to battle for playing time. He was a lead-off guy for his state championship participating Blue Devils.
  9. Nick is an exciting player. I really look forward to seeing his game elevate over the next two years.
  10. I big addition to our program....no pun intended. 6'7" right-hander from Loretto High School by way of Lambuth University. (RHP) Clint Wright - Lawrenceburg, TN (Lambuth University) Clint is a big, power right-hander that has a tremendous upside. He will pitch 86-89 and flash low 90's. I look for him to be a weekend starter for us in the spring.
  11. I have heard that there are some Jeff County Alumni interested in the position.
  12. I am not aware that Austin has committed to our program.
  13. Yes I heard. That's awesome for them! They are both great players. I look forward to seeing them succeed at the next level.
  14. Another outstanding young man decides to continue his education at Columbia State! (RHP) Drew Padgett - Clarksville, TN Drew is a two sport standout at Rossview HS and built like a tailback. He is another mid to upper 80's right-hander with a power slider.
  15. I always like to make this point when fans comment about playing time. I guarantee that the coach is not trying to lose. He is putting the players out there that he feels will give him the best chance to win. There's not one person that wants to win anymore than the coach. Until I sit and watch every practice, chart bullpens, be in the weight room during workouts, observe conditioning I will never pass judgment on another coach's decision on who to play.
