I don't see Mckenzie being able to hang with the Tornadoes this year. UC should win this one handily. Too much depth and speed. And you have a "last year" factor---the only loss. That'll be talked about a lot this week at UC's practice.

And....not a whole lot of talkers over here. I only know of "6" people that post on here from Martin. They'll be on later....when the season gets real.

It's pretty easy to call out players by name when they play a "badboy" style of play. No need for all that now, I'm just really thankful that Dresden didn't take us off the schedule. I'm going to be nice from now on out. I like the atmosphere you guys induce over there, it's fun to watch and be a part of. After this week, I hope you guys have a good season. If they move this game back to Fridays in the future, I'd like to play it on your home field every other year.

Should be a good close game. I expect 4 quarters of hard hitting and pressure defense from both teams. 2 young lines going at it. I didn't get to see Dresden the other night, but I heard they played pretty well and their line is more solid than ours on both sides of the ball. Our young guys are going to have to grow up fast. Expecting a huge crowd, hoping for good weather, and predict a Westview win. I don't know if it'll change, but we threw more times in the jamboree than we have in the prior 3 jamborees. Hopefully, we will be more balanced than we have in the past. Either way, it's a good warm up game for both teams.

It'll probably be a little noisy, but not quite a playoff atmosphere just yet. We have a lot of unanswered questions at various positions and I haven't seen the arrival yet of certain position players...who were expected to be further along than they are. I see this being a very close game, which could go either way. We'll be a lot better the 2nd half of the season, but the first 4 or 5 games will be pretty tough. Too many fumbles, no break away speed, lack of line depth, soft tackling......we need some players to grow up fast.

Didn't look too good. Scrimmages and Jamborees don't give any indication on how a team will be. We need to shore up the line and the playmakers will do their thing. CC has a good group of young ones and will do some damage down the road. We have lost a lot of lineman for injuries, quitting, or laziness. We are overrated to be ranked that high in preseason, but we always finish stronger.

Good Post Rev. I don't know all the facts, just what others say. I've never met him and I'm sure he has a heart of gold. I'm sure "hog" is a good coach and is just "passionate" about the game. I'm teachable. Thanks for helping me see the light.

Dirty being the "word" in this diatribe. Hogheaven must be trying to sign on as an assistant, since he couldn't keep his job in Dresden. Good luck MC and hopefully the program gets turned around for you. I've watched programs have decades of terrible play in our county and the right coach with the right attitude can turn it around. Hopefully, he has learned from his run-ins with the TSSAA. Give him a chance for redemption.

lol---that's the kind of fan I'm used too. Actually, he benches just over 300 and he doesn't need any help. We've lost 4 linemen who either quit, were injured, or were surpassed. I just hope y'all don't put up 40 on us. Probably a rebuilding year for us, but we like to play hard schedules and I'm glad we open up with one of the best programs in the state...the Mighty Lions!! Our line will be ready by the end of the season, but your line should do pretty well against us.

Should be a close one. I see that Dresden is ranked #5 in the first pole out this season. UC/South Pittsburgh are tied at #1. 1 month and counting down.......

Single A---I say GC and Greenfield will win on their side and I think Dresden, West Carroll or Huntingdon will take the other side of that bracket. We are very young, but we have some good players. Our PG can handle the ball---we have a great post player and a couple of wings/guards that can flat out shoot it. Our biggest Achilles is that we are young...if the underclassmen can grow up pretty fast, we'll be solid before tourney. Never can tell with the young girls, but we aren't depleted. We'll talk more after football season...lol Good luck to all this year!

The best part of your post is "Westview forever for 1st game of season".....I hope this game keeps on going and it's consider "automatic" on the schedule. It's a good time for good friends/neighbors to get together and enjoy watching the young men play. I hope you guys get behind your new coach and encourage him to always keep us on the schedule. I just wished they would put this game on Thursday night every season....it brings a crowd. Bring those horns too....we really like the noise.

Wishful thinking...we got farther last year than we expected, but were happy about it. We will be competitive, but I believe we are still probably a year away from being the most complete team we've had in a while. Our line is going to be small and young, but our skill position players should be pretty explosive. We'll go as our defense goes...I predict we'll be better on that side of the ball this year for the entire year. Ready for fall...

We are looking very inconsistent so far this spring. Got a couple of players hurt, a couple of players out of position, but we have a good core coming back. I don't see the #5 ranking from the one Sports beat, but I'd say we should compete. Looking forward to the summer scrimmage before the jamboree. We always seem to start slow and gel as we go along. Waiting to see who are going to be the playmakers come fall.....still to be seen.

Schedule has been made for a while. The game will be on our schedule until the Lion administration decides it time "again" to take a break. We have to play our part of the District schedule..then it's fill in the blank.......for the other ones. Hopefully, year in and year out---Huntingdon, McKenzie, Dresden, and >>>>>>>

Totally agree. Coady has been a friend of mine for many years. We will keep Dresden on the schedule as long as they are willing to stay on it. Whether we win or lose. It's just another game, but brings a great gate. We can't pick up teams around here to play and when we do have an opening, we have to go along way to find a replacement. That's why we used to have to pay teams from Memphis to come in and play. Never know what you are going to get, but you know you will be seeing some athletes for sure. The in-county matchup is always good and usually competitive due to the fact of everyone knowing everyone. The last 3 years has even made Martin folk wanting to play this game, after the two losses. It used to be a nice practice, but now it's a game. Hope they ink the deal again and even start traveling to Dresden to play over there. And by what I hear, it's consider a rivalry game by Dresden...which makes it even more entertaining.

Delusional...lol Westview wants that game scheduled every year and would put it on there twice if they could. Keep drinking your cool-aid, because you guys have about 4 years of "style of play" that will be catching up to you. You guys have a good coach and he should want to keep that game. It was supposed to be locked in for another 2 years....we really hope this is just a rumor as well. Great game and people pack these games. You guys bring a lot of emotion and horns, we bring a program. And to correct an earlier account, we've actually lost "I believe" 7 times in the history of our matchups, not 4. I vote as well.....Keep that game on the schedule year in and year out.
