  1. After watching todays a games I will have to say there are two teams at this tournament that are better than Humboldt this year. One is Westwood and the other is Clarksville......this was not gonna be a championship year for Humboldt anyway. They were fortunate to get here....too young making young team mistakes. Note..........you gotta know when to quit launching shots and give the ball up or try to go inside....like I said young team mistakes.
  2. I think this is the potential championship game. I believe most Humboldt fans thought they would get this draw. As for the game I think WW actually has one guy listed at 6 5", a tall skinny kid who plays the post so The size advantage for Humboldt might not be as relevant, but, Humboldt will be the deepest most athletic team on the floor. For the umpteenth time in the last 6 years...... GO VIKINGS. BRING IT HOME!!!!!!!!!
  3. Don't count out Liberty. That would be a big mistake!
  4. Saturday morning @ 10 you can go to the tssaa website and watch it live.
  5. Oh yea....forgot to mention CC Moody and Xavier Jackson....both very capable at the point. The list goes on etc................
  6. Hey red, thing is that we were'nt even supposed to be having this conversation. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Vikings after losing 7 talented seniors from last years squad. This team has come a long way since the first game of the season and are playing their best ball right now. I think some credit has to be given to coach Boykin and coach Dotson on an outstanding job bringing a very young team to this point. When you talk about the bench you have to include the fabulous freshman JK Kimble! He has given some solid minutes in the tournaments and continues to impress with his athleticism (don't forget he's Quans little bro....runs in the family I guess). Devonte Pirtle is an excellent outside shooter that can smoke'em from 3 land (just a sophomore too). This is a dangerous team right now.....and for several years to come. Funny thing is (for me at least) after all the promise coach Boykins teams have shown in the last 6 years...this will be the one to get him a gold ball!
  7. I'm surprised to see your pick on this one.... Usually, the Middle Tennessee teams aren't that strong...There will be a team or two with a gaudy record but they end up getting beat by either a West Tenn team or a Chattanooga team... If Arts and Sciences make it, it wouldn't surprise me to see them get to the finals...They are one of the few Chattanooga teams that plays like we do in West Tn.....If Westwood wins tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see them either(Or if UC wins)....The champion, in my opinion, will come from the 7A/8A sectional or from Chattanooga...Humboldt would be my favorite... I looked at CA's schedule...The schedule ranking has them 82nd (I know...but that's in 1A ) but the out of state teams don't help their cause...They won a tournament in Cadiz, Ky that has all similar size teams play in it....They played and beat Butler County, Ky (3-25), Caldwell County, Ky (6-20), Dawson Springs, Ky (1-24) and Trigg County, Ky (12-14)...Of course they gotta win tonight, like you said.... I don't see anything even close to what UC and Manassas had the last 2 seasons (I would throw Humboldt in there to from last season) single A is wide open and the 2 big men they have are both 6'5 and 1 is a straight up legit D1 talent and they have a couple of good guards that can shoot the ball. That's enough to win it this year. Plus I think if thy get there they would get more calls against any team from our area...I know some think that's BS but I really believe that. CA might loose tonight...I could be entirely wrong. I haven't seen them in person just making an educated guess from what I've been reading in the Clarksville paper on and off all season. I've been checking it out and following Austin Peay all season...with Blake and Reaves playing there and Greer will be there next season. Coach Loos has been recruiting Memphis and this area hard. We may not see another single A team like UC and Manassas for a long time. I just don't see a dominate team in single A and have a feeling this is the year the gold ball goes to a different area of the state. Personally I'm pulling for Humboldt...I would like to see them finally win one. You will see another 1a team like that in a couple of years at Humboldt. And probably the year after that too!
  8. Hey P & G heard you guys lost a heartbreaker at WW.........what happened? Last score I saw was 61 all. OK....never mind I just read your post on the UC/WW topic.....hate it for u guys I was really pulling hard for UC!
  9. Listen to all of tonights action on TJ105.3!!!!!!!!!Airtime 6:45. WTJW 105.3 Home of HHS Basketball
  10. City is very similar to Humboldt but their guards are a bit taller, they go about 6 0" cross the board. I've only seen City once this year and although they won I was'nt overly impressed. They were about 7 deep and had a couple of 6 4"s down low....like I said very similar to the boldt! I would say it's going to be a tough game for Humboldt but I'll give them the edge if only because of the home floor. Humboldt is playing very well at the right time of the season!
  11. Hey best of luck to UC. I would love to see both 14a team at the boro'. Hey P&G I seen Westwood the other night and they have a 6 4" and 6 5" on the post. Of course they've never played you guys so I hope Sisco can come up with a good gameplan to beat those guys! WW is rather similar to Humboldt , not as much depth though they only go bout' 7 deep. GOOD LUCK TO 14A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Have Sisco and his team come out from behind the woodshed yet????? Seriously, all I can say is...WOW. Didnt see that comin'. Did WW and City play tonight?
  13. OK The game is tonight but I know there are people that will want to discuss this game in detail later....so I created this topic. Humboldt has been winning with tenacious defense as of late. Only one opponent over 50 on them in the last 6 games (including holding UC to 49 in the last match-up). Can UC find anything on the post? If UC cannot shoot at least 50% from 3 land their doomed. My prediction: Humboldt 60 UC 52 Listen to tonights region 7a championship game on TJ105.3! Airtime 6:45.
