He was not suspended from Boone when he transferred.

Maybe the Valentine kid. He was at Boone / Crockett game last night. Dad was shopping him around again. He said he would like to be back at Boone.

Fulton will win as usual. Carter's new style of play will only beat lesser teams. It might be fun to watch but you don't win championships with it.

Your right I do know him but not that well. I have seen on another post where he made the same type comment that is all. I am a fan of high school sports but my kids did go to Boone a few years ago. I totally agree the chant is childish ... Not trying to start an argueement.

Tommyman I'm not trying to start insults here. Your post usually seems like you know what's going on in our area with basketball. I just see more then one post where you throw that right jab at the Boone coach. Looks like you go out of your way sometimes to throw it also... But hey that's your right If that is what you think.

Tommyman only question I have for you is why are you so against the Boone coach. You have an obvious dislike of him because your always taking a jab at him. Just curious because you seem to have knowledge about what you say. I think he does a good job.

Who is there coach now?

I have heard he is a likable young man also. It's not because of him. It is what the coaching staff has done to bring him and others there. I'm not here to argue I was just giving the facts that I have heard.

He went to Boone as a freshman then transferred to Hampton after playing with Boone during the summer between his 9th and 10th grade year. He was recruited by McClain and the Hampton assistant at the sports complex. Valentine and his dad was not happy because Boone coach would not allow him to play where they wanted him to play and that was the guard position. So they transferred to Hampton. That's the truth behind the situation. They moved to Hampton and are completely legal as far as TSSAA goes. But it is a move that has cost a loss of respect for Smith and Hampton Basketball in our area from most of the coaches, fans, and even a few of the Hampton folks.

Who did they hire?

What is the talent level returning next year? Can they compete in their league?

Who all has put in for it? I hear Coach Broyles from North Greene has applied.

Any word on who will be hired for these jobs?

Why did Pigeon Forge coach step down? What conference do they play in?

I know that Beau Hauldren first year assistant at Daniel Boone is very interested in job. Very good coach but may lack in experience for a head coach job at this time.

Haywood? Where is Coach Dancy going? Didn't they just win district tournament?

Yes he will help just as long as Coach Smith keeps all his promises to him and his dad. Looks like with a team that good it will be hard. Best of luck to Hampton. Thay should go a long ways with all the recruits.

I hear Brandon Broyles as Crockett's new head girls coach. He has been on Coach Arnold's staff at Boone for a few years now.

If I was on the search committee I would be going after Coach Penley and/or Coach Arnold if there was any chance they would come. Coach Penley teaches outstanding fundamentals. His teams will often win on this alone. He plays a slower game and feeds the ball inside. Coach Arnold is a players coach. His players play hard and in return gets to play on the offensive end. His offense would be perfect for the talent level at Betsy. Both would take Betsy to the level of play wanted.

Big 8 is down. But there is still good players on each team. I believe league games will be good. On a side note I notice that your always on Boones coach and Boone anytime you can get a chance. I guess you have a personal issue with him and Boone. Maybe its because your son couldn't play at the hill and you took him to Boone. Guess what he didn't make it there either. So do us all a favor and stop making up lies about kids and coaches when you have no idea what your talking about. Good luck to all the teams in The Big 8 this year!

Science Hill is the king of the conference for now. If anyone is going to take it away from them it will be DB. I believe it is a toss up after those two teams. So my predictions are: 1. Science Hill 2. Dobyns - Bennett 3. Tennessee High - zone D is tough 4. Crockett - good players back 5. Daniel Boone - young but will play hard 6. South - well coached 7. Volunteer - best inside game 8. Central - if they shoot it well could move higher. Much like football the league is down. But games should be fun to watch.

Don Helman talked on the sport monster one morning about Boone playing Knox Carter twice this year. I think he also said the played Bearden in HOF game. Sounds like that is pretty good competition for them.

I hope the rumors are that only rumors. It would be a shame for this team to break up. you can't blame TSSAA for your schedule. Yes they limit games but don't say who you have to play outside of your league. The Hill should be more aggressive in scheduling. Who did they play for their HOF games? Who was in their Thanksgiving tournament? They only played one great team in the Arbys. The Hill needs to go out and play people who will challenge them. It may result in a loss but the experience may over weigh it in the long run. I have noticed other teams in the area playing tougher non league games and it has paid off for them. Just my thoughts.
