  1. Hopefully Kountz can get into the weight room soon. He is going to be one of the big keys to the team this year, even if he has had a rough past.
  2. Euverard was not the problem. Euverard had a fine system that had won him a state championship before arriving at Jefferson county. Granted he had a lot of talent on that team, but he still knew what to do with it. By your post you make it sound like he drove this program into the ground. In all honesty, I believe that he had the right intentions coming to Jefferson County, but some of the players didn't buy into what he had for them. I have heard from some of his former players that he communicated with them before each season started and asked each player "What their goals for themselves were, and for the team." That to me shows dedication to your players and football team. Does this mean i agree with everything Euverard did? No. Seemed to me his players were not used to his tough style of coaching. We need more of that get in your face attitude with our coaches these days.
  3. So by saying your close to the team, i am assuming you are a parent to a player.
  4. Wow! This is a great post. There is noway I can take what you just said seriously. Are you just joking around here or what? I don't agree with the comparisons that was made, but I do believe it is time to upgrade the offense as we have the players to run a spread offense. I think this has been attempted by the coaches but no offensive coach on the staff has the wits to come up with a whole new scheme to run the spread. It boils down to that we must have the coaches to take this program to another level before we can use the players. It almost seems we have missed out on what could have been such a dominate class due to lack of knowledge at the top.
  5. This is a message board and a place where people express their opinions. Its obvious some people will like the things being done and some will not. If you don't like or cant handle the things being said GTFO! As far as work ethic goes i really would like to see what these kids go through in their workout class Coach Anderson teaches. I mean seriously how hard do you think Coach Anderson works them out? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these kids know what it means to work hard and get better. I have to agree with this statement. Coach Anderson might put on a show that he is pushing these kids during the "workout class" but all who know "gut" personally, know that he can be a joke and is hard to be taken seriously. From what i hear from former players, the class wasn't much, but full of time consuming activities. Question though: Do the players that play basketball, baseball,wrestling..etc workout during their seasons? Do they even take the class? Just Curious.
  6. Just to clear things up, Goins shared the first team quarterback position with the sophomore quarterback from east, Cody Rickard. But personally i am with JCSP20 on the all conference situation, especially after Kountz made the team by missing the majority of the season (Anderson should have never nominated him for the team). In the veer offense the quarterback can look successful at the first glance, but for the people that know what to look for, goins missed a lot of so called reads this season. Goins didn't seem to read the defense ,he was going against, at some points during the season. Zach Long only played his senior year, but seemed to be miles and miles ahead of Goins in reading defenses. The cause for this might be the absence of "Buster" but this must be the primary goal this off season for goins. That and holding on to the ball...
  7. Well if i remember correctly, anytime the team needed a boost in a tight game it came from the Defense! Offensive production wasn't present in any tight situations last year. In the West game Goins attacked the line of scrimmage the first drive to lead the team to a field goal, but after the west defense started breaking through for more pressure, i sometimes saw goins losing ground in a veer offense!? Just saying in tough games last season the defense prevailed (seymour game) as the offense failed. Granted to goins line wasn't very productive either, but he is the leader out there when the offense is on the field. To me the leadership wasn't there, but i might have been missing something. (Kudos to Wayne Chism but as for Kiffin he was a good QB coach we must give him that)
  8. and what makes you thing Goins doesnt want to lead this team? What makes you think hes not a leader in the huddle? The coaches are doing whats best for the team. I would stick to your day job if i were you and leave the coaching to the coaches, buddy. I'm not on here to pick a fight with anybody on here Headbusta, but obviously anybody knows there is a big difference than wanting to lead the team and having the ability to do so. Not putting Goins down, just from what i witnessed last year the team didn't seem to respond to his actions. Some kids have the leadership quality and some people don't, it is nothing that is able to be taught to players. To be honest the last true leader than seemed to step out is Mcfall. He not only used his abilities to send sparks throughout the team, but his words were valued upon his fellow teammates. Again, not putting the kid down because he seems like a great kid.
  9. The best is the best in my opinion counteroption But for this to hold true i do believe the coaches should look deeper into their personnel and make sure goins is the right guy for the job. Bible and others that have the desire to lead the team should be evaluated equal to Goins. Good luck to the patriots in spring practice.
  10. They usually grow because of the good coaches that surround them, Lane Kiffin with Jonathon Crompton and Bruce Pearl with Wayne Chism, but i don't know who would lead Goins in the right direction to change that drastically. But for the sake of the team, lets hope he encounters the maturity.
  11. Even though Goins appearances in the state track championships are impressive, however, they do not prove that he has the specific qualities (Leadership, Level Headed, and the ability of staying calm under pressure) of a QB. No doubt Goins has the athletic ability, but some could question his knowledge of the quarterback position. Is there anybody on the team with the football intelligence to run the veer/spread more sufficiently?
