What's up with "cheating magnet school" comment? Good game with MHMS and Signal tonight. Hard fought, score doesn't tell the whole story. I'd say the young keeper for MHMS as a freshman who hasn't played since he was 3 played a fine game. Good test for him and he will only grow stronger and with this type of experience, he'll go far. Signal has some good players though dramatics should be removed from the contest. MHM Boys played with a lot of heart and came back to make a game of it. The coaches get great play from those fellows. Graduating 6 seniors, I believe, and 2 signed to play in college. Fun team to watch. Contest Thursday will be a good test for Central magnet and Signal. They play a similar game. I think Signal may have some bigger,stronger guys but Central's midfield play is very strong. They both like to take a flop (what is going on this year) and slide tackle. On a different note, the MHM coach has started a special needs soccer team for youth in middle Tennessee. Over for the spring, but other teams/schools should pitch in and spread the word- Soccer Stars in Hendersonville. Great guy, Coach Carr.

Merrol Hyde Magnet 2 Portland 1

I will second that. This was the same team/players MHMS played Tuesday night. Pretty good game except for the early mistakes by Greenbrier. Ended up kind of like I thought as I expected Greenbrier to win just based on the games we had played against the 2 teams. White House vs White House Heritage wasn't very close at all. Left with about 10 minutes to go and WH was up 4 - 0 over Heritage. I expect a good game tonight between WH and Greenbrier. I have to go with White House. A primarily young team but loaded with talent, especially the freshmen.

I had no idea anyone on your team was injured last night. One of our players went out in the first few minutes with a pulled hip from our defense but I did not recall seeing anyone on CA injured. Sorry to hear that. Missing the last games of the season are tough for a kid who loves the game. We have a very young team ourselves. I feel your pain starting so many freshmen. We do lose 5 seniors this year but only 3 are starters. Our nucleus has been sophomores and freshmen. We're growing and learning. Great game last night. Our guys played hard but came up short. Congrats on the win and sorry to hear your central mid has a broken leg. Good luck in the rest of the tournament. Hope to see some more games myself.

I have different information concerning Merrol Hyde's last game from their coach. I have them playing there last regular game of the season, a make up game, vs Creekwood next Wednesday, May 12. Would there be an update to the district tournament schedule somewhere? *update* I have discovered that Merrol Hyde does indeed play on Wednesday night next week, May 12 but it is their first tournament game, not a make up game, and the opponent is still to be determined by the outcome of the first round of play between Creekwood and Macon County. It looks like Merrol Hyde will play Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights next week.

I was told long ago that I "didn't understand the game" when I witnessed a coach run up the score on a young travel team. The score was something like 13 to 0 and he brought his keeper up to score, too! Didn't replace him, just let him leave the goal wide open and take a shot. I do have a strong love for the game but I am bothered when a young man is allowed by his coach to take a bow to the opposing crowd after he scores immediately following a hotly contested call. The lack of civility based on a coach's actions and encouraging and rewarding players to participate in poor sportsmanship is allowing the "beautiful" game to become very ugly.
